I contacted Select Property Management, http://www.selectpropmgt.com/, on 1/2/2022 about a rental. They required an application and approval to view it. Unusual, but I complied. A $35 application fee was refundable if we opted out. Criteria included 3x rent income, 650+ credit score, and 2-year rental history. My group qualified and submitted our details. By 1/10/2022, we were denied for credit, history, and employment, despite meeting criteria. They withheld explanations and our fee. Yelp reviews echoed this issue, suggesting a possible scam.

Select Property Management, Inc is a total joke. They got roaches all over the place and the managers and office people never pick up the phone. They don't know how to talk to people and only care about taking your money. When you try to tell them they're being unprofessional, they just get mad. Don't waste your time with these clowns.

I live in a place managed by Select Property Management, Inc. and I gotta say, they don't seem to care much about us tenants. Today, some lady named Tiffany W put a noise complaint on my door. She didn't even try to fix the problem, even though I've been complaining about it for over a year through emails and voicemails. When I talked to her about it, she just crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. Finally, a maintenance guy came a year later, but he just told me there was no problem. Then, when a new tenant complained about the noise, Tiffany came over to investigate, but she didn't do a very good job. Plus, the elevator hasn't worked for eight months! Luckily, I live in California, so I'm gonna tell HUD about all this.
