Tire Rack Tires

I was quite surprised that the salespeople at Tire Rac were trying to pass off tires that had a manufacturers date that was almost 2 years old as ‘new’.

ALWAYS check the manufacturers date on a tire to understand when it was made. Tires (whether being used or not, regardless of how they’re stored) degrade over time and slowly lose their effectiveness of gripping in dry/wet weather.

Two-year-old rubber while still fine, should not be considered ‘new’. (you’ve essentially lost 2 years of use life at that point).

The sales practice of ‘preying’ on unsuspecting consumers is not what I’d have expected from them. I wonder how long they’ll continue to pass off that old inventory to unsuspecting consumers.

Pretty pathetic.

Tire Rack Tires and wheels

Don't waste your time with TIRE RACK and Discount Tire in my opinion are borderline SCAM artists, Hundreds of complaints on Better Business Bureau, Save yourself the headache and buy local, they will most likely price match.

Ordered wheels and tires received call from rep with suggestion for change, made the change and the wheels did not fit.

Got a Return Authorization RA # W903678 Tire Rack Rep Adam Troup sent me shipping materials and shipping labels, packed the two I opened as they requested, and shipped back.

Adam Troup emailed me stating items were damaged in shipping and I would not get refunded. I took photos of the items before I packed them and when I dropped off at FedEx to document the return process. I sent this evidence to him and asked him to do the right thing and get this fixed.

I used their shipping label, their packing materials, if damaged in shipping as they told me in email, they should make claim to shipper. I tried to work with them, I will contact my credit card company and dispute the charge.

Desired outcome: refund my purchase and forget my email address

Tire Rack Tire Service

Let me start by saying I USED TO BE ONE OF TIRE RACKS BIGGEST PROMOTERS until recently! I have purchased many sets of tires from them for my cars, my wife's car, my mothers car and even recommended them around the Hospital I work at, but that had changed. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM TIRE RACK OR USE ANY OF THIER RECOMMEDED INSTALLERS! I purchased a set of Potenza tires for my Roush Stage 3 Mustang with 4700 miles on it, the first problem came from ASAP tire that Tire Rack owns, they came to my home, installed one of the four tires and the tech said he wasn't doing any more, because his knees "could not take it"! Then Tire rack "recommended" a shop named Performance Alignment, which turned out to be the biggest headache of my life! They "curb-rashed" my wheels on their machine and then the owner and manager tried to blame it on my old tires, then said "this is expected"? What? I called Tire Rack (Albert Kodba), who initially was cordial, but after the shop damaged my wheels didn't want to hear anything about it! NO MORE TIRE RACK EVER, Shame on you for treating your customers this way Albert!

I used to really like Tire Rack until my latest attempt to make a claim on their "road hazard" insurance. Unfortunately, I hit a small curb that took out both right-side tires, I submitted a claim via the internet (a very confusing site) for the rear which was approved. After seeing what happened with the claim, I submitted a claim for the front tire which was denied. I still don't understand what kind of pre-approval I missed, I did the same thing for both tires!

Tire Rack Tires

In January of this year I returned a set of 4 Sumitomo tires to tire rack - each and every one had suffered shifting of the underlying cables within the tire - making them unsafe to drive . These tires were inspected and replaced at a local tire dealership of another brand . Tire rack held the tires - until they got "a full trailer load " and the tires were not returned to the manufacturer for some time . Previously they said " the tires came back at 5/32 nd which does not qualify for any warranty . the tires needed to be at 4/32 or below ... this makes no sense at all !
Additionally I was warned that " You would not have a response until like March or April ..." Well it is now August 2 nd - I still have no response from tire rack nor Sumitomo . Tire warranty -- What tire warranty ? What utter nonsense .. BUYER BEWARE Tire rack order # BG30598 Return # W763730

Tire Rack Tires wrong size

Tire Rack didn't have my needed tire size so they recommended a larger size which of course I purchased. After I installed the tires they rub my wheel well. I contacted Tire Rack but they refuse to correct their mistake and, further, their CSR "Lynne" will not respond to my email inquiries. It has been a few weeks and still no resolution. I am a 10-year customer. Disgraceful service! Shame on you Tire Rack.

Desired outcome: Replace the wrong size with the correct size

Tire Rack Wrong tires

Hello. I had a terrible experience with this company Tire Rack. I found their website and they seemed trustworthy enough, so I made an order. I paid for the product, shipping fee and the same day received all the confirmations.
When my order finally arrived I was shocked to find out they sent me wrong tires. I called Tire Rack customer service and asked for a replacement. Later I got the correct tires, but return process was a real nightmare! I had to pay for the return shipping and then they told that I also have to pay for them to send me a replacement tires! Wasted so much money on that! Will never buy anything from them again!

Tire Rack Beware when you buy tires from them

I purchased 4 tires from tire rack. They were Kuhmo tires that were advertised to be 85000 mile tires. I got less than 15000 miles and they wouldn’t pass inspection. All 4 tires were evenly worn. Replacement tire were bought and the alignment was checked and it was still within manufacturing specifications.

Tire rack/ Kuhmo wanted me to ship the tires back to them at my expense for their engineers to inspect. Be aware that when you buy tires from an online retailer, all warranties are with tire rack at your expense as opposed to aa local retailer where you could have bought them.

