West Herr Lincoln of Amherst

I bought a Hyundai Elantra from West Herr Lincoln of Amherst. I also paid for a Platinum Extended Warranty that cost over 3500 dollars. The car had some battery issues and the engine was making strange noises. I had scheduled an appointment for the battery, but when I got there, I asked them to check the engine noise too. They fixed the battery problem, but said the car sounded fine. However, the engine noise is still there and it's even worse now that it's cold. After doing some research, I found out that this is a known issue and there's a class action lawsuit against the Elantra Engine.

I decided to take the car to another Hyundai dealership to get the problem verified. The Service manager there was aware of the problems and the lawsuit. He said the next step would be a complete breakdown of the engine to find the point of failure, which would cost around 800 dollars. Then the warranty company would send an adjuster to make a decision. I'm wondering what's the point of having this warranty? I've already taken the car in twice and was charged over 70 dollars each time just for them to look at it. Now I have to pay 800 dollars out of pocket for them to find a problem they already know about. And then I have to hope that the warranty company will handle it. When I bought the car, they told me they got me a better interest rate because I bought the warranty. I'm starting to think that was a lie too. This warranty plan has been a complete waste of money.
