Tradewinds Vacations Class action lawsuit

Tradewinds Vacations, I can't decide if they are just a scamming company or they really are just run this terribly. I think it may be the first since so many people are also recently experiencing this.

We purchased a membership in October of 2011, in a location in the East Bay of Northern California. We were assured it would save us lots of money on vacations that would normally be out of our price ranged. We used the services three times, Once in 2011, and twice in 2012. Well, it saved nothing, and we were highly disappointed. In 2014, we decided we were done. We sent in one last payment and wrote with that payment to cancel our membership. We also had spoken with someone of the phone who assured us we were cancelled. Fast forward to either 2020 or 2021 (During pandemic) and we started getting phone calls saying we owed from 2015 on. We explained that we had cancelled and the gal on other end send she would look into it and hung up. Phone calls kept happening and we told our story to each and everyone that called. We ignored the mail as junk because we had cancelled and didn't want to deal with the company any more. We finally got "Juie" to acknowledge that yes, we stopped paying dues in 2014 and had not availed of the service since 2012 and were not active in their system, yet the phone calls persisted. This was really starting to take a toll on our mental health, as it was the pandemic, we hadn't seen our kids who were stuck in different states, and we knew that we had cancelled. The last phone call, we asked what it would take for them to stop calling us. They told us to pay them $596.00 and we would be done. It seemed more like extortion, but we see no choice as to just pay. We have always paid what we owe, so the fact that this was looming over us, and besides taking them to court, which would cost more, what choice did we have? We paid the money, but we have no idea if this will be the end of it all. I also wish that there could be a class action law suit against the horrible company. The worst part, since we cancelled in 2014, I had purged all the paperwork for it in 2019 (five year statute) so the only documentation I have is what they can us. Which is also basically nothing. We bought when we had young children, it was a bad purchase, but now we are older and cannot afford to just "settle", but had to take mental health into account

Desired outcome: I would love a class action lawsuit where we could possibly recoup some of the $596 (as well as certified postage cost of $13.95). But I would just be happy if the company was shut down so they couldn't do this to others.

Tradewinds Vacations Leave us alone. We refuse to be scammed nor pay any more to them.

In February of 2010 we attended a Tradewinds Vacation presentation. We never used it, we were never sent a bill for any kind of dues or fees. We spoke to one of their representatives explaining that my health problems were preventing me from traveling. We came to a mutual agreement that ended our membership in 2013. For the next seven years, 2014 thru 2020, we did not receive any billing for dues, nor any certified letters, nor any voicemails… not anything! And why was that? Because our unused membership had been terminated in 2013! On 12/19/2020 we received a letter from Tradewinds demanding $1620.00 for dues from 2014 through 2020. After seven years, Tradewinds Vacations started contacting us looking for revenue. With Covid-19 raging around the world, people weren’t traveling and so their income stream must have suffered dramatically. First, they wanted seven years of dues, and now they want to “work out a finalized agreement to either settle or close the account.” This is nothing but a scam, as the account was already closed; and under Arizona law, there is a statute of limitations of six (6) years for litigation concerning written contracts.

Tradewinds Vacations Trade winds vacation club

We attended a presentation back in 2011 or sometime back then. We were told in the presentation that we could get vacations very cheap. We signed up, but quickly found that it was hard to book and prices were not any cheaper that we could get on-line or through the resort.

I called to cancel less than a month after the presentation and went round and round with the person on the phone. We never used their vacation club and had not heard from them until I received a letter in the mail in 2022 saying that I had a significant outstanding balance and that they made numerous attempts to reach me. Not true! I called the number on the letter, telling the person that I had cancelled over a decade ago and cancelled. The person on the phone said I couldn't. I said I was calling my lawyer and she hung up.

I receive a threatening letter every 3 - 4 months in an envelope with the name Corporate Consulting Services, Inc. I just ignore them. These guys are a scam and fraudulent! Don't pay them anything.

Desired outcome: Someone help me to stop these guys. They are a scam!

