Stein Mart awful company

I was employed with stien mart for seven years with a one year break because of finding another job but in beginning of june i was asked by management to come back so because i loved my job so much i decided to do so i love customers and i had many threw my time working there knew me by name and came there asking for me by name as time went on i developed loving relationships with regular customers along with employees will to make a long story short sept 18, 2008 me and another employee were working we had a long couple weeks for she worked in my department she was full time and i part time we just finished getting a temp sale together and running fitting room it was a good day we worked together that day to knock out tasks quicker i admit we did talk to each other but never lost focus of work as day went on we learned that out lost prevention team was there we were told they were there to look a cameras in hopes to catch shop lifters for we had been having many episodes with theft we were told not to acknowledge the female LP agent so customers wouldn't know we knew her they had gotten there at around 3 that afternoon and were in office viewing tapes about sevenish the other the employee that got fired in my department along with me was called to office i was cleaning up department but i couldn't help to think why she was taking so long id say 15 min went by and she walked out office walking toward me i said kim (thats what ill call her to protect privacy) i gave her a look like what took so long and smiled she lipped to me she got fired i said what why she said because we were talking but that she couldn't talk to me that she would call me later i went on working shocked and nervous trying to understand 5 min later i was called in office the door was closed so i went in sat down beside lp lady and my boss asked me how do i think we prevented shrink in my ladies department i told her by making sure customer took six items in fitting room and helping them on floor and filling out ticket requisition forms she shook her head telling me that today me and kim were being watched and that she so us on tape talking for a hour i said yes we did talk but were were also talking about operation in store and temp sale etc she told me my story didn't match kims and i said well sorry but thats what happened i cant control what she said i am telling you what took place she looked at lp lady and said anything you wanna add she said well thats not what it looks like on tape i am like how do they know cameras don't pick up volume only visual so i was told i was being terminated no verbal or written on sheet it said as reason that i was being fired for visiting with kim ignoring customers and not watching fitting room all not true i was hurt because after 7 years of hard work and weeks before time coming in on days off and working backroom my manager told me thank you and how she owed me this is how she paid me back just cause we were working and talking i signed sheet saying i was talking but we also talked about sales that had to be set that night and floor moves she told me to hand her my badge and when i clean out my locker leave it open i was upset and confused i had never been fired by any job and never thought id ever be i am a single mother trying to raise my 7 year old autistic little girl on my own and now i am worried about how i am going to make rent and bills all i ever tried to do was my job and this is thanks i get but i will be following up with this with my lawyer because theres others in company that already left that were to scared to speak up that instead quit i will be that voice.

Oct. 23, ordered dress that has not been received as of Feb. 15.

Emailed and Chat several times asking for status of dress and/or get refund. Only get a replay that there is heavy volume in customer service.

Tucson is in the 6 months of summer. We are the third hottest city in the USA. Would you not think that with the danger of these stores closing, due to lack of sales, that they would listen to the calls made to corporate, but oh no, Stein Mart always does things that show no respect for the customer . The employees are excellent and so personable. It is a lovely store. But I too am shopping on line as they are open at the time I want to order.I prefer however to see the merchandise.The store personal want better hours for us too.I do like the store. but at age 82 I like to get in and out before the heat hits.The stores in tucson all have self centered CEO, and then wonder why there places are on the hit list for closures.I would say to Stein mart, test it and be the leader in store sales.

I bought a tignanello purse from a shelf that said 30% off and at the cashier the lady told me it was not on sale. After we purchased it she went to the shelf and removed the 30% off sign. The store should honor the discount listed.

I received an email stating that my order was cancelled because they are out of stock. I went online and saw that I can order the same exact blanket for regular price. So they are not out of stock. The customer service Rep said she can't reorder at sale price. order Number [protected]

Hi - I am very fond of Stein Mart. I must admit that maybe I am too fond of the store. I have to poke my head inside the door everytime I get an email with an item I may be interested in and... quite possibly on sale. I have purchased clothing, bed coverlet, pillows, dishes, my crock pot and Rachel Ray spaghetti maker all from Stein Mart. I confess, this is the only store I need. My only negative is the name of the store. I originally thought it was a piano store selling Steinway pianos. I WAS WRONG! Once you go inside the store there is a world of fresh merchandise and styles. Oh I forgot to mention, they have a great shoe department. I luv the IMPO Brand - I love the styles and the fit. I am never disappointed with Stein Mart. I live in Southern California and I literally only shop at Stein Mart. Great service, great people - just want you all to know this store is special. And, since Stein Mart is not inside a large mall but rather in neighborhood shopping areas - parking for me is always easy and convenient.

I went in to return an item, and purchase another item. The cashier on duty
was very rude in her disposition. She never gave a smile, and talked abrupt.
I worked with Stein Mart fourteen years, and was appalled at the customer
services skills this young lady has.

You have to be superman to work here. Don't expect to finish your tasks I'm in the floor because you have to also be cashier most of the day and watch other departments from other constant employee call outs. Oh and make sure you help out every customer that comes your way because just ticking one off can cause them to call corporate no matter if it's your fault or theirs.
I've worked here for 5 years and don't see the workplace the same like I used to. I used to feel excited to come to work and felt like it was a breath of fresh air from being anywhere else. Now it's expectations, pleasing every customer, and doing other peoples work.
Now I don't mind giving good customer service and helping out others but it's gotten ridiculous now, like it's so stressful to work now.
It's poor management that I really blame in the store. It's never enough cashiers or people working most days. And that creates more work for the floor people.

I TOO WAS ONCE A STEINMART EMPLOYEE. I WORKED VERY HARD FOR 2 1/2 YRS. AND DURING THIS TIME WAS NEVER CONSIDERED FULL TIME IN ORDER TO SAVE THE COMPANY MONEY. EVEN THOUGH I NEVER WORKED LESS THAN 40 HRS. A WEEK. I EVEN WOULD COME IN ON MY DAYS OFF TO DO THE AUDIT. WELL I FINALLY GOT ENOUGH BRAINS TO QUIT AND FOUND A JOB IN THE MEDICAL FIELD I LOVE, GETTING PAID DBL. WITH BENEFITS.
