I bought not just one but two pairs of timberland pro work boots. They were not cheap (~$110 a pair) and were oil resistant, slip resistant, electrical shock resistant with steel toes. The soles disintegrated and cracked in multiple place all the way through. The upper leather and leather lace eyes were fine, but the soles were dangerous. I used them for construction work, hiking and walking around town and they should not have disintegrated and cracked. The rubber in the soles is clearly inferior. Too bad they don't make the shoes in the usa anymore. Twice burned. . . I hope my new red wings last longer.

Been wearing Timberlands since the 1990s never had problems. 2023 and my fresh black timberland pro boots sole just disintegrated. You can’t tell me this is normal. They were a gift so no receipt and don’t have the box. I will NEVER buy another pair of Timberlands again.

These are Timberland shoes. I was wearing and kept feeling my shoes sticking to floor and leaving black residue. So I took them off to wipe them off and noticed the split sole, Sole is not even worn yet they split. What kind of material are you using? The leather upper is in great condition… not sure what material you are using on your shoe sole. Terribly disappointed

I have a pair of timberland boots T171038, never wore them, still in the box, the soles have turned into a gummy substance & falling away from the boot. I can't believe timberline would except this grade quality in USA & Canada. If these where made china, shame on them, they deserve the poor quality reputation that they have! Thank You. My timberlands sole fully cracked straight through, I paid $110.00 for maybe 8 months worth of service, so not worth the money. Red wings sry for straying.

I bought some timberland earth keepers suede boots and they look great that is until it rains
I had them for a while but one night while walking in London it started to rain and that's when my problem started
The boots were lethal while walking I slipped and fell over and had to make my way home clinging onto what ever I could find avoiding the wet pavements even the camber of the road was to much to stay upright.
I can't believe a company could make a boot so bad.
Has anybody else had this problem ?

I bought my first pair of Timberland Pro Haystacks in 2009. Like many say, they were the most comfortable boot I ever owned from the get go. Not only that, but they lasted me nearly 5 years. I was so impressed by the comfort and quality of that first pair that when they finally gave in I bought 2 of the same style. One for work, and one for everything else. In 2009 I think I paid $110.00. When I bought the 2nd and 3rd pair in 2014 the price had risen to $150 a pair. That was quite a price hike for only 5 years, but what the heck, they are worth it right? Fast forward 4 months and the sole is coming apart at the seem where it is glued to the cushioned part of the sole. I contact Timberland and they have me send them the boots so they can inspect them and see if they are defective. They will let me know their decision in a few weeks. No problem, I'll just wear the 2nd pair I bought for casual things to work from now on. 2 months later the same thing happens to the second pair. Meanwhile Timberland informed me that yes, they were defective but that style has been discontinued. I was able to get a pair of hiking boots for around the same price. I waiting for those to arrive before contacting Timberland about the second defective pair of boots. When the hiking boots arrived I immediately tried them on and found they aren't comfortable at all. They force you to walk on your in-step rather than flat footed. If I wasn't tired of the headache of having to deal with the whole return process I would send both pairs of these boots back. I know I would only receive the same garbage so why waste my time and money sending them to a company that sold it's sole to China? I'm not sure when they made that move to China but I'm guessing it was after 2009 when I got the pair of boots that lasted 5 years.

Their ad says that they sell original Timberland boots, but the timbs I received were fake. They were delivered from China and I tried to get a refund, but I can't because address is not specified. They don't have email address or phone as well.

I bought a 3in1 coat online for my husband on Aug 26th as a gift for the following month and paid $150.95 due to a sale/discount and free shipping over $100 items (Timberland usually runs this promotion). Well, when I gave the coat to my husband the next month and he tried it on, the coat felt a bit tight. It is the size he always wears with Timberland coats. He even had someone who wears the same size try it on and he said it felt tight. My husband felt there was a defect in either the lining size of the coat or the coat itself, maybe it was marked or manufactured wrong, etc.