I bought 4 GoodYear tires four weeks ago. I have recently discovered a bulge in my front right tire. I went to the GoodYear local shop and they confirmed that it was a manufacturer's defect, coded as "product adjustment B". I have ignored the reviews that mentioned to have received tires that have been sitting in their warehouse for over two years, and since it was a cheaper deal I went ahead and placed my order of 4 GoodYear Eagle Sport AS. THey arrived promptly within the next couple of days, got them mounted and still was saving myself a few bucks.
Once I had to take care of the defect, is when they were not a better deal than purchased at my local shop.
Although I have purchased Road hazard warranty and they stated in the warranty that they will offer 100% replacement including mounting. THey asked me to take them out and ship ot to them through UPS, but I have to pay the freight back.
. I had to pay for the mounting and balancing twice for that tire because of the manufacturers defect that they would not feel responsible from. At the end of the day, it was a difficult process and they did not feel responsible for the quality of their service nor product. Nex time, I will spread the money in my own town, so in the case of a problem, I can deal with a real person. I hope my story helps to illustrate a not too perfect scenario.

This is a copy of the email I got from the customer representative:
Good Morning,
Thank you for your call today. I am sorry to hear you have a problem with one of your new tires. The process to get this tire taken care of for a manufacturers defect will be to purchase a new tire and take the bad tire home. We will then send UPS out to your home to get that picked up once we have the tire back and inspect it we can issue a credit back to your credit card. The mount and balance is not covered but Tire Rack will cover the freight for the return of the defective tire. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I have bought at least 5 sets of tires from Tire Rack over the last 6 years and didn't have a problem until the last 3 sets over the last year and a half. No problems with shipping to me. The first problem was with a winter tire package for a 2010 Navigator L. One wheel had a tire pressure sensor monitor that snapped off the band and was ruined in the tire. It took 2 replacements to get one that worked. All this required repeated visits to the local tire shop to dismount and remount after replacing the sensor. Now I bought winter tire and wheel set for 2011 Audi A8L. The fitment was incorrect and bound the rim to the brake caliper making the car immovable. The car now has a shimmy and Audi will have to repair. The customer service person indicated they hadn't had this problem before, only an issue with lug bolts that were too long. She was extremely rude when i wasn't interested in doing the work of packaging up these tires. Including the hauling them back to my house for UPS pickup. If its my mistake, its my dime. if its Tire Racks mistake, its their dime. I have since found out that another set of Blizzak tires for a 2003 Suburban were 3 years old when I received them last year. They work fine, but any tire professional will tell you that the life and safety of the tire is not only based on the remaining tread, but the age of the tire is critical to its safety. So if these Blizzaks only last me three seasons, I guess I'll be OK. I've bought my last tires from Tire Rack.

Tire Rack Won't stand behind their tires

I bought a set of four Blizzak tires from Tire Rack. The tires are totally ineffective in the snow. They slide and slip and don't provide as much traction as my regular all season tires. I had Bizzack WS60's last year and they were just fine. It is my understanding that Bridgestone reconfigured the W60S's and came out with WS70's. I wish I had left my all season tires on because the WS70's are a disaster. What is even worse is that fact that Tire Rack won't help me with the purchase. They just say there is nothing they can do which is hard to understand because they say they are revolutionizing tire buying. What a joke! Any retail dealer would take the tires back and put on another set. Tire Rack avoids my calls and in some cases won't even return my calls. My guess it that Tire rack is just a shill for Bridgestone because I wrote a negative review of the tires and they won't even put it on their website. Very disappointing behavior for a merchant.

Tire Rack Sold Different Product than advertised.

I researched Short Ram Intakes for months, knew exactly what I was looking for, just waited to find a good deal. I found one on their website on clearance, color (blue), fit, everything was perfect... or so I thought. I ordered it (at still a high price). Once it arrived, upon opening it, I found that it was just an air filter and bracket... What was shown in the picture and discription was a complete intake with the tubing, bracket, and filter. When I called, I talked to "Ben" who said that's all it was supposed to be, a filter... I told him to look at the description on their website and tell me where it said it was just a Filter and Bracket ONLY. He couldn't find it. I then advised him it also said all they had in stock was this product in blue... there was NOTHING blue in this box. I informed him of this, to his confusion he came up with a profoundly stupid answer. I called him out on it, and told him they need to correct this and send me the proper product to which he simply replied that was the product - with no proof to back him up. I told him he lost a good customer, he said OK. I know this seems petty, but the fact is they outright lied and when called on it, did nothing and worse, they didn't care. I have strong principles and will NEVER do business with this company again.

Tire Rack Bait and switch fraud

Ordered (4)205/503ZR16 KU ECSSTA ASX tires. Tire Rack sent me (4)205/503R16 tires. Since these were not the tires I ordered, I refused the delivery from UPS and they were returned. Tire Rack is now trying to credit only $212.42 out of the $307.58 order. This was not my error, it was theirs. If there have been changes in the codes, my order form should have reflected that (which it does not.) The tires do NOT match what is on my car. I've called several times trying to explain this to them, and request my refund. They have refused to refund my money to date. We are even previous customers of theirs, but that doesn't seem to matter. I would suggest avoiding this company all together, not only do they ship the WRONG tires, they are making money off their customers that are returning incorrect merchandise!

Oh yeah, and when I told them I'd dispute the charge with my credit card company, I got accused of "threatening" them and told I was put on a "report". I percieve this as a threatening tone by TireRack...