Tradewinds Vacations Membership application

In April of 2010, my husband and I attended a Southwest travel center event in Tucson, AZ and met with a salesperson. Unfortunately, the company was a scam which we found out after paying almost $6,000 to them. They also closed the doors of the location where they were representing Travel Center after multiple people realized they were scammers. During the event, they had us sign multiple pages acknowledge membership for Tradewinds Vacations. It was shortly after attending the event that Southwest Travel closed their doors. Based on this situation, we assumed all transaction were gone, as we never received any membership information via a phone call, email or mail. Now in December 2022, we received a letter from Corporate Consulting Services, advising a Trade Winds Vacation Travel Club is in serious arrears. I spoke to a CS and she said the balance was over $2,000 but they would accept a payment of $199.99 to close the account. We have never used this membership and had no awareness that it was still active based on the scam.

Desired outcome: We want the contract cancelled and no fee responsibility.

Tradewinds Vacations Vacation travel services

Sometime in 2012, we joined trade winds vacation. when we joined, i specifically asked the sales person if this was like a time share in which getting out of this was nearly impossible. she said that No it was not, in fact, when we no longer wanted the membership to just stop paying. We decided after seeing that we could get a vacation cheaper thru other means, that we no longer wanted this service...even though we paid a lot of money up front. In the last 5 years, we have been getting calls about our membership. When i told the person we no longer wanted to be a member, she said that we could not stop our membership as per the contract. i ask for a copy of the contract and never received one until the other day, 9/6/2022. Also, we have received several calls from tradewinds and each time we have expressed vehemently that we did not want this membership and was told we could not get out of this membership. Also, pretty much each time we ask for a copy of the contract. On 9/6/2022 we received some kinda contract, but It is not a full contract. there are no signatures or initials on one page. We were offered a mutual settlement and release agreement if we paid 710.00. We are retired individuals and cannot even think about affording 710.

Desired outcome: I would like for tradewinds vacations to stop contacting us and what ever membership they think we have, to cancel it immediately.

Do you know the law firm that is filing a class action suit against Tradewinds for fraudulent service? They called me and I was not able to write at the time so can't remember their name. Coincidentally, I got an invoice in the mail two days after the call for 3 years of annual dues. Hadn't heard from them in years. Paid $6000 to get in back in the mid-'20s. Use them once for a room in Galveston. Bugs and nasty condo. We had to get our own room elsewhere. Other times could never get a room where we wanted to go.

My personal experience has been one of harassment and threats from Coconut Club Vacations. What I find very interesting is we joined "Ultimate Excursions", NOT Coconut Club. We were told they changed their name but I found out through BBB complaints, at least 18 clubs share the same email address; "info@yourtravelservices.org.". This also includes " Tradewind Vacations, Birmingham, AL" (#12 on BBB 2016 complaint). My interaction with Coconut Club is very well documented with all emails.
I attached email showing Mr. Lee (manager) at Coconut Club's response when I demanded they leave me alone. The language in his answer is quite clear. Membership is
"membership is either active-dues paid or inactive-dues unpaid. Just understand if you ever wanted to reactivate you have to pay the dues up to current. No issue here!"
I am awaiting response to my BBB complaint as of 03/09/2023.

Tradewinds Vacations Membership

Became member in 2012 & then cancelled in 2015 & stopped auto bill by credit card. Heard nothing from them for 6 years. Yesterday, 1-4-2022, received their letter (from account auditor) that we were in arrears & should call them. I called & asked for Joanne (Acct Auditor?) but receptionist Nicki said she doesn't take calls & transferred me to member rep. Cindy who later transferred me to Tom Lee, who said he was a 27 year employee. I was treated impolitely, rudely & given misinformation by everyone. No one would give me their contact information for their agent for process. They want a settlement of $199. (special rate for seniors who are retired) to give me a release document. I politely refused & asked for some details to confirm all relevant issues & Tom Lee hung up on me.

Desired outcome: Documented proof of cancelled membership & owing no money.