My husband called on Oct 5 and spoke to a rep. He doesn't recall her name but we later copied our phone record to prove to Timberland that the call was made. It was 18 mins on 10/5 at 11:09 a.m. Timberland never followed up to see who the rep was that gave us the wrong info. My husband explained the problem with the coat on Oct 5th and the rep told my husband that the way to do it was for him to return the coat and that he would have to reorder the coat. She said he would receive the credit for the original coat ($150.95). But when she mentioned reordering another coat, I asked my husband to ask if they are going to give us the coat for the same price I originally paid. The rep was the one putting the order in for us and told us yes because we are getting the same coat but that it would initially charge $215.78 because the original sale price is no longer available but that she would put in the credit for the difference when they received the other coat and that it would take a couple of weeks to process.

This is where the problem lies because Timberland’s continued response is “I am sorry for the inconvenience but we can’t match the original price because it is past 30 days.” Timberland failed to answer some of my emails and I had to continue to call to try to resolve this. I tried explaining that what sense does it make that we would buy a coat, on Aug 26th, paying $150.95, make a phone call to Timberland on 10/5 for 18 mins and on the same day, reorder the same coat, size size but pay $215.78. We shipped the original coat back on the same day we reordered the same coat, same size. This occurred because that is what their rep told us to do. Do you think with today’s economy that we are going to pay $150.95 for a coat and repurchase the same coat, same size 5 to 6 weeks later but pay $65 more. Looking at the second order I noticed that when the rep put the order in she even charged $13.95 for shipping. It doesn’t make sense.

After the lack of an effort from Timberland to resolve this issue, I printed the label to return the 2nd coat because I refuse to pay more for this coat due to Timberland’s screw up and I see that Timberland has a 60 day policy for items that have a defect in manufacturing. So I become even more upset to know that the original rep should NOT have told us to reorder the same coat, same size but should have told us to return the coat, they would inspect it and then send us another one. So we got two wrong instructions from the rep and Timberland will not answer to them. I wrote another email stating that this situation was not under the 30 day policy but should have been handled as a defect but Timberland never answered, as of today. They don’t care. Let me clear up, that it was a defect in manufacturing on the first coat because the second coat we received fits fine. I am livid at how Timberland has ignored common sense in the way these transactions were made and didn’t stand by doing the right thing. I can understand if I purchased two different coats because that would make it appear as if we were trying to get another coat for the same sale price but this is the same coat, same size! I will never buy from Timberland again not only for the rep misleading us with wrong information but mostly because Timberland did not really take the time to go through the facts and instead when they replied would only say they can’t honor the original price because it is past the 30 days.

I ordered Timberland boots from the website www.timberlandcanada-sale.com. I paid about $200 for the order and postage. After I transferred money, the seller didn’t provide the confirmation email and the receipt. I started to send emails and asked about the status of my order, but I haven’t received any response. Maybe someone has any ideas how to return money back, please contact me then or leave a comment. Thanks.

Stay away from the horrible website www.cheaptimberlandoutletboots.co.uk. I bought two pairs of shoes from them. I paid and waited for confirmation info. I got the tracking number, but it was fake. I tried to contact the seller, but no one replied. I decided to reach them through the website, but they continued to keep silence. Maybe someone has any idea how to track this seller and return money back, please contact me then or leave a comment. Thanks.

I ordered a pair of Timberland wedges from timberlandshoes-discount.org but received "Defeeter" wedges instead. They are similar, but poor quality and definitely second choice. I only realized now that I was not sent a receipt for the shoes nor an address to where I can send them back.

This website has taken money from me and promised to deliver a pair of timberland boots within 3-5 days. Its now been 11 days and I've yet to receive my boots. They have now posted a notice on the website saying that any goods will not be delivered from 7 Feb 2010 to 29 Feb 2010. Don't think I'll ever see my boots.

