Japan Tobacco International [JTI] Dangerous!

I've smoked these sterling cigarettes for a few years now but the quality is getting worse. First they started to go out. Now they are literally falling apart. two days in a row (from2 different packs) the lot end if the cigarette has fallen off! I've burned my top and chair now this is highly dangerous. I know smoking isn't healthy or with out risks but for them to just fall apart is extremely poor quality control! This issue needs to be addressed ASAP and I think I am going to change brands!

I have been a loyal consumer of Sterling Cigarettes and so has my mother. But for the past couple of weeks I've been purchasing our cigarettes (20 packs) to discover they only have 19 in them. I'm extremely disappointed about this. I would like something done about this. I smoke menthol my mum smokes sterling red.

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] chunks of wood in my cigarettes!

I recently purchased 100 pack of mayfair superkings from my local tesco. I am very disappointed as most of the cigarettes had long pieces of wood in them! This has really put me off mayfair cigarettes and I am upset to change my brand as I have been purchasing your product for 8 years now. I hope you can sort this out.

I purchased a box of Sterling Fresh Taste cigarettes from my local Morrisons supermarket. I took out the first cigarette and there wasn't a mint capsule inside the filter. This is unsatisfactory as I only buy this brand because of the menthol capsule. I would like to contact the cigarette company (Sterling) to make a formal complaint as I feel I've brought a faulty product. Can anyone advise me on how to do so or get their information? Thankyou.

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] missing a ### only the butt

Me and my partner bought a 100 multi-pack of sterling superkings on opening the 4th packet I went to pull out a ### to only get the butt I then checked inside the pack to see if it had simply broken although there is no sign of the other part that makes up the ### ever being attached, needless to say that I did not find any other part to this ### only 19 full ### and a butt in whats meant to be a 20 pack. has anyone else had this problem or possibly know how i could complain to the company directly. I know its only one ### but as the prices have gone up considerable I find it rather frustrating that I am spending more money for something of worse quality.

Gemma

I noticed the number of cigarettes in a packet of sterling had went down from 20 to 19. Yesterday I purchased 2 packs from my local shop to come home and find only 18 in each I let it be but today the same happened I bought 1 pack to come home and find 18 again. Im paying the same price which I shouldn't be as I'm not receiving the correct amount in my packet. I would like an explanation for this asap. Could you contact me via email caitlinneilly12@outlook.com

In some parts of Europe (?), a cigarette is called "a ###" but I really think that you are trying to see what kind of reaction you can get from saying '### and 'butt' over and over.

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] poor quality/dangerous

Having bought these cigarettes as a first choice ever since they came out, I am disgusted in the quality; mainly that the heads keep falling off of the cigarettes and has caused considerable damage to my suite and to my carpet in my living room. I am now smoking another brand and these are fine but I did prefer the original Sterling Superkings Menthol which tasted better and were better quality!
This is extremely dangerous and I actually set fire to my living room carpet leaving huge burn marks on it and it had to be scrapped. My husband actually burnt a hole right through his suit jacket and trousers simply due to the fact that he was driving and didn't realise the head had fallen off until he felt his leg burning. We pay a considerable amount of money so we should be due a quality cigarette not something that is just chucked together!

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] cigarettes keep going out!!

I am disgusted with the fact that they keep putting up prices for a packet of cigarettes and people like myself cant really afford them every single day as benefits these days aren't much. Anyway almost every single pack i have bought this year is terrible, i have 2 or 3 drags and it goes out completely! i want this issue resolved as i am no longer happy with the quality of the cigarettes!

I hate to be the bearer of news you won't like but its not the cigarettes, its the paper. All tobacco companies were forced to go to a FSC paper. It means the cigarettes wont burn if someone leaves them unattended. If you arent taking a drag every 10 to 15 seconds it will go out. Its stupid but a common standard practice with all brands now.

its the new regulations From 17 November, a new EU directive will require cigarettes to meet a reduced ignition propensity (RIP) requirement. They will be manufactured to be self-extinguishable, to reduce the chance that they should set fire to sofas, beds and other combustible materials... hope this helps

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] poor quality

I am a smoker of 30 to 40 a day and over the last few days i have found cigarettes very dry going out half way through . I buy most of my cigarettes at morrisons on granton road edinburgh .
I bought 2x10 packs in ocean terminal leith edinburgh only as it was cheaper to my disgust the heads kept falling of . I did change to this brand as i found it cheaper than my normal brand Im sure i cant possibly be the only one with this complaint .I am aware that things can go wrong sometimes but hey its been going on a while . If i dont find a change soon i am going back to my old cigarettes ok which are more expensive also recently a much better smoke .

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] sterling superkings

I too have issues with Sterling Super kings which I normally buy is packs of 100 to save a few pence. Since the red tear-off tab now on all packs or at least on the Super kings I buy, the tobacco is different both in the way it burns (or not in my case) and in it's aroma or taste if you know what I mean. They are harsher when smoked which could mean they have changed supplier but my main issue is they do not stay alight longer than a few puffs and the ash refuses to be flicked off unlike earlier packs. So clearly they have changed to something and for the worse. Could be cost-cutting, could be a lousy batch of tobacco but whatever it is, I'm switching to another brand as these are pretty much rubbish now.