My husband contacted them May 2012 for planning a vacation - nothing happened and I contacted them via phone from my workplace...a gentleman said he cancelled it...10 years later we started being harrassed by them to pay all the back yearly fees! Today we received another letter from a collection agency and that the IRS would be notified also if we didn't pay all the back fees...the lady was totally rude and would not even listen to us and the fact that I had cancelled that. I do not have any backup of any sort since there was no email exchange when I cancelled on the phone and any final communication from that phone call has been trashed since our emails do get trashed after a period of time. One has to ask...why did it take them 10 years to contact us. I, at one time, had discovered that Travel Services (the company we had dealt with) was now Tradewinds(?)...None of this makes sense to us and quite frankly we are tired of being harrassed by them. We are law-abiding senior citizens and if we owed money to someone, we'd be honest and pay up. The Alexanders, Montgomery, Texas

I didn't hear from these people for two years. No services rendered and they wanted me to pay back membership dues. They scammed me for enough money on the initial signup and offered no value. They continue to try to extort money from me, and offered a one time special fee to release me from the membership. He said they would extend the deal to me as I am a Veteran. I am not giving them another dime. They fooled me once, and that's enough.

Tradewinds Vacations Fraudulent travel membership

Same as the other complaints. Purchased membership in 2012 then canceled a few years later. Never received any bills for late fees until last week for almost $1000. My husband called to get an explanation and Miranda from member services was very rude and hung up on him not once but twice! Poor customer service if they were seriously trying to collect money. We're not paying another cent to them and their scam. No one else needs to either. Let's file a class action lawsuit to stop this. I even saw them on the news before too. This was after we had already purchased it.

Desired outcome: Permanent cancelation of membership

Tradewinds Vacations Travel Membership

This company has been a pain to work with from day one, I should have known better. They (Trade Winds Vacations - or whatever they call themselves) NEVER booked a successful trip for me, horrible to work with, tried cancelling for multiple years, no luck, no professionalism in their company. All the reviews I have read I agree with. They just have a different rep harass you and claim they have never heard from you on the subject before. When they finally sent me their "official cancellation form" after I showed them proof that I attempted to cancel years before, they still want me to pay $$. Thank You!

Desired outcome: Have them cancel my account and refund any back monies available, and cancel all current charges built up and not paid.

Tradewinds Vacations Travel service

I signed up for a service many years ago, I want to say in 2006, which I was never able to benefit from. In 2016, I decided to cancel since we would not be using the services.
Thus, I called to Cancel and I was told by Sam R that I did not have to cancel and that if you did not pay you would not be able to use the services. I had no intention in using the services so I did not think that was an issue. Now 5 years latter, after not hearing from them, they send me a bill for $1, 100. I do not want this services and they are saying it cannot be cancelled. I do not want to pay them for a service I have not been using nor I would have been able too since I was not paying.
I called again last night 3/22/2021 and they said if I pay $725 they will agree to a mutual consent release.
Not only I had to pay an upfront fee to join and yearly membership for something that has never benefitted me, now they even want more money? I really feel that they are taking advantage of me. Can you please help me get out of it?
I do not want to pay another dime to them if possible.

Thank you

Tradewinds Vacations Vacation club

About 2013 my husband and I foolishly signed up for the Trade Winds Vacations paying about $2000. We were promised a free vacation which did not turn out to be true. We found that we could book our own trips for less than their service. I called to cancel our membership after less than a year.
Now I am receiving "Final Notice" bills for $1900 to pay for the years [protected] dues. This is a scam. How can you help me? We never used their service.

Desired outcome: Stop the "Final Notice" bills!

Tradewinds Vacations Fraudulent travel club membership

We got a final notice from Tradewinds Vacations stating that we were overdue from 2012 to 2020 in the amount of $2, 194. I thought this was a joke. But as a courtesy, I called the company asking what this is all about after 10 years later. Responds from the company representative Avi was like talking to the wall and broken tape recorder, telling me the same line over and over. We try to explain that we cancelled the membership back in 2012. She doesn't want to hear it and states it's a lifetime membership!? Did I hear this right?

