Their "warranty" is misleading. They claim that it doesn't matter if the appliance is old. In section 8 of their warranty, however, they determine the "depreciated value" of the appliance. I the depreciated value is less than the cost of the repair, they will only give a cash reimbursement of the depreciated value. Our gas range is a Thermador in perfect condition except the oven ignitor stopped working. Select Home Warranty determined that our $9,000 range is only worth $150 and would only reimburse us for $150 towards a repair or replacement. How they came up with an appreciated value of only $150 is beyond me. If your appliance are new, maybe this may be the plan for you, but if your appliances are over a couple of years old - beware - they will only pay for depreciated value of which they determine. In the warranty it claims they pay for a second opinion of replacement value, however when I called, they said it comes out of the $150 depreciated value of the cash reimbursement. How can they claim that the customer doesn't have to pay for a second opinion?
Recommendation: Don't use
