When I wanted to cancel our membership this summer, they said I needed to do so in person at our local life time fitness location. The employee at the front desk asked me to sign a termination form and said he would process it. He mentioned because of the 30-day termination notice (which I was aware of), we would be charged one more month's fees before the credit card charges would stop. I was fine with that. To our dismay, a second charge and third charge in subsequent months took place so we not only disputed them with our credit card company but blocked life time's ability to charge us anymore. Soon after we started receiving collection weekly notices via e-mail about our past due amounts. Mind you, their charges were unauthorized after our 30-day termination. They continue to claim they have no documentation of my termination. Had I known this would turn into such a hassle, I would have asked for a copy of the termination form I signed at our local gym. I have provided them with the name of the employee and the date and approximate time I signed the termination form. Rather than doing their due diligence through internal channels, they are putting the onus on me to prove I signed a termination form despite my repeated requests that they stop sending us the harassing e-mails. What a bunch of crock! This is a well known tactic that many gyms employ to make extra money from unsuspecting customers who thought they terminated their membership and perhaps don't pay close attention to their credit card statements. Shame on life time fitness!