Anyway, going back the history of our membership, we joined this company in Florida from independent distributor called Jandar Corporation (we were told this from Avi thru exchanged e-mail from Tradewinds Vacations, they are gone, can't find them in anywhere, It's been 10 years, can't recall all details). When we joined since 2011 paid initial huge upfront money and the fees for the year 2011, hoping we can use their vacation services. After receiving a package, reviewed it and try to use their service as much as possible. But, the turnaround time for the request was always coupled of days with no deals in comparison. Simply, no benefit of using the service they offer. So, the next year 2012, we cancelled our membership and signed some kind of paperwork putting our membership in inactive until we reactivate. No payment was due, no obligations further. After that, that was the end. We were done dealing with them since there was no future engagement from the company. In 5/02/2019, we received a surprise overdue invoice stating that they miss us and want us back in the membership and offered 1 to 5 year plan with discounts. Didn't bother, put it away. Mid-February 2021, just a few days ago, another surprise invoice came in asking to pay for the last 10 years of fees this time. Where they have been in the last ten years not invoicing fees if they were legitimate to collect the fees? This is a big fraudulent travel club membership company. I got no where by exchanging a few e-mails back and force with Avi. She is demanding for the full payment if we want to cancel the membership. I told her this is my last courtesy attempt and do not contact us again what so ever. This is a big fraudulent travel club membership company. I got no where by exchanging a few e-mails back and force with Avi. She is demanding for the full payment if we want to cancel the membership. I told her this is my last courtesy attempt and do not contact us again what so ever. We were scammed by this company! I have no plan to pay them any penny and you do the same. Do not pay! A class action lawsuit against them is what we need to do with a group of people who is scammed.

I brought into this also. never received a thing. And now they want more money to cancel me. I think this is a Ponzi scam. If you pay money for something you should get something in return. I tried to cancel after 3 days and they said I could not. I think something should be done about them. I am 82 and living on SS. I could not afford to take a trip if i wanted to . It sounded good at the time.

Same thing for my husband and I. We joined in2012 and then canceled a few years later. Last week received a bill for late fees. Miranda was very rude and hung up on my husband twice when he called for an explanation. She said we had to pay the late fees in order to cancel. This is definitely a FRAUDULENT COMPANY. We're not paying any more money to them. We payed enough to join it. We haven't received any annual bills either like contract states 30 days prior to anniversary date. We had a lawyer write them a cease and desist letter, then they sent us a note dismissing all charges and released us from our contract. They have no legal grounds to collect past due membership fees. Once you stop payment, your membership was suspended. You have no obligation to reinstate your membership. This is a total scam. Tradewinds is no longer in operation. These individuals have the Tradewinds records and are using them to extort money.

We lost over $5, 000, and they promised they would sell our Hyatt Timeshare, that was a lie! Now they contact me 9 years later and want money!

Tradewinds Vacations Travel Membership scam

I got a telemarketing call to come in to attend a 90-min. presentation with my spouse at Simplicity Travel, 4835 N. O'Connor Rd #200, Irving, Texas. I was promised 2 free airline tickets and a $20 red lobster gift card. (I was more interested in the gift card because I'm familiar with all the fine print with the airline ticket promo.) I was asked to flash a credit card logo when I got there. It was just like the telemarketer said: I was under no obligation to purchase - which was true. What I was not expecting was such a professional and tempting presentation.

We started asking questions when we got there. The receptionist said she was new and just started the week prior. The first agent said that the company was in that business location since Jan 2012., the presentation was more tempting than I expected. It was very professional and well put together, and the agents there aren't new to this and very believable. The presentation include top vacation spots and cruises with unbelievable “member” prices. The membership cost for all these perks were set at a one time payment of $8995 for a lifetime willable membership. After thinking about all the places we could go as a family and take our kids my hubby and I were really excited, however, we have one rule: NEVER make big purchases the same day, without sleeping on the decision overnight.

After the presentation, we were told the 1st 2 ppl would receive a $1k discount. After the agent talked with us one-on-one and we explained our financial situation, he out of the air came up with a "Plan 2" that was not mentioned in the group presentation on how we could get the same package for $5K by put $2500 down tonight and then we would be billed the remaining half at a 0% interest. He confirmed that we could start vacationing RIGHT away without paying the full $5k. WOW. Then when we said we're going to sleep on it. Then the agent came back and said he talked with the owner and the owner wants him to "help those folks out!" Can you say "Favor"? Next we were given a deal could pay $700 tonight and receive a 5-Year trial with full benefits. Hubby and I really had to think about this, we asked for private time to talk it over and starting searching the internet. Then we thought if this deal dropped for $9k to 700, if it's that desperate then what's good today has to be good tomorrow, next week, etc. We left that office with our free gifts and we thought about all those wonderful vacations and how we could benefit by being a member.

