Villages Golf Cart Man product quality/customer service

Purchased a custom golf cart body kit that would fit a Club Car Precedent. The 34 Roadster Truck body kit was purchased on 6/27/2019 and paid in full on that date for $4, 691.25 which included shipping, handling and a crate fee.
When purchased, I was told it would take 4-6 weeks before I would receive the body kit which I had drop shipped to my body shop for painting (Tony claimed that they do not paint and ship bodies since they can become damaged in shipping).
The body ended up shipping and the body shop receiving it 9 weeks later after a lot of excuses from Tony Colangelo (including something about having problems getting his employees to show up for work).
The body kit was sold to me as primed and paint ready but came in with the edges missing around most of the kit. This required nearly $2, 400 worth of work to rebuild the edges of the kit so that it could be painted (along with other body work to clean up the work that should have been done by Villages Golf Cart Man).
In addition to the problems with the body kit, I also received a lot of problems getting support for the fabrication work to prepare the golf cart to receive the body kit. I was sent a one page instructions on what needed to be done but this was missing about 10 pages of necessary changes to make the body kit fit. The received instructions where mostly concerned about the extension of the frame. I found these instructions to be incomplete even for the frame extension. Buyers beware, do not follow the instructions as shown. Make sure you add additional support to the frame extension by adding a piece of flat aluminum on the outside of the frame to make it more rigid and less likely to crack or break as seen in more of the other complaints on this site. There was no mention about the necessary work to cut down the battery box by three inches or to create a new frame to support the seat. There is also no mention that you must cut some of the front suspension to allow the extended steering wheel column to fully turn. There is also some extensive work to cut down the old glove box bottom to allow the body kit to fit down on the frame. There are no instructions on how to do the seating or that you can't use the existing seats that came with the golf cart.. you must make them yourself. All of these issues cost a lot of extra money that is not noted on their website, in their instructions or in conversations with them.
They claim a customer support number and email for the fabrication support. This turned out to be a real gem of a person who only claimed that you need to be a fabricator to complete this work and provided no support whatsoever. Being an engineer, this wasn't a problem for me but it would have been helpful to have a much broader set of instructions and warning on the additional costs that you must do to support this project.
When approaching Tony Colangelo about the additional costs and asking for a refund on the $2, 400 worth of additional body work to get the body ready for painting, all I got was a lot of complaining about my body shop and that I was being taken for a ride. He then proceeded to belittle me and spent as much time dodging the real issue with the customer satisfaction about the product quality.
I would highly recommend that you take your business elsewhere as this company will not provide what is advertised on their website. Buyer beware.

I'm providing a picture of the body damage as it was cut out of the mold too short and was very thin and brittle (obviously, they were in a hurry and did not care about quality).

I'm also providing a finished product picture to show that, yes, I am an engineer and can do the work without the support of their "customer service".

Villages Golf Cart Man golf cart customization

If I could give it zero stars, I would. Beware when doing business with these people. I was told on 21 August 2019, they do not have the resources or funds to do work. They do not deliver as promised or according to contract. They will tell you they are working on it over and over again.
Gave them a Mr. Toad's Wild Ride car for conversion to a golf cart in January 2016. $30k+ and still have not seen my car/golf cart. I have filed a law suit, gone through mediation and still no car to this day. I want my car back!

Be careful before doing business with these people!

"My company ordered 2 golf cart body frames as I build custom carts for my clients. Why would someone allow a customer to drive over 3 hours to pick up a product and not be honest enough to...

I reserved and paid for a golf cart for a rental in Sept. 2010. When I got the cart in March of 2011 I needed it for 1 week. The golf cart I received was dirty, slow, and bounced up & down while riding. I took it home and then returned it the next day asking for another cart. No such luck. I was told no other carts were available. Sue, the so called...

Villages Golf Cart Man Fought for every repair under broken warranty

Horrible customer service. We were told one year warranty on very expensive custom cart. We had to fight for every single event..and there have been several from leaking to broken welds. Owner calls us liars...says it's only a golf cart, not for $19, 000 it's not. Very, very difficult to deal with. Have lied to us and the company that finally did the repairs. Very unprofessional. Cart was manufactured by AGC and other dealers say they have no problems with manufacturers or distributors. This company continues to blame both for our problems.

