When I joined the university on July 2014 I was assured that students participating in alcoholism and smoking were suspended immediately. And ragging is strictly frowned upon.
But after tow years of living in Aryabhatt Hostel at that university, not only do students participate in alcoholism and smoking, they acquire drugs and force their juniors (including me) to participate in consuming them. Juniors are forced by seniors to exit their rooms late at night and perform (dances, singing, jokes) for their seniors.
I am unable to sleep properly through the night as people are always screaming and shouting till 2 am. and roommates call their friends to my room and they keep chatting till early morning, preventing both sleep and studies.
I have complained to the warden several times but he refuses to take action saying that "I don't want to ruin their future."
Here are some recommendations
1) Create a whatsapp number for submitting important complaints to top management members.
2) Dedicate an entire floor of the hostel only to those students who have proven their academic capabilities and good behavior.
3) Have guards do random corridor walks after 11 PM every night to check for loud music, smokers, drinkers. They usually smoke and drink in the bathroom balcony late at night.
4) The small shop next to the restaurant near the F-Block sells cigarettes to students, place a guard there.
5) Introduce small punishments like 5 day suspension, Hostel staff is understandably reluctant to give punishments like rustication and months of suspension, hence decide to let things like this go unpunished.
If four students were rusticated then I can assure you that no one ever heard of it, neither I nor my roommates. Whenever I reminded the drunk students that their behavior will get them suspended, they would say "No one ever gets suspended", and as I am into my third year at your university I can assure you that no one ever does.
I have been to the authority with this several times but then I was threatened and sometimes beaten by my fellow students because I cannot remain anonymous when they know the only person who doesn't acquiesce to their brute behavior, unlike the staff members.
I would like to see this university reach new heights and achieve it's goals, but if there is no proper line of anonymous communication with management (Not the hostel staff who are friends with these brute students) and problems continue to be solved in a way that the accused can figure out who complained against them, then this university will always remain a place where academically inclined students never want to return to.
If you would like to help us don't just make strict rules, but actually stand by them.
In this connection, I am to state that the University is committed to make its Campus alcohol and drug free and is pledged for zero tolerance in this regard. We have already rusticated four students from the hostel during last session who were found drunk. However, if such activities are still going on in the Hostel, we will take strict action in this regard. I shall be happy if the complainant can confide with me and send specific information for taking action against the culprit(s). It would have been better if the complainant had taken into the confidence the Vice Chancellor rather than sending this anonymous e.mail.

Dear all, I don't agree with this complaint as I am residing in this hostel for last 3 years. My name is Sumit, BSC-MSc integrated and this is not any anonymous or fake message. I have never seen such a incident in the hostel and even enjoyed a good life . I have very good experience with my seniors and juniors in the hostel and this is the best hostel among all hostels in Shoolini University. All the above information is fully fake.
