Kaiser Permanente - Behavior

December 9, 2019

Today I took my 15 year old son Samson Gonzalez to urgent care Kaiser in murrieta... They said because of his symptoms he needed to go to kaiser riverside emergency room or I could go to rancho for emergency care because they had someone that could better help him. So we went to kaiser riverside because I wanted to go to my other sons college to pick up some things, and Kaiser was not far from there. I get to Kaiser and check in the emergency room, they asked me what was going on, I told them he wasn't feeling good and that he's been hallucinating because of his fever.. as soon as I said that she asks me to scoot over so she could talk to my son. He confirmed that was true, then she told us to come in the back. They asked me did he say he wanted to hurt anyone, I said no. They asked him did he want to hurt himself or anyone else, he clearly said no, and said he just wasn't feeling good. They pretty much disregarded what he said and kept asking him those types of questions. They didn't take his blood pressure or anything. The nurse asked me did he have a fever, I said it was 102 or 101 last night, but it's been 99.2 all day today. Then she took his temp. She said she had to keep him there because of concern and said He needed to change into other clothes, that I couldn't be by him with my purse. I didn't understand. I was confused and told her he's just not feeling good, hopefully they can give him an x-ray and check his chest because I told her he said his chest was hurting. She Made him go in the back and change into his garment. He had to take a urine sample, they wouldn't let me take my purse in the bathroom with him. I started feeling uncomfortable and told her I would just leave and take him somewhere else, she said I was not allowed to leave. I had a panic attack. I looked calm on the outside, but inside I was freaking out. She had security and a nurse stand next to him the hole time. The nurse also had the security guard check to see if my son had any weapons on him. I was very offended. I had to take a picture. He did nothing. We came in just so he can get some help because he was sick. The whole time in there they didn't take any x-ray or any tests to see if something was wrong with him, all they did was hold us against our will because he might have been a threat. The doctor finally came to talk with him, and asked him some questions registering his mental state. I told him this usually happens when he has a fever. Just like I told the nurse and the check in lady in the beginning. The doctor finally outruled him being a threat and said we were good to go. I told him my son was still sick and that's why we came. He just listened to his back and chest and said he was fine, he said he was going to write up a prescription for respiratory infection. But I felt like he didn't even check him as he needed too. My son was complaining about chest hurting, his nose bleeding for 2 says, and feeling like he was going to faint, plus he had not eaten in 2 days because he was feeling too ill. The nurse gave us our clothes after the doctor "cleared" us from the security, and we left. I didn't check out because I was anxious. They called me 2 times after I left because I didn't get discharged or get my papers... they said they prescribed medicine and gave instructions, but I don't know how because he was not fully evaluated. I want to move forward with a law suite agains Kaiser. We were forced to stay there against our will and was not allowed to leave. My son is under age and was confused.. he thought he was in trouble for something. We did not get treatment like we were suppose too, and the doctor still prescribed us medication when he did not fully evaluate him. I understand that if a patient goes to the hospital stating that they were going to hurt themselves or someone else, that this is protocol... but my son came and said he had a fever and was hallucinating, and that happens whenever he gets a fever.
