I recently had a negative experience with my hotel reservation at the Red Roof Inn Plus in Miami Airport. I had made a mistake in the name and called Priceline to correct it. They directed me to speak with the front desk, and a manager named Melissa gave clear guidance that I could cancel the reservation, rebook with the correct name, and receive a refund for the previous reservation. Unfortunately, Priceline could not honor the manager's guidance, and I was left to deal with the hotel myself.
I reached out to the hotel and spoke to Melissa, who was unprofessional and rude to me. She put me on hold for 30 minutes, yelled at me, and hung up. When I called back, she refused to provide me with a number for her superior and hung up again. I reported the hotel to Priceline and customer relations, but I was charged twice for the same reservation.
This experience left me feeling devastated and angry. I believe I was treated unfairly because of my slight foreign accent, and I think these types of discriminatory practices should be prohibited by law. It was an unpleasant experience, and I felt uncomfortable checking in for fear of encountering such a rude person again. Now I want someone to address this where I am not punished twice because they MISLED Me.
