I am a Black female, a Dillard card holder; on July 20th, I entered the store via the handbag department as I entered store clerk #1. Pam told Store Clerk #2. unsure of her name to watch me, I immediately turned around and asked #1. Pam, did you tell her to watch me as I shop? #1. the comment was no. I said to lock the case. I then explained to her to look at me and suggested that I needed motioning while shopping was offensive and disheartening as a black female. Clerk #2. joined in the conversation rudely and said various racial comments. #1. stated I have waited on you before; I do not need to watch you. I explained to her that NO black female should be monitored while shopping. She called the manager, Gregg, who showed up bise and said I was hollering untrue, so he immediately gave me the angry black female.
I then tried to explain to Gregg why I felt I at least deserved an apology; he said the clerks didn't comment. WATCH ME. I asked him how he knew that to be accurate, and Gregg said because the clerk said they didn't say it. I tried to talk with Gregg about why, as a customer, it is not the best practice to look at a black female and comment as #1. stated, and I asked him if he could imagine how prejudiced it appeared; he said No, and they did not apologize and walked away. I have never been so humiliated and belittled while spending my money. And the store is in a community where black people spend their money. This manager and his team members seem comfortable with this practice, and Dillards and Wells Fargo, the cardholder, should do something about it! This behavior is a practiced skill. I know I'm not the first; it was 1950, for sure The only thing Gregg and his team should have said was COLOR NOT ALLOWED! I tried to video tape the conversation video was not on. However the store can look at the video tape
Desired outcome: unsure
