Vacation rentals
Advance travel network called us October 2022 and said they could rent our vacation rentals out in 30-60 days but it may take up to 120 days. They told us they needed the weeks for a big convention in Las Vegas at the grandview which is a timeshare we own. We never heard from them. Called in January and they said they were still waiting for offers. This did t make sense cause they said they needed the time for December. They took $1960 from us at the initial call. In March we contacted them again and they said we couldn’t get a refund for a year. So now October of 2023 we call and they still refuse a refund and say the only thing they can do is continue to market the property. Unfortunately I do t believe they do anything but steal peoples money and feed them a bunch of bull to continue to keep money. This is a telemarketing company who is robbing hardworking people of their money offering things that are never going to happen.
unable to cancel this contract within 10 days for any reason
On 8-8-22 I agreed to a contract with RCI to rent my timeshare vacation property involving 6 weeks at a cost of $3,000. On 8/9/22 I decided to cancel within 10 days for a full refund. I made many attempts to cancel through e-mail via customer support, but each attempt was unable to be sent due to an ERROR and I was told to try again later. I tried various times for 2 days. Each attempt was met with an error and I was unable to contact Advanced Travel Network. I went to the Post office on 8/9/22 and sent them a written certified letter stating my intent to cancel to the address provided to me. My certified letter did not get accepted and no one signed for my letter at this address. I have documentation of this.
Desired outcome: I want my right to cancel this contract for any reason within 10 days after the date I signed this contract. My notice of cancellation should be effective upon 8/9/22. My refund should be made within 20 days after their receipt of notice.
Subscription scam / timeshare scam
We signed up for this plan thinking we would be able to take advantage of travel with a place to stay that would be clean and available. Since we signed up 8 years ago we have Ben able to stay at three places. All three places were very dirty and not up to par. We have tried to cancel our subscription/timeshare (although they say it is not) to no avail. They call and berate and tell us we owe dues when we have clearly ended our relationship previously. Was told we could end our relation ship at the end of last year. When we did they just stated well you can’t and you owe us Dues for this year. Can someone help?
Desired outcome: Cancel subscription/timeshare and some money back.

unethical behavior
since 15 jan. of 16 i have paid $6, 442.84 to sundance vacations. after a high pressured seminar with employees who would not accept no. tried repeatedly to get out, to no avail. i just want out. now will continue to be charged $29.92 a month for the rest of my life. will never use this. after calling several times, could not get past the sales rep. account #65-w-297725. this all started by going to a christian concert in pittsburgh by a solicitor saying i won a trip. never received any such trip.
Desired outcome: refund. at least stop auto withdrawl of 29.92 / month
TAN Confiscated credit for their closing on arbitrary date
After scheduling a vacation in Palm Springs with TAN, and paying for it almost 2 years ago, TAN cancelled the vacation as the location was closed due to Covid.
They kept the money and gave a credit. Then confiscated the credit with an arbitrary date in the middle of Covid travel concerns and closed borders this year.
This money, by California law, should have been refunded. Instead I allowed them to make it a credit as I expect to travel next year with them once Covid variants are less an issue. They should never confiscate money paid to them for a vacation they could not deliver upon.
California Attorney General Consumer Protection division has been contacted.
Desired outcome: Reinstate the credit or provide a refund.
Tan customer relations and commitment to travelers
I had a vacation booked through Tan. During the pandemic, which was cancelled by the condo . Tan never called me to inform me the reservation could not be met. I called the condo directly two days prior to leaving and was then told by the condo that I could not be accommodated .
I called Tan and told them the condo would not allow guests . I asked for a refund. I was denied. I was offered a limited credit, with destinations and time restrictions . I will soon loose my money. I was offered international destinations during covid which are impossible to use or a stay at the jersey shore in January. The rep (Lakendra ) was so nasty over the phone . It's misleading to even put this company under the category of hospitality.
The way this package and "commitment" is portrayed is no were near the actual experience.
Desired outcome: Refund
If you are a California resident, please contact the California Attorney General's office. By law they must offer a refund rather than credit if they cancel.
