Good Day
I booked a table for 20 Guests for my twin sisters 50th birthday yesterday. What a great disappointment. I have been liaising with Pelisa and we were going to have it on the Saturday and both me and Pelisa agreed on the Sunday as the Chefs set up a buffet anyway on a Sunday. I then received another call from Amanda I think her name was but I have the call recording of that particular call whereby I confirmed once again that we will be there at 1:30 . Also I told her we have some fussy eaters as there was kids too I told her some just eat rice and chicken and some roast potato if she can ask the chef to add pasta it would be great. I called just before 1:30 to say we are running a bit late. Got there before 2. I didn't go and really check what is being served. The waitress came at about 2:10 to let us know we need to start because they closing at 3:30. It was very empty and when we started dishing up the dissatisfied and disappointment on my family's face was unbearable. No white rice! We asked if there was any left nope nothing. They served samp and beans I mean what the hell I can understand
samp I mean Umngqusho and we paying R250 per person. There was no one at the roast station I asked them to please call someone to assist us the chef at that station came out and served one of the guests that was not with us and left again. They served Linguine with mix veg and mushrooms as a pasta with the results there was not even roast potatoes for the kids to eat the roast chicken was limited so I gave my piece to my husband. So the only food as mains was the beef or mutton curry, butternut, country crop that was extremely undercooked and the linguine which was not tasty. They had to nibble on the ice cold stale samosas. At this point I asked for the manager that told me that our booking was not confirmed that is why the chef did not prepare to cook for so many people. When it came to desert, we had to wait as they had to make custard and then there was only red velvet cake and some small black berry cheese thing which I eventually got some of as we had to wait for an extremely long time.
At the end we paid a full bill and gave the waitress her tip even though no one came to our table asking if we ok or needed anything there was no guests really a lot of waitresses, but we didn't get any service.
What a horrible experience Hemingway's Key Largo I have been going to dine there for many years and never thought me and my family would receive such discrimination.
What exactly did we pay so much for because if we had gone even to a wimpy of Spur we would've at least gotten value for money your standards have fallen flat. I hope that you will not throw this email under the carpet and not deal with those parties responsible. You truly made something that was supposed to have been memorable into a bad experience.
Kind Regards
Recommendation: Make sure you speak to the chef personally and they must send you the menu otherwise you will end up dissapointed