This is an old thread but I'd like to add a similar experience. My wife bought me a pair of Timberland boots and the soles cracked on both boots. The water wets the inside of the boot on a rainy day. Timberland boots aren't good anymore. I remember a pair I had in high school- "Made in USA" -I believe and they lasted so long: 4 years of abuse and the soles never cracked. I have another pair that sat in the closet, hardly ever worn, and the soles magically disintegrated. I believe this is called dry rot. Every other part of the boot is in like-new condition. I also believe I will never buy Timberland ever again even if they're on sale. Timberland makes junk, Chinese-quality shoes and boots and Timberland is living off their former glory. Profit over durability and the customer is treated like dirt. Soon we'll be in the Charlie Chaplin era with shoes because current technology is not being used to make products more durable but less durable. I hope this and the other comments serve as a warning not to buy Timberland boots or you'll be ripped off.

I will never buy TIMBERLANDS AGAIN. The sole crumbled off and they are only a year old. I guess they should label them do not walk on salted sidewalks in NYC in the winter. They are garbage and I am out of $100. They should be ashamed of themselves. worthless crap

I have had 4 pairs of Timberland boots starting back in 1999. The first pair were some hiking boots that I rarely wore. I left them in the garage for a few years and upon cleaning I found them and when I picked them up the sole just fell right off one of the boots. Before throwing them in the garbage I did some research and found they offer a lifetime warranty. I was pleased that they stuck by there lifetime warranty and after sending them in for inspection they found the boots to be defective. To my surprise the same thing happened to the next pair of boots they sent as replacements. I do not wear boots that often, maybe a couple months out of the year due to the warm climate in South Western Florida, but if I did wear them everyday they would not last 6 months. This happened again and again! I continue to take advantage of their warranty and I am on my third pair of free warranty boots. I would not buy another pair of Timberland boots ever. I will however take advantage of a lifetime warranty. I think what happened was that they used to be made in the U.S.A. when they started with this "Lifetime Warranty" and after they started manufacturing overseas the quality and craftsmanship became far inferior. It has to be the glue they use. Somewhere along the lines they stopped stitching the sole to the upper. My advise to anyone with Timberland boots that are falling apart is to contact their customer service department.. My advice to anyone who is in the market for boots that last is DO NOT BUY Timberland boots! Below I have included an email that I received from there customer service department.

I bought a pair of Timberland Pro 8" Titan because of how comfortable they were in the store. I'm used to having to break a boot in for half a year before they're this comfortable. I bought my Timberlands almost two years ago and sadly, the soles on both boots had started cracking along the sides during the last year. As of yesterday, my right boot has cracked all the way through on the bottom along the flex point. While these are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, they don't seem to last very long. I'm also very easy on my footwear, somehow I can keep boots and shoes for 5 years easy, and wear them every day. I'm just not hard on my footwear and I don't know why. These boots didn't meet my expectations when considering longevity and that is too bad. I really liked them, they are my favorite pair of boots I've ever worn. I don't believe I'll be buying another pair as I expect a $140 pair of anythings to last me at least 5 years.

I'm on my second pair of Timberland Pro steel toe work boots. I paid $160 for the first pair at Shoe Carnival. Two months later they were absolute crap. The sole came unglued from the upper and was flapping in the breeze. Thankfully some Shoe Goo bought me a couple more weeks but the problem returned. I took them to the store and they said no problem we'll replace them. The only inconvenience on Shoe Carnival's part was I wear a 15 and nobody stocks them so they ordered them. I've been wearing the new pair for three months and the same issue is back. Plus I've Found that the inner heal has a massive hole in it within a week on both pairs. So Shoe Carnival is bringing in a pair of Wolverines for me and they're giving them to me at half price because timberland has started giving them a hard time about warranty returns. I had real good luck with Wolverines in the past so here is hoping their Quality hasn't taken the same dive as Timberland. I definitely would not recommend these boots to anyone who wears a pair hard.