Unknown maintenance fees
I've received a notice from a recovery agency, stating i'm owing tan the sum of $198.00. I have absolutely no idea what this about and I am very annoyed with this notice. Tan / sundance vacations are not being very forthcoming with their information and they're trying to get money from me any way possible. I have never used any of their packages yet they insist I must pay?!
availability of spaces
TAN greatly exaggerates what they have available and when it's available. not to mention it seems from others experiences that the properties are run down and dated in most cases. We tried to book a vacation - gave a two month window a YEAR in advance and there's ONE property in a 500mile radius of where we want. No way. No way at all. That's the way it's been every vacation since our first. When we booked that one the place looked great online. Get there, the couch is broken and uncomfortable. The screen door to the patio is falling apart, there are stains everywhere, the doors to the range are broken (i fixed them), and generally it looks like they furnished the place by going to goodwill and buying whatever they could.
it really is not even close to what they said it would be. The value isn't there either... we did calculations and could have gotten a nicer place for the same amount (remember you've paid for each vacation, AND have to pay a booking fee, AND upkeep fees each year.
Yea stay far away from this scam. It's not worth it. Save your money and go on a better vacation.
forced purchase of vacation package
After my husband convinced me to go to this presentation in exchange for a free Vegas package, we ended up with a vacation package/time share we cannot afford. They threaten to ruin our credits for late or missed payments, they call at anytime any day to collect payments. The vacation package is promised to be paid for through your purchase but some of the properties have hidden fees which turns out to be more than a regular vacation. In addition the free Vegas package is not free it cost less to book it on your own. I would like to get out of this trap. You attend their presentation, you turn down the offer to purchase but they wouldn't let you leave, they keep sending different bosses with different offers eventually making it look affordable promising to work with you until you cave and left with no way out.
Are you still a member of TAN? Have you used any of their vacation homes in Hilton Head?
Scam
My husband and I purchased what we thought wouldt be a good vacation 'time share' with this company. We were told many times throughout the sales process that our monthly fee would never increase when in fact the charges increased to 5% each year. We were told we would never have to pay maintenance fee and they started taking out a monthly maintenance fee from our account without notifying us or us agreeing to or signing off on it. They told us that we would pay a flat fee of $9000.00 and when in fact it would cost us over $12, 000. They did a credit check with out our approval. They never informed us that Florida was constantly "in season" in order to book a vacation there it would cost another $30/a day to rent! They lied to us and scammed us 100%. I want a full refund of my monies paid or I will proceed with legal action.
Has TAN resolved this issue for you? Are you still members of TAN? We are also members of TAN.
Scam on Timeshare
My wife and I bought 13 weeks/vacations from them for about $3600 like your traditional time share. We were told that to exchange, you would either pay $0 or $99 depending on the time of the year. Whenever we went to book, they said it was peak season and tried to charge us about $600 to use one of our "free weeks". We tried several times and then just gave up. However, every October we would get a call from Customer Service saying that we owed our Maintenance Fee - $345. We would say "we haven't used it, just cancel it". However, we couldn't because we owed the money first. So, like idiots, instead of fighting it, we would pay and ask to have us cancelled. The following year, we would get a call again and have the same argument. We have done this run around for at least the last five years. TAN is a scam that you can never get out of and they don't deliver on their promises. Stay as far away from them as you can.
ripoff sales
We have been a member of this vacation club for several years now. In Sept. they pitched us a new sales pitch which we fell for. OK so now we have it but the problem is they told us that we would pay $4000 if we paid it off before November 15th with a credit card. Otherwise it would go into the payment plan with an initial investment of $5000. Two week...

What my husband and I thoght to be a great vacation option from travel advantage network (tan) has been nothing but a scam and rip off. For 1 year we have paid for this package never receiving the "so called" free cruise that was used to lure us to purchase their package. Now we are being told we owe them money for monthly service fees. No notifications have been sent and only a phone call with a rude agen informing us that we must pay. To top that we were never told that a loan was done for the package. To date no one has called to address our concerns... Do not do it you will regret it!
I have owned with Travel Advantage Network since 2008 but worked so did not use most of the vacation sites. I am now retired and the ones that I kept a list of traveling to now is considered VIP exclusive only. For example Westin Cape Coral at Marina Village was not VIP nor was Purple Parrot @ Perdido Key, FL and Myrtle Beach Resort or Greenlinks Resort in Naples, FL and now these units are VIP. VIP means you pay more to get these nice resorts that were once not even called VIP. I can also say I have requested a copy of my contract twice and still have not received it and it is noted that I have requested it. At this point it is a scam.