After we left we had time to think and reflect on the meeting. The receptionist was there said she started last week and did not know much about the company. (I found the recent craigslist ad online). The first agent at the beginning of mtg said that SIMPLICITY TRAVEL operated out of the 4835 N. O'Connor Rd #200 office in Irving, TX since the 1st of the year. The 2nd agent at the end of mtg said they were there 11 years! I searched dallascad.org Property records and there business name was not listed. I also searched on that address and found that in 2009 that suite was a massage parlor and since then it's been a real estate agent.
I also came across reservations4u.com site, that looked very unprofessional as if an individual designed it using a free web tool. Not what you would expect from a company that's been in business 11-30 years. I also did a whois.net directory lookup on the domain simplicitytravels.net and saw that it was recently purchased and only for a one year duration. The site minimal information, a paragraph on the "About Us" and appears to be created with a opensource free web script.

I noticed none of their professional brochures are branded as “Simplicity Travel”. It is a common name used by business owners all over the nation. So you may search and find good reviews for that business name, but dig deeper and you’ll see it’s in a different state. I was only to find info on “Simplicity Travels” in Irving/Dallas business within the duration of the last 60 days. Brochures are branded with other business names such as branded as "Smart Travel" and "Tradewinds Vacations." Searching on Tradewinds Vacations also brings up multiple companies owned by different people across the nation, making it harder to verify validity. BE WARE. It is always better to do businesses that you can verify their reputation online. Also if it’s such a good deal you shouldn’t be pressure to pay your one time fee before you leave the office.

My spouse was called announcing she had won after entering for a free cruise and airfare, I just knew it was a scam and told her to ignore it. Two days later I got a call on my work cell phone saying the same thing. I found it hard to believe they had both of our cell phone numbers by accident and really believed what I heard. So we went to the hotel presentation (which they shamelessly claim you WILL leave with FREE cruise tickets and free airfare for just listening to advertisements in hopes that you will be a repeat customer) we sat and filled out a survey after flashing some ID and credit card (again shamelessly claiming no scam by stating over and over how they are not taking any of your credit card info, all the while secretly screening the crowd to make sure we all DO have credit cards they can try to leech onto.) only to have some s***-eating-grin typical salesman fool who apparently has no idea what he is a part of come sit down and tell us there must have been some mistake someone should have told us about the requirements; on the survey we checked the box that said we make a combined income of 40, 000 - 50, 000 a year and those who are eligible to view the presentation must make at least 60, 000, but if the address we had given was correct they would mail us a lesser free gift for viewing the presentation anyway. I asked "So long story short, no free vacation?", "Yes, " he said.. so out the door we went and came right to this website after feeling really stupid. After reading these posts it Looks like we really dodged a bullet, but I tell you this was really rough on us; this was a time that we really could have used something like this and to be led out to the middle of the city on a friday night was not easy AND on a GUARANTEE that we would leave with a free cruise only to be embarrased in front of your spouse by being told you dont earn enough to recieve the free gift you were assured you had "won". I am very serious about joining a class action lawsuit if you post kore info! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

We just attended the sales pitch tonite. same address as the place listed on O'conner in Irving.

I was impressed by how well it was put together. they say that they pay their sales reps a salary. We had a nice man sit down at our table and 'warm us up'. while we were waiting, since almost everyone else was buying, I started to ask the guy some ?'s... one ? was "do you get paid a fair salary". He said, "no we are straight commission"

Straight commission is fine just be honest about it. I will never do business with the company nor do I recommend anyone else to do business with them.

Anybody know how to stop the payment to Tradewinds Vacations / Simplicity Travel? We paid by credit card last night. Credit card service said it was approved, but I can't dispute until it's posted. Has anyone else tried to dispute? Result?

Tradewinds Vacations Fraudulent travel club membership

Vacation club benefits are basically worthless -I got scammed in Las Vegas through STS travel - Sea to Ski of Colorado - which are front companies -basically LLC's that change their names. constantly. Tradewinds Vacations is in Alabama -STS is in Colorado but they do their presentations in Las Vegas. Promises of refund are bogus and they never return your calls -sales agreement forms has 28 items that have to be initialed and basically lock you in so credit card companies will not help you in a dispute.STS travel -Sea to Ski of Colorado - the owners name is Stephen Wunder.

