My girlfriend felt an asthma attack coming on December 20 and called the local CVS pharmacy to see if she could get a prescription inhaler or a Primatene Mist (OTC) inhaler. The pharmacy tech that she spoke to told her that they had Primatene Mist inhalers but could not sell them. (These inhalers are scheduled to be banned for sale by the FDA on December 31 because the propellant contains CFCs.) She offered to pay full price for just the mouthpiece because she has an inhaler but was missing the mouthpiece. The tech said that he couldn't help her and argued with her although she was clearly at the onset of an asthma attack based on her audible wheezing. When she asked to speak to the pharmacist, he said that she was busy. When she asked his name, he would not respond and put her on hold. We rushed to a local Walgreen's and were able to purchase an inhaler. I went back to the CVS later that evening to find out who the pharmacy tech was that was working. I found that it was Tim and he and the pharmacist were immediately argumentative when I confronted him about it. CVS is a company that provides healthcare services but the indifferent customer service that we received had the potential to put a life at risk.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