We have had TAN for several years and we really don't use it they talked about how wonderful this is and that's not a timeshare. So we are trying to cancel this TAN and we can't! We have a contract supposedly are unable to cancel! You have contracts for many different things, but you can cancel them!
This is such a bad company that binds you to something that you are trapped into paying!
Don't fall for it!
I have been a TAN member since 1998. We joined while walking along the beach in Kauai, HI. We used our first ten weeks over the years through our trips and gave them as gifts. In 2017 we purchased an additional 10 weeks, and now have a total of 12. We have never had a totally bad experience but have watched the prices, locations and available properties change over the years. When we first joined it cost $89.00 to book a week, regardless of the number of BRs required. I remember getting a two-story, 4 BR 3BA, house in Florida near the amusement parks for $149 for the entire week. The management change put the business face to what was once a travel-oriented, somewhat caring, company. They are now coming after us with the one-on-one company update, no way, back off, we paid the cost to be the boss, use our weeks, being less than ideal, yet, in most cases, they are still competitive, and in many situations, still a great deal.
Totally agree! I advise anyone interested in timeshares or vacationing to STAY AWAY from TAN! You over pay, then they never have rentals open where I want to travel. Then they scammed me into VIP, what a complete waste!
I have been a satisfied TAN member for many years - but I am sharing this to let others know. Recently I was contacted by TAN and asked to have an IN-PERSON meeting to "discuss my plan" Of course, I knew there had to be a sales pitch - but she assured me it was just to discuss changes to the plan - and said that there was a FREE 2 nite stay in Las Vegas or Orlando, including airfare! So - then I was POSITIVE there was a sales pitch involved - but figured why not right? Well - they came - they were very nice - the pitch was for the VIP plan - the first cost was $50k! They brought it down considerably before they left but I don't use the plan I have often enough and I didn't want to bite before actually SEEING some of what they called new and exclusive locations - AND they said that I had to make a decision right then - right now. Total turn off ! They guys were nice and polite - but yeah - talk about high pressure sales! Then when I received my FREE certificate - it was actually a $200 deposit required that is to cover the taxes - but they can't tell you how much that is? AND then when you go to book - you have to PAY first - and you have to put in 3 sets of dates - all more than 45 days apart - and you have to WAIT to see if it is approved. Overall - very unhappy - and I am thinking this is part of the new management - I will be using my last few weeks and be done - my trust is broken. I am doubting that I will ever get the FREE $200 package anyway - I will add to this review when I know.
The FREE trip you supposedly win for buying or listening is NOT Free. We ended up spending over $1000 for this free trip. When I added up the cost, I realized we actually paid for the trip. It is a scam! DONT do it!
My husband and I received a call about tickets that we won for a cruise, we had to go to an office in new jersey for information about it, we went and what they mainly spoke was about a membership for travel packages, at the end we acquired a membership with few trips, that happened in 2013, the years passed and in 2017 they called us to make a review of our membership, of which we had never used because for the dates we were looking for there was no availability so the only way to use them was if we acquired the vip membership, with my husband we agreed to do so, guess what? until the date I am writing this review we have not been able to use this service and we has been paying month to month for it, today I called to cancel it and for my surprise I have a loan to pay for around $ 10, 000 dollars, the people who sold the membership didn't tell us about this loan under our names, the only thing that the said was about membership, now in order to cancel it we have to pay this loan they never told us about it. my advice to you, do not acquire anything from this company, because you will lose your money.

rip off
I was guaranteed a free vacation and purchased an 8, 000 package vacation plan. I made a $100.00 deposit for the free vacation and when i called to book the trip 6 months later they stated that they emailed me to book the reservations and never replied so I lost the oppurtunity to have the free trip. I never received the email from them and they never told...

I know for a fact this is not the first complaint of TAN. Their sell on their vacation packages were all about the luxorious resots/condos they offer for such low prices. However, no matter when I try to book vacations with them, nothing is ever available. You're only allowed to book one year in advance and even at that point there's barely anything available. Alot of their condos in which they have links to pictures and amentities for say "photo may not reveal actual picture of resort." What kind of scam is that? They can just find any random picture on the internet of a resort and post it next to their resort name. Like I said, 'm by far not the first complaint of this company. They have ripped off and scammed many people in the US by pressuring and bullying them. I personally bought a low package that I could afford but am tired of the constant availability issues they claim would not occur.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I see they haven’t changed the map on where to go at Ocean Cove which is at 10 Mooring Buoy, which is where the unit is at.
