Travelers Insurance review: Very expensive
After more than 20 years as a homeowners and auto policy customer I found out I could cut my monthly cost of insurance by almost half by switching to Progressive. Most of the savings was on the auto portion. Traveler’s started a new billing system in the spring/summer of 2026 which resulted in an undercharge. In order to correct this they jacked up my monthly premium payment to over $800 until the end of my policy period which got my attention. For many years I didn’t stay informed of what they were charging me. I called their customer service center and during the 45 minutes I was on hold I switched to Progressive. (Progressive made switching so easy!). When someone at Travelers finally answered the phone I cancelled all my policies and ripped them a new one for charging such high prices to a loyal 20+ year customer. I want to point out that all the persons on my auto policy had a spotless driving record with only 1 deer collision and four very minor no-fault collisions (in 20+ years as best I can remember) all of which cost Travelers less than $4000 and no homeowners claims at all. I would discourage anyone from using this insurance company. They claim their prices to be competitive but that was not my experience. I would have selected ZERO STARS if I could have.