Goodvibes, I'm glad that you had a good experience with this company. And I agree that ACG makes a good cart. But I fail to see how it can be our fault that when it rains there is as much water inside the cart as outside (we finally paid someone else to fix it) and that a front weld broke not once but twice. Now we have a burned out controller and the cart nearly caught on fire. When we called the Villages Cart Man, we were refused service, and when asked if they were going to honor the one year warranty were told to call ACG. This conversation was witnessed by a neighbor who frankly said he couldn't believe how we were treated. We did call ACG, they are sending new part to our home and we have to find someone else to repair it. In all fairness to the Cart Man company, they did lend us a cart last time ours was in the shop (for nearly a month) and we appreciate that, and Tony Sr. did follow up this time to see if ACG was taking care of this problem and they are.

Customer was so impatient that he demanded the product before it was complete.. I agree it was taking longer that usual and yes i was in and out of hospital several times with serious issues. My employees did not know how to handle him and his displeasure on the time frame. However it takes some time to complete these bodies with a large amount of it being labor. He showed up knowing clearly the bodies were not finished. He was upset and being hard to handle customer and demanded the product be given to him as is. He then took the product and disputed charges... we offered him a full refund if would return the product as received. He refused and never replied to the dispute until it was finally dropped by the credit card company. This is clearly a problem within itself. I was not available due to illness and im thinking it would have been different if i could have handled it.

This response is nothing but lies.
We never pushed we just wanted answers and got none. Still never received the parts we paid for.
Run don't walk from this company.
Note the Hummer body we received was a club car Precedent for the front and the rear was for a DS. How do you make that fit on a chassis?
Tony you are a lying thief.

Why would someone allow a customer to drive over 3 hours to pick up a product and not be honest enough to tell me it was not ready. Furthermore, they already had my money, paid by credit card.
I finally got the 2 bodies, they were very poorly manufactured. I had to modify them to fit the carts that I was building. Lastly they were supposed to provide the 'parts' to the body to complete the order. It has been 6 months and I still have not received my parts. With multiple phone calls, I have been told the owner is in the hospital. I find it interesting that the owner has been in the hospital for over 4 months now and no one knows how to complete my order.
They don't return phone calls, their products are of poor quality and high prices, and they lie. I am working with my credit card company to reverse the charges and get my money back for the portion they never supplied. I can only hope they step up and live by their word and provide me with what I paid for."

I too paid $13, 000 for a custom golf cart. Not only did it show up THREE TIMES as long as promised but it had half of the rivets not in, the chassis was all rusted out, the parts that were used to "customize" it were old AND scratched. The customer service was the pits. This Tony Jr. dude is an absolute creep and a sad excuse for a business man. BUYER BEWARE!

He bought a remanufactured golf cart with a 57 chevy body for 10k plus tax and transport fees not a new one.. the rivets were installed and the cart had been undercoated when he said that i asked for pictures which he never responded to. He personally insulted me by using names like a child. Calling me Fat (which I am) and stupid (which im not).. I refuse to be treated like that and with that being said I kindly hung up by saying "this conversation is over" I take alot of pride in my work. Search Tony Colangelo Golf Carts on google. 7 pages deep of info.

Wow! Tony Colangelo, Sr is a outstanding business man. He donates the use of his cars to charity events and even will let you take a car home to test it out before you buy it. I bought a Hummer and this car had a few issues that were fixed quickly and with out a problem. ACG is great car and would recommend Tony and his family business to anyone. Any person who has a problem with the Colangelo's must be a problem themselves. You know people are people and if you approach a problem with a problem then you might just be the problem. NO WAY can you call this company out. The Best in customer service in The Villages...

I also bought an ACG car from them. I never had any problems and they bend over backwards for me. They even give me a loaner car when ever I want something done. I cant believe Tony would not be helpful. There must be more to this story. ACG manufactures the car...so any problems would be a manufacture defect. I truly think there is some other circumstances beyond the scope of this complaint. Call Tony Jr or Tony Sr. and you will find they are more than happy to help their customers.