Great location but my 5 year old grandson could make a much better map.
They have an offer where I pay $1600 upfront and then they rent out my GetAway weeks from Interval. Interval says NO WAY! I can book my friends or use myself but if I rent which is against the rules, I would be responsible for all damage, fees, etc. Don't get caught in this
This company called us and offered to sell four weeks of our timeshare if we invested money they would sell the timeshare for $1800 a week and give us that money. We want our money back because they haven’t sold our timeshares. After researching this company it seems to be a ponzi scheme or a scam.
You can see this ticket, how much we did, let me know how much money tickets were made in it and after the cancellation, how much money we have returned, please give me information about it.
Travel Advantage Network (TAN)
THIS COMPANY TELLS YOU NOTHING BUT ###! THEY ARE A FRAUD, THEY HAVE HIDDEN FEES THAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU AT THE ORIENTATION, WHEN YOU TRY TO BOOK THAT'S WHEN THEY COME WITH THOSE HIDDEN FEES TO BREAK YOUR WALLET AND YOU NEVER FIND ANYTHING YOU'RE LOOKING FOR UNLESS YOU'RE A MILLIONAIRE, THEY WILL NOT GET ANOTHER CENT FROM ME AGAIN!
I'VE DONE BETTER AT THE ARMED FORCES VACATION CLUB.
DON'T EVEN INQUIRE ABOUT THESE CRIMINALS!
I am a previous employee of TAN is it actually is not a scam. Regarding the 'photo may not reveal actual picture of resort' it states "phot may not reveal actual picture of unit". Depending on which property you are referring to some resort TAN ownes anywhere from 10-70 at a particular resort. It is kinda hard for them to list photos of each individual unit on the website. You can book up to 1 year in advance however, some of the properties are seasonal and are not available year round so if you are trying to book a summer vacation during the month of December, they may not have the inventory loaded in there system as of yet. It's not that there is no availability. It is however a first come first serve basis. Tan is seperate from the sales centers and I do not agree with how the sales centers represent TAN because then it makes it look like TAN is a joke and are doing nothing but scamming people and they really are not. TAN is a great company and I would recommend anyone to join there program.
quality of accomodations
We purchased 30 vacations from TAN in2007 for 12, 000. Each vacation is for a one bedroom condo for 1 week in a variety of locations. Our sales pitch was given by a company inCincinnati named Smart Travel. We were told that the accomodations were 4 star properties and that they had " lots to choose from in the south Fla east coast area. ( these weeks cost $ 309 ea. in season plus we pay a 340. annual maintenance fee in Feb.) So far we have taken 7 trips and they have all been below expectations big time except for one location on Marco Island. We've suffered everything from a roof leak over our bed in the middle of the night to dirty rundown units, to huge cockroaches. This is not to mention that there is absolutely nothing in south east Fla. except a crappy looking place in Lake Worth far from the beach. We also have spoken to other suckers who have been disappointed and found that they got the same deal for 9, 000. I would love to get our money back and get out of this "club".
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I also was suckered into buying the 30 week plan. We were given an additional 3 weeks as an incentive. The cost to us was also 12, 000. I was sold the program by Sundance Vacations in the Milwaukee area. I was told all locations were at least a 4 star. The plan covered a 1 bedroom unit for a $99 booking fee. No additional charges unless it was in a preferred time slot. If all that was available was a 2 bedroom unit that would be at no extra charge. I have been very disappointed with the locations we went to. They have all cost additional money. The amount I had to pay extra was equal to what I could of booked independently elsewhere. The last place in Destin FL was in the middle of a parking lot area. The floor/carpeting was filthy there was garbage on the kitchen floor, and the tub looked like no one had cleaned it for a very long time. We had driven there from Milwaukee WI and couldn't stay there. From the Destin area we booked through another agency got a three bedroom, lofted unit on the water for less than what the up-charge for the other place was. When I called to complain and be reimbursed financially for the week I was offered another week with no refund on "extra charges". I am canceling my plan which I paid for in full to stop the "maintenance fees". VERY DISAPPOINTING!
Old furnisher, bugs Don't tell closest airportor how many beds not enought pots and pans.Talked to manager about bad phone wire and other things and nothing done.
