I received a letter Key for Key Exchange Program for my existing lease which is for a Honda Accord 2010 expiring Sept of 2013. According to the letter mail posted on 2/12/2013 the program states they will exchange my "current vehicle for a Brand New 2012 Honda without spending a dime out of your pocket." I made an appt for Sunday, February 17, 2013, a gentleman by the name of Steve was my salesperson. He told me they did not have any 2012 vehicles left but he would give me the same deal for the 2013 if I made the deal with him on the spot. He told me that I would owe the tax and the 1st month payment. However the letter I received for the Key for Key Exchange Program clearly states in bold "Plus... As an added bonus Honda of Staten Island will make your first month's payment up to $1000.00 all you have to do is bring this letter and your car for a visual inspection." Then he proceeded to write my new lease contract and reviewed the terms with me. He said in order for me to keep the same monthly payments I would have to put down $2, 600. At this point I balked and said forget it this is not the deal I came in here for. The letter I received is clearly a false advertisement in which they had no intention of honoring.
The ** refers to the bottom of the letter which states Key for Key is based on a standard lease contract of 36 to 48 months or a finance contract. I am aware there are some costs involved but no where near the $2, 600 they were hitting me with.
