January 2, 2024
I'm a senior who bought supplemental plan from United Health early December 2023: It offers free membership. I advised club I wanted to cancel my present membership and switch. Member of r staff responded and asked for authorization to cancel and info concerning my supplemental plan from United - but there was no deadline for getting this info to you. I authorized the cancellation and would supply United info when I converted to senior plan.
Sp when I tried to set my supplemental membership Jan 2 2024 I was told I'd have to be put on a Wait List. I knew nothing of this change, but wanted to work out that day. Member of staff informed that in order to work out that day, I would have to pay $100 and reinstate my founding membership. No exceptions. I must be put on wait list.
This seems unfair to me. Does it seem unfair to you? My United coverage began December 1. so If I had been informed of Lifetime's change on January 1, I would have converted early December — but I didn't know they were startin to discriminate against seniors. And they hadn't advised me of upcoming change.
After my workout that day and paying the $100, I staff who seemed to understand the unfairness and said she would forward my complaint up the chain. She also thought my situation would be remedied and my $100 credited in future billing cycle. I thought the matter was resolved.
So I was surprised to receive email from them next day denying my request to convert to senior membership, be refunded $100 and be taken off wating list.
My wife and I are founding members of the club here. We like the facility, use it often, have spent $8000 in dues plus another $1500 or so at the salon. My wife Janet loves the aesthetician who does her facials.
I was glad to glad to hear they were slowing growth the of the membership trying to reduce the crowded facility. I had complained last January about this very thing:the lack of parking and limited access to overcrowded classes. But reducing growth at the expense of a particular group, Seniors, is discriimination
How do we reverse Lifetime's unfair policy directed to Seniors?
Claimed loss: Refund $100
Desired outcome: Be taken off Wait List given senior membership