They have been harassing us for approximately 3-4 years now with dues that we owe. We just ignore the mailings. I called the post office where their mailing address is, and long story short, they are pretty much fraudulent. Don't pay them a cent. They have sent us the contract from over 12 years ago that we cancelled 10 years ago. Itemized all of the payments that have accrued over the last decade. We have not heard from them in 10 years and all of a sudden we received a large bill stating we owe them all of this money. I call BS. They continue to say they will send their attorney after us. I say go ahead! Take us to court! Let's see how that will turn out for ya!

Many of us must have been at the same place in Las Vegas in 2011. I also thought my membership was cancelled after my husband passed 5 months later. I heard from them out of the blue a week ago. I’m willing to do something with others. I don’t know what to do, that is a long time past. Please advise.

I am experiencing the same problem as those listed above. We went to a presentation in Las Vegas in 2011. Their "pitch" was that by joining we would save thousands on future vacations. We found after joining and paying $1500 that we could get the same prices on our own. I called to cancel and had problems with the sales company. I told them I didn't want to use their club, and wanted a refund. I didn't get any money back, but I assumed our membership was canceled. I never used their service and didn't think about again until yesterday, when I got an "audit" letter saying we owned due for the past 11 years! I called them to say we didn't owe anything since we canceled our membership. they said we didn't cancel and we signed a contract and owed the money. I said we weren't going to pay, and the person hung up on me. She is supposed to send me a copy of the signed contract so they can prove we owe the money. This is just another scam designed to take advantage of people especially seniors.

Back in 2012 my late husband and I joined this "travel club, " but soon found out the website was so bad, it looked like a 3rd grader made it, and we could get better deals by going online ourselves. We never used the service, and had not thought of them in years! Then early this year I received a letter of "overdue final notice" of dues owed from [protected] in the amount of $1, 620! We have NEVER heard from them and NEVER received a bill in the mail, by email, or by phone. I called and told them I never used the service, and most importantly, I have NEVER received a bill from them. She lied and said they had sent bills. Then she added on more for the membership of 2021 from February, and told me I couldn't cancel the membership until I paid the amount owed.

I started researching them online and found MANY, MANY people who had the very same experience - never heard from them in years, and got a final overdue notice. One person commented that the company is run by Christy Spensberger, William Bailey, and Adrian Miller who all have fraud judgments against them for running fake travel clubs.

I have filed complaints to the Federal Trade Commission (https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/) my state Attorney General, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (uspis.gov) Do not pay this company anything. They are frauds. If everyone will file online complaints, we'll get this stopped. It doesn't take long to file these complaints online - just fill out the forms and copy and paste your written experience with them.

I have a memebership application that the top portion was completed by someone other than myself. (Tradewinds sent me this form. They used pages from the original membership application, but completed a different 1st page). There is no financial institution or credit card info on the 1st page. We contacted one of the sales persons at the presentation meeting within 48 hours. He did not run the credit card info, so we did not have a contract with Tradewinds. Just this week, we received a letter stating that attempts had been made to collect our yearly dues. We did recieve mail for approximately 3 years and I responded stating I did not complete the contract because no funds were transferred from me to their company.

I am sending a

"Cease and desist" letter. If anyone wants to comment, please do. I assume the letter needs to be certified.

Hello all,
I have the same experience and have an ongoing email thread back to the company. The agent said I should read my contract, so I did. Their contract clearly states that "I understand that I will be sent a notice at least 30 days prior to the payment date...". I was never sent a notice of a bill or payment, therefore the past dues claim is void. Don't pay them anything. Their service was terrible, I never received a rebate, and I could get better deals by NOT using them. They should be happy with the membership fee originally paid as well as the couple of dues I actually paid.

Same story, different day... I received a letter from them wanting to charge me for 8 years of membership dues even though this is the first time I have heard from them since 2011. I'm going to follow up on my records which should have the cancellation information I need as we cancelled the next day. I also plan to file a complaint with (uspis.gov) and (ReportFraud.ftc.gov). wish me luck.