Dear,

I had to write you this letter because I did not expect to have a problem with the shoes brand Timberland. When my cousin went to USA I asked her to get me a pair of Timberland pro series shoes. I became a proud owner in spring 2011. But last winter, the soles disintegrated and cracked in several place all the way through as you can see from the pictures that I´ve attached. The personal in your reseller store in Belgrade could not (didn´t know how to) help me because I no longer have a receipt from the store and they do not sell pro – series in Belgrade (Serbia). Shoemaker tried to fix it but... I still cannot believe that this happened because I admire the brand Timberland. I´ve attached the pictures as proof for you to see. I will continue buying your products, both clothes and shoes, because I assume what happened my shoes is just an accident.
PS: in my previous letter, I expressed myself wrong by saying/writing that I had receipt, my bad 

Best regards and thank you in advance for your response,

I bought a pair of Timberland Titans with the composite toe this is my second pair. My first pair lasted about a year before the bottom split where your foot bends I figured a year was pretty decent so I bought another pair. It hasn't even been 4 months and the bottom of both soles have split in the same place. Done with Timberlands

I've been wearing my Timberland boots for three years now and I am finally now trying to replace the heel. I hope I don't end up with inferior manufactured rubber like this. One thing I have noticed about the company, the newest model of my boots is terrible! All the metal eyelets are replaced for plastic. It's not even on the Timberland website now. Perhaps they shipped some weird boots up to the Mark's in Canada. I'm actually looking at their Timberland Pro website right now and I cannot find the new equivalent to my boots at all. They're an 8" boot with a full leather toe. Is that so damn hard to ask for from you guys? New dang ol' boots!?

I sell timberland boots and yes they have had issues. But from the picture shown they look to have a lot of wear. If it were a brand new boot and it did this it is one thing, but to wear them for 6 months and the sole start to fall apart, that usually means you had got your wear out of them. Another reason to buy boots with vibram soles as the are a better rubber and hold up a lot longer. I do agree with timberland boots quality down grading. Carolina has great domestic made boots now, with sewn in soles and just overall better quality. You just pay for that quality though. Support U.S.A. made products, China boots are garbage.

This was the letter I worte to Timbeland expling my problems with thier boots;

I am writing to your company for the second time in my life. First was in regards to a pair of timberland boots I purchased around 15 years ago; the sole was coming apart from the heel; you asked my to send the pair to you and you replaces them not questions asked. Now I am contacting you with the same issue but with another pair of boots; I can't believe that this happened again in the same exact way; the boot is coming out of the rubber sole. I tried gluing them like the last time but it was a temporary measure. So I ask your company again, is your company going to stand by its work? I only used these boots for 2 months and this should not be happening at all. I hope this is not the new way of your company; inferior products.

I just purchased a pair of Timberland Pro boots about less than 2 months ago and the bottom sole from the back is already ripping off... I purchased them at Sears and they said I have to go through Timberland I paid $150 for them to get the best! I got some boots from the swap meet for $40 and they lasted for more than a year. You pay for good quality and end up getting garbage! This is the first and last time I'm getting Timberland!

I bought a pair of Timberland snow boots (fur lined etc.) in the USA and then moved to the UK where they sat unused for several years. We've just had some snow in the UK so out come the boots and on return to the house we saw bits of rubber on the floor. The entire top rubber section of the boots had disintegrated with cracks through the sides down to the sole. Square inches of rubber (plastic?) just fell away and turned to powder. Like the others here the leather uppers are fine. Very disappointed that a very expensive pair of boots seem to be made out of such poor materials.

I was given a pair of Timberland boots in 1996 and they were very good quality, I then bought a pair and they only lasted three months, I got a second pair and they are starting to come unglued. This is very disappointing since one pays good money hoping for good quality!

Ive wanted a pair of Timbs for a long time. Got some 6inch work boots for the holidays cause i was going to be helping a friend out doing some farm work. It took three weeks for the sole to come off both shoes. My mate tried gluing them back down for me as they were my only work boot on the farm. Glue didnt hold out for long and the sole started splitting. So they last a month tops and thats walking with flapping soles for the last week!

Never had issues with Timberland Boots, stricter quality control are needed on their vendors to keep them honest, especially when they are made in China.