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] knots in the tobacco hard to smoke and cigarette goes out

I have bought several packets of sterling blue and red cigarettes and have been very disappointed in the quality when the cigarette is lit and bein smoked it appears to have knots in the tabacco then it goes out sometimes it can be difficult to actually smoke it. These are very expensive and it is very disappointing to have tryed so many packets and to find they are all the same, surely there should be some comeback

Yeah i dont work for them. i just was forced to quit smoking weed after 18 yrs of growing and i like their products. They arent marketed to get you high but if you have a void in yoir life of sitting down rolling up and blazing then this sure will fill it. Ive only tried the panama gold, bahli bubble, blueberry, and the solid o.p.n and enjoyed them all. There are some products i definitely wouldnt order but others i would order again. And as far as not being able to call i have a direct customer service number that a human answers and it didnt take alot of searching to find so u must be an idiot. Not to mention you threw away close to 300$ out of ignorance. If u cant smoke weed and dont want holes in ur brain from spice and its ### synthetic jwh-018 then this ia for you. Just dont expect to get high cause thats not the ppint.

Japan Tobacco International [JTI] these are not the same as before

Having found this forum it seems I am no the only one to have noticed that Sterling cigarettes have changed in some way. I have purchased a pack of 100 and single packs of 20 and found that lately the cigarette keeps going out. As any smoker knows, re-lighting a cigarette tastes awful - is this a ploy to make us give up the dreaded weed?
In trying to think logically about why this is happening, I don't think the tobacco is as tightly packed as it has been previously - this leads me to assume that LESS tobacco is being used in the product. I feel short-changed!

hey - it promotes a deeper inhalation to draw the arsenic, anisyl phenylacetate, cadmium and ammonia deeper into the lungs - and upping the nicotine and meth also has something to do with it; helps to deepen the addition - go ahead - just try to quit; see, told ya' so!

I have smoked sterling superkings for many years, but in the last few months they have contained woody lumps which cause the cigarettes to go out. This would appear to be a downgrade to the brand and I find it an absolute disgrace being charged nearly 60 pounds for a 200 pack which are sub-standard and give no satisfaction. Unfortunately I buy in bulk and purchased 2, 000 (all with the same problem) and still have 800 to get through. This is going to be the last purchase and I am changing to another brand. The company should address this problem before they lose many customers, smokers are ripped off with the cost and will not be be ripped off with quality.

For the past severalweeks I too have noticed that my Sterling Superkings smooth go out two or three times whilst smoking. I purchase approximately 250 per week and if Gallaher want to keep my custom they should go back to the original 'recipe'.
It is about time Gallaher gave us a reason for this downgrade in their product before they lose millions of pounds worth of sales to another brand. Interesting isn't it that we are unable to contact them directly! Guess they know that their inbox would be inundated with complaints!
Contact me Gallaher on carolie@talktalk.net - three grand a year is a lot to lose and I am just one of your customers!

Sooo pleased to have found virtually a duplicate record of my recent thoughts :o)
Like yourself, I too have smoked Sterling Superkings for around 3 to 4 years now
Whatever they've "done" or "changed" in the manufacture of Superkings is a TOTAL DISGRACE ... as if they're not expensive enough! BUT to have EVERY single cigarette "burn out regularly" ... IT's A TOTAL JOKE
I cover a tremendous area, throughout the North West of England and have been purchasing 10 packs, 20 packs, single packets and even "packs" from a huge variety of retailers - The Cooperative, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's as well as "local corner shops" and i've even paid the ridiculous price charged at Petrol Stations
Unsure what to do though! :o)
Keep posting, I will
Oh and thanks to MauiAl49 for their comments!? NOT ... I'm sure you do something to yourself which would be just as irritating to "us smokers" too.
So PLEASE NO MORE silly and childish comments about smoking being bad for your health - WE ARE ADULTS you know

Well the packets of 19 have been priced at £7.04 and just went down to £6.99, and then I noticed the packet looked even smaller. They're at it again and now there are only 18 in a packet! To top that they are carefully putting the 18 on the wrapper, not the packet, so when you've binned the sellophane you don't see the content anymore and there's no address on the packet either.

I am also getting 19 in a pack and not 20 - isn't this misleading selling or something?

to say that the cigarettes are now made fire safe, is the total opposite?yes they do keep going out and you have to relight them, what with?a flame?a naked flame and that is at least four times for one cigarette, there is more chance of a fire starting with a flame, than a lit cigarette?also when you do relight the cigarette the smoldering ash falls every where causing burns to carpets your clothes and the most dangerous factor your skin, i think the more people that go and get legal help and try to claim who ever or what ever system is responsible for such a decision

As far as I understand it from a friend who works in the tobacco industry these so called fire safe cigs have seen an increased amount of toxic chemicals being used. The mamby pamby EU and UK politicians still think that the public does not notice such things, yet they still keep taking more and more in taxation from smokers, if they banned tobacco products they would have to increase other taxes by quite a significant amount. As for the last tax increase on tobacco, my local tobacconist has only just put his prices up whereas Tesco et al put their prices up in April even though they still had hundreds of thousands of packs in stock that they had bought at the old tax rate, they do this every budget, order massive amounts before the budget and rip off the public. Yet I like many of my generation did not smoke before they joined HM Armed Forces where even to this day our soldiers, sailors and airmen still get heavily subsidised tobacco products.

I have been buying Amber Leaf hand rolling tobacco for quite some time now, but have noticed more and more lately the unacceptable amount of large shards of wood in this product.Today I opened a fresh pouch only to find no less than seven pieces of wood measuring 5.8cm - 6.7cm.in length within the pouch. I would have had no hesitation in returning the pouch to you had it not been for the fact that I am presently unemployed and could not afford to buy another pouch (or similar other brand) at the time. This is the first time I have ever registered a complaint to you and was astonished to find the amount of complaints on your website. I presume I will hear nothing back from you, never mind any recompense.I look forward to finding out!
