We purchased two used Kias (2012 Soul and 2013 Rio) in 2015 from a dealership that we just found out no longer exists: Freehold Kia, 4044 Route 9 South, Freehold NJ.
Before going to the dealership, I asked on the telephone about the status of the cars and was told that they were "certified used cars" which meant that the 100, 000 mile / ten year warranty would apply. At least, that was what I was told. Once at the dealership, the salesperson assured me of the same thing.
Very recently, I found it necessary to service the Rio. I took it to a nearby Kia dealership and was told the car had no warranty remaining. I went home to search my records and discovered that the original dealer had added a service contract with Cost Guard, at a expense of $3, 500 per vehicle. We did not know about this, nor did we approve it. We'd been lied to about both cars keeping their original 100, 000 mile / 10 year warranty, and the cost of our purchase was inflated by $7, 000.00. To make matters worse, when I called Cost Guard, I was told that their warranty (which I am STILL paying for) just expired.
These autos were the second and third autos we've purchased from Kia. In the coming year, we'd planned to purchase another brand new Kia. But after being lied to by the dealership, charged $7, 000 for warranties we did not approve, and now after being left with two aging autos without service coverage, I will never do business with Kia again.
Your company makes excellent vehicles. I could have been a lifetime Kia owner, with many purchases still ahead. Now, I will never again purchase a Kia or recommend Kia to anyone who asks.
It is a disgrace how we were treated by individuals who represent your product. Shame on them, and shame on Kia.