Regretful vacationer
I was happy to find others who are having similar problems after joining Tradewinds Vacations. We joined in 2011 and after paying a lot of “membership” fees and experiencing similar bad service, unresponsive communication, and travel costs that were not even competitive, we wanted out. We were told that if we don’t pay our annual dues we couldn’t use their service. Fine! We recently received a “Final Notice” from Travel Center AKA Travel Services Inc. in Litchfield IL for overdue fees after 7 years of not hearing from them. We don’t want to pay them one more dime. So, I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission’s website ReportFraud.ftc.gov
I encourage any of you who are being harassed by this company to do the same. My hope is that if enough complaints are received, an investigation might be initiated. If enough consumers are on record regarding this scam, maybe a class action lawsuit could be the result. I don’t know, but I would love to have the people behind this held accountable, even if we don’t get our money back.

This is a fraud scheme operated by professional fraudsters. This is run by Christy Spensberger, William Bailey, and Adrian Miller who all have fraud judgments against them for running fake travel clubs. Now that the travel club well has dried up in COVID they are attempting to go after people they had previously scammed nearly a decade ago. DO NOT pay them anything.

While reporting to FTC is good, you should also report them to the US Postal Inspection Service at uspis.gov as they handle all mail fraud CRIMINAL cases. The more complaints they get, the better likelihood someone will file charges against them. Search their names and see the fraud judgments they have against them.

Long story short, absolutely DO NOT pay a dime to these disgusting thieves. After receiving an email from Travel Services today regarding a past due balance, I called and it very quickly escalated to blatant lies about them attempting to contact me for 7 years followed by threats to send my "outstanding membership dues from [protected], amounting to $1, 620 to collections. I assured him that we cancelled nearly 7 years ago, but I was told that unless I could provide "proof of cancellation documentation", then I needed to pay immediately.
I was 100% sure that I had resolved it, so I scoured my yahoo email and finally came across an email trail between me and a TradeWinds representative from September 2014. Here is the email from her specifically stating that there was no official cancellation document. They are now obviously using this as a fake loophole to scare people since A.) not many would have records dating so far back and B.) a cancellation document or process never existed or was necessary in the first place.
If this information can help to stop these scammers, please let me know who I need to reach out to and what I need to do with the original email trail. See below...
Thanks,

Hello, I too, had the same exact scenario happen to me. We were told the same if we don’t pay our annual dues we couldn’t use their service. I was ok with that as I wanted to cancel but they told me I did not have too. Now I am getting a bill with 5 years of dues? Do I have to pay? Can they come after me legally if I don't? Can I get bad credit? Or is my only option to pay them? They do not have my credit card.

I received a bill for dues from [protected], even though I never used the company and NEVER received a bill in all those years. Thanks for your information. I wrote the Better Business Bureau, but they just contacted the company, who gave them all lies about the membership dues owed. I have now filed online complaints with the FTC and my state Attorney General. I will also file with the US Postal Inspection Service.

@Neil P Collins Don't know if you've resolved your situation, but we had a similar undated "FINAL NOTICE" arrive near the end of March (2021) referencing "outstanding dues" dating back to 2012 for a total of $2194 and threatening "further escalation", saying if there was a response they would provide
a copy of your contract paperwork that you signed." We knew it was a scam for several reasons.

1) It was addressed only to my husband. My name was nowhere to be found. We have different surnames, which told us TW didn't know we were a couple. Any such long-term contracts are always signed by us both.
2) It addressed my husband only by first & last name. He always signs legal documents using his middle initial.
3) There have been no calls from them (we have voicemail, so would know if we missed a call), nor have there been any emails. Or any other snail mail communications.

We reported them to the FTC, the US Postal Inspection Service, and to our state Attorney General. Then my husband wrote to them (cc-ing our state Atty General) telling them he knew this was an attempt to scam him, that he had never signed a contract with them, and that we had reported them to the proper authorities. We sent that off certified mail, return receipt requested.

They signed for the letter April 12. Yesterday a letter arrived dated April 13 from 'Tom Lee' of the 'Member Resolutions Department'. It said: "Thank you for the additional information regarding your membership listed above. As a good faith gesture after receiving this new information we are cancelling all debt, past, the present and future, that we show is owed by the above consumer and will show that their membership is cancelled."

Translation? We called their bluff, and they backed down. Suggest you do the same - good luck!
