I talked to SportsMED 'bout billing me for $100 for a missed appointment, but that ain't true. I had an MRI on 12-07-2019 and I went. I want SportsMED to remove this $100 no-show appointment and not put it on my credit report ASAP. They keep billing me for a missed appointment on 12-05-2019, but I didn't miss it 'cause I had an MRI on 12-07-2019 and I went.

I went to see Dr. Ocampo at SportsMED Orthopedic Surgery & Spine Center in Madison, AL on 10/27. They made me pay a co-pay at the time of service, but when I got my BC/BS statement, it said I only owed $20. I asked for a refund by mail, but they didn't give me one by January. I called on 2/10 and they said someone named "***" would call me back, but she didn't. I called again on 2/14 and they said they had issued the refund on 1/13, but there was a "problem with the bank" and they couldn't mail it. "***" called me back and said SportsMed isn't responsible for refunds once they ask the bank for it. She said other people got their refunds, but I didn't. She said I had to pay $30 for a stop check order and ask for the refund again. I don't think it's fair that I have to pay for their mistakes. They should make sure I get my refund on time.

I went to SportsMed in Huntsville, AL for a swollen foot. The podiatrist diagnosed a fractured 2nd metatarsal on my left foot and told me to get a crutch or a cane and a boot. He instructed me to make an appointment in another month to reexamine. I paid an upfront copay of $55.00 and downstairs $42.00 for the boot. Later, I found out that I was charged for "Surgery, Code XXXXX" on the BlueCrossBlue Shield of AL website. I called the BCBS of AL Fraud Hotline and the SportsMed billing representative verified that the podiatrist claimed "Surgery, Code XXXXX" and that a sub category of the code was called "Closed Treatment of a Fracture." However, no physical treatment or surgery was performed during the initial visit. The issue was not how much was billed, it is that no physical treatment or surgery was performed. This is theft and fraud at a systemic level. When billing has found that they are in error, I would be happy to discuss it with them so that the total Surgery charge can be removed from my bill including what was charged to my insurance.
