The initial estimate we received from Two Men & A Truck was supposed to be between $700 and $1,000. However, on the day before the move, the supervisor communicated with us and charged our credit card $700. But the next day, they added an extra $1,000, bringing the total cost to $1,700. The move was scheduled for September 17th, and on that day, the movers worked for 11 hours with two unloading times. We didn't monitor these unloading times ourselves, as we assumed that the movers needed breaks and meals. However, the company never informed us of any procedures regarding this. That night, we called the supervisor to approve the $700 charge, and we signed all the online paperwork they provided. As a result, we decided to tip the movers generously, thinking that this was the reason for their night time procedure. However, the next day, without informing us, they charged an additional $1,000 to our credit card. After we complained, they deducted two hours from the bill, which we assume were for a lunch hour and a supper hour. It turns out that their initial estimate was worthless, as they actually charge $129 per hour and extra for the truck. In my opinion, their business estimates are misleading, and their overall business practices seem deceptive.

The company did not follow practices to ensure the safe delivery of a furniture piece resulting in damage. On August 20, I hired Two Men and a Truck to move a *** from one local location to another. The two men involved with the preparation and removal of the bed took no precautions to keep potential damage from happening. After laying the bed on its side, I inquired if they thought proper wrapping was needed to keep the doors from opening enroute. They did not answer me. While unloading the truck and moving the bed (on a short dolly in proportion to the bed), the bed was twisted in such a way that the top and the side separated. They called another worker and the worker arrived during which the question was asked of the workers why the bed had not been wrapped. The reply was from the mover who seemed to take the leadership role of the two during the move that it was determined that that wasn't necessary. The apparent supervisor told me that someone would contact me within two days to make an appointment to determine if the bed would need to be removed to make the repairs and if it would be fixed on location and he departed. When the movers departed they stated that this was a great company and this accident was very much an exception. The company would make things right. I asked them to wrap the bed before they left to ensure that it did not get further damage before their carpenters would arrive. Because of two people reassuring me that the Bed would be repaired, I paid the bill and tipped the workers. When I did not hear from the company I called an the customer service representative who listened to my summary and only after I told him my summation did he locate the summary of damages statement that had been submitted. He also agreed this bed should never have been moved without wrapping to stabilize it. He said he would copy the email to me that summarized the damage that he would submit to whoever does the repair work and he encouraged me to utilize his cellphone to talk to him anytime about progress made on getting this repair made. I did receive his copy but nothing was copied to me as the response he received. When I did not hear from him, I called and inquired when I should clear my calendar to allow for workers in my home. At that time he said that he was sending me a check for damages at $.60/pound and asked what size bed it was. I provided the answer and the measurements of the bed. I asked when the bed was weighed and he said he would consult a manual for the average weight of a *** and the amount he would be giving me was less than $50.00. He stated I should have taken out the extra insurance. I believe that the accident insurance is for accidents and not for negligent behaviors practiced by the company. Fifteen months ago I moved across Florida and utilized Two Men and a Truck from Tallahassee, Florida to move my houseful of things. Everything arrived perfectly and proper precautions were used with every item. China, cutglass, furniture of all sizes, etc. arrived without a scratch or without any breakage. Based on the lack of volume of items in the move of August and the past feeling of complete customer satisfaction with a past Two Men and a Truck franchise, I did not feel that extra insurance was needed. I am left with a non-functioning bed and $50.00 due to this company's negligent behavior. I must warn others that this company does not admit their mistakes nor make things right after being negligent. I contacted the corporate headquarters of Two Men and a Truck and lodged my complaint. Their response was that I would be contacted by the local franchise to discuss my concerns. I now have a nonfunctional *** and $50.00 to hire my own person to make the repairs.
