Travel Resorts of America Travel Resorts of America falsely represented all costs and lacked full disclosure at time of sale as failed to resolve the issues at hand

Travel Resorts of America falsely represented all costs and lacked full disclosure at time of sale as failed to resolve the issues at hand. In mid October , my wife and I attended a free tour and sales pitch at Gettysburg Battlefield Resort in PA. for Travel Resorts of America (TRA). Their membership was portrayed to be upfront and appealing to us. We spent a long time asking very specific financial questions about joining. The answers provided appeared to be satisfactory. Unfortunately we later learned that wasn't the case. After noticing issues on our monthly bills, I had contacted TRA about them. The issues were, 1. The principal balance shown on the bills never lowered with each payment that was made, 2. the principal balance was not what we were told our cost would be and was almost $1,000.00 more, 3. The maintenance dues were being billed to us even though they were to be included for the first year of membership,, 4. The payment made last month was never credited to the account and showed a past due balance. I contacted our salesman about it but he was on vacation so I called TRA Member Services to resolve these issues. I was met with a less than helpful and somewhat rude attitude once I explained the problems. I was told that "I agreed to the terms on the bill" and basically the information I was given during my tour was not correct. When I then requested to terminate our membership, I was told I couldn't and the documents will be emailed to me to read. I got the email and read through it. The one document emailed to me shows all these added expenses and fees on top of fees which I never got in my welcome packet to review nor believe we actually signed because had I seen it, we never would have agreed to it. I informed TRA of this fact. The document I got at the time of joining states the final cost of $8,495.00. When I questioned our salesman about pricing, at the time of joining, I asked "what exactly is the final cost with all taxes and fees? Simply put, because I don't like surprises". He showed me the pink sales receipt with $8495.00 shown and said that was it. Because of the false representations, lack of full disclosure at the time of joining, misleading information provided at the time of sale, and added expenses to our original agreement... I informed them I'm terminating our business with TRA. The following correspondence was sent to TRA. The salesman's name has been redacted with "X"s... I have all documents from that day except for this one, in the screenshot I just took from your email that's shown below. I would not have agreed to this. I asked XXXX for the final cost with no hidden fees etc. He showed me the pink $8495 paper which I had no issue with. We'd pay it off before May and no interest... no big deal. But now I see it's almost $1,000 more AND the maintenance fees are NOT included for the first year, as I specifically asked about. Furthermore, we read each page that evening with XXXX XXXXXXXX there, and the one shown below was NOT in our agreement packet. Again, I wouldn't have agreed to this nor would ***, had we gotten this document. Because of this, I am not comfortable dealing with a business that has hidden fees, no full disclosure, misleading information given, and leads me to believe is operating under bad business practices. I'm an up front, straight forward person, and expect the same from all persons I conduct business with. I no longer have that relationship with your establishment. So as of today I'm ending our business relationship. It's a shame, because I did like the one facility we saw. The only document we got from TRA, at the time of sale, was the pink receipt and is added to this complaint. The white "full disclosure" document they claim we signed with them, even though I informed them we had not seen it, it was not given to us for review, and we never would've signed it if it was given to us, is also attached. Had it been provided, we immediately would've rejected their offer. Also if we had it in our welcome packet for review, our business with them would've been terminated immediately.

Travel Resorts of America I wish to cancel my unused membership and obtain a refund

I wish to cancel my unused membership and obtain a refund. Travel Resorts of America, will not work with me in any way to resolve the issue. Travel Resorts of America (TRA) has flat out refused to release me from my membership contract even though I have NEVER used it. TRA is unjustly enriched by insisting that I pay for services I have not used and cannot use. Since the refusal is unreasonable and made in bad faith, I feel I am entitled to reimbursement of the $ 3,028.68 paid and for the contract to be canceled without penalty. I signed up for the premier membership 01/17, at a cost of $14,995 plus fees. Financing the down payment of $2300 via Good Sams Club and the remainder through the in house TRA financing. I have paid off the $2300 for the down payment and to date I have paid $728.68 of the balance to TRA with another automatic draft for $182.17 coming out of my account on June 21. I have made all payments on time even though I have NEVER used the facility nor any of the services promised under the membership. I do not camp, I do not own an RV nor do I camp in a tent, and I told *** and *** this after my tour of Sycamore Lodge. So the camping portion was not for me, but I was sold on the other "perks" that came with the membership. I was lead to believe that I would save a lot of money on hotel stays and vacations through the Good Sams Club that was part of the membership. I was told that my family could also use these services in addition to the camp ground services under my membership. Part of the sales presentation was a demonstration of how the booking process works through the website and how to access discounts on the My Deals app on a phone. I was told at the presentation that if I wanted to make any travel arrangements within the first month, that I needed to go through ***. What they did not tell me is that I could not access the website to compare pricing until my membership packet came in the mail. I found that out after the fact. I received my member packet 2 weeks after I signed up and I registered on the various websites in hopes of finding savings on a business trip in Sept and a family vacation in the summer. It would not give me full access because it was still within the first 30 days. I reached out to *** on January 31, for help with booking a trip to NY in September and she said she would look into it, but she never got me any information on it. Once the 30 days were up (it's now the end of February), I logged on and while comparing prices between what I could get through my membership and other websites not under my membership, there was no difference at all. In fact in some cases, it cost more to book it under the membership website than to use a website open to anyone. Of course I was not pleased about this, but I thought, I'd give it a try and see if this was all it was made out to be. I was researching for my NY trip coming up in September when the COVID-19 pandemic began and so I decided to postpone making any travel arrangements. As the days, weeks, and months, went by, I decided, I should just cancel the membership which I had never used and at that point had no idea if I would ever be able to use it. I sent a cancelation letter to TRA on April 17th and got a call from *** on the 23rd saying I could not cancel my membership until the balance was paid in full. I asked if there was anything else I could do other than paying $15,000 just to cancel a membership that I have not used and I was told no. At this point I was determined to read through every line of every page of the documents they gave me. I reached out to *** hoping I could handle this at the local resort level. She could not help me but reached out to *** who told her he could not help me and to refer me back to member services because they could help me. The local number *** gave me did not work, I called the 800 number she gave me and spoke with *** again and I asked if there was any way to change my membership if they would not cancel it and she told me no. I have attached a more detailed statement, additional documents upon request.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! They misled me about access (lied). When i actually tried to use my membership, I found there was NOTHING AVAILABLE, even though I was searching at the longest time out allowed. They also refused to cancel my membership because there is an outstanding loan.
