October 28,2025 drove to 2808 Panola Road Lithonia Georgia for a simple oil change.
After leaving the shop heading home via the interstate noticing after accelerating for a few minutes a tapping noise began to creep into the sound of the engine, while turning into the entrance of the parking space turned off the vehicle allow it to roll into parking space put the vehicle in park open the door got out noticing clouds of smoke pouring from
beneath close hood and also noticing oil rushing down the driveway.
Immediately called the shop and got customer service that attempted to get the shops manager on the phone wasn't able to get the manager the customer service representative assured me that an email would be sent to the manager and area manager and that someone will be making contact within 24/48 hours, customer service agent apologized for everything that has gone wrong in this experienced this oil change and ended the call.
December 1,2025 Valvoline manager DJ contact me stating he apologize first for the delayed response and for the bad experience from the oil change and DJ assured me that he was going to take care of everything to get me back on the road.
The first thing he did was send out a Valvoline technician that inspected the vehicle asked me to pop the hood as he physically got down underneath the vehicle inspected the filter and oil pan technician then requested starting up the vehicle which was done as he listened, he then asked me to turn off the vehicle stating "were going to have to fix you vehicle because it was doubled sealed and the oil filter and oil pan is leaking, the technician also stated he would inform the manager and he will be sending out a tow truck to take the vehicle to the repair shop.
December 3,2025 a tow truck pulled in position the driver got out of his vehicle the phone ranged, it was DJ letting me know he sent the tow truck to take the vehicle to the repair shop for repairs also noticed that DJ was calling from his personal phone to update me on his intentions of towing the vehicle to repair shop "CHAMPS" really wasn't familiar with the name of the company and because the vehicle is indeed a classic vehicle didn't want to just leave it based on Valvoline to go silent here and there.
The manager came out once the tow arrived asking where this vehicle was coming from the driver responded Valvoline and the Manager asked was this an oil change gone wrong? we both replied Yes and manager asked nonchalantly "what is going on at that shop with oil changes, and he also mentioned that this is the sixth vehicle in 30 days that needs an engine after an oil change.
The manager said that Valvoline don't replace new engine and they only use used engine for claims made detailing engine replacement.
The manager diagnosed the vehicle "engine replacement" oil filter and oil pan leakage and asked that the vehicle be towed back to home and because this is the 6th vehicle the shop manager stated that he doesn't want to be seemingly involved in a fraud ring and wouldn't be interested in repairing the vehicle, after numerous calls to DJ the Valvoline shop manager and after no response the customer service agent advice that getting the vehicle tow back home and keeping the receipt for later to add to my claim after following the advice we had the vehicle towed back home until the next day December 4,2025 Valvoline manager DJ called stating he's decided to get a second opinion and allowed the tow truck driver to do the diagnostic, which was done with the results reading oil filter and oil pan leaking with banging engine sound and Valvoline was sent a copy and so did the owner of the vehicle and then DJ called on the December 5,2025 on the recorded claim line making statements like the results of the diagnostic stated the oil pan was leaking and Valvoline does not perform any work so were going to have to deny the claim.
