I called The A Team Appliance Repair for service on my Samsung refrigerator that was losing power intermittently. The booking agent was very clear: it would be $80 + tax, which included the diagnosis and a report. Any actual repairs (labor + parts) would be separate. I booked based on that information.
A technician arrived 2–3 hours later in an old unofficial-looking car. He stayed for 45 minutes, inspected the fridge, and told me it needed a new MCU board, power supply, and board assembly at a total cost of around $1,345 for parts. Plus the $280. He then said the diagnosis fee was $280 + tax (or a total of $280 + tax for the visit), claiming the $80 was only a "booking fee" for showing up. This directly contradicted what the booking person had told me.
I paid the $280 + tax to avoid further hassle and threats of collections. However, the experience felt like a bait-and-switch: the upfront quote was misleading, and I ended up paying a high fee for what should have been a straightforward diagnosis under the original terms.
I got the diagnosis but no repair, and I strongly regret dealing with this company. Strongly recommend avoiding them entirely. Do your research and choose a reputable service with truly transparent upfront pricing. There are far too many similar complaints about misleading quotes and high pressure tactics.
