Select Home Warranty All premiums to be refunded.

Submitted a claim for HVAC (Heater) repair for my mothers house. She is 83 years old. Claim was denied since we did not have service records and Select Home Warranty offered $150.00.
We explained the house is 23 years old and has had many owners. The HVAC is the original unit.
We were asked if we could find and contact any of the previous owners and have them send us any service records they may have. REALLY?!

We did have the unit serviced two times in the past two years and sent the service records as requested and were told the claim would be reviewed and a representative would contact us within 48 hours. No representative called us. I called and spoke to Select Home Warranty three additional times and was told each time, for a total of four times, that a representative would be in touch after 48 hours of each conversation.

Still nothing and have heard from no representative.
This is a predatory company exhibiting predatory tactics.
I am demanding on behalf of my mother all her premiums be refunded.

Select Home Warranty Home warranty

I went under contract with Select Home Warranty in September of 2022. They never provided services on a claim I put in for the month. No one was sent out. Time changes were not communicated by Select Home Warranty or their contractors. After a couple of weeks of no one getting back to me, I submitted a cancellation request prior to October 2022, well within 30-day grace period, so I could receive a full refund. Select Home Warranty failed to return my calls to finalize my cancellation. I finally got a hold of someone who could finalize my cancellation request, except they did not contact me until after the 30-day grace-period had lapsed. Select Home Warranty then claimed that they did not owe me a full refund because the grace-period had lapsed, even though I had made my request over the phone prior to that grace-period ending.

It has now been almost 4 months since I have cancelled my policy with Select Home Warranty, and I have still not received even the partial refund, nor have I received a written confirmation letter of my cancellation. I have been calling Select Home Warranty non-stop since October seeking my money and seeking a confirmation letter, yet nothing has been provided to me. No one returns my calls, Select Home Warranty will not send anything in writing, and they are refusing to send me a written transcript of the telephone conversations I have had with them, so I at least have something to submit to file a claim against them to get what I am owed. I have spent countless hours on the phone waiting and speaking to representatives that will do nothing for me and who state that will be one to two business days to process or one to two business days for that to be sent or one to two business days for someone to call you back. One to two business days is just empty words they tell you to get you off the phone; nothing is ever done by them.

Desired outcome: I want my refund that I am owed and I want my confirmation letter for the cancellation of my policy.

Select Home Warranty Water heater replacement claim denied

Please Note: I am requesting to be reimbursed for the Water Heater Repair Cost: $2350.

1. A few days before Jan 9th, I heard a few popping noises coming from water heater.

2. Then on Monday Jan 9th, around 6:00 PM PDT, I realized there was no hot water coming from the faucets.

4. When I went and checked, to see if the water heater was heating, I noticed that there was water around water heater and the storage tack was cold.

3. So I called Select Home Warranty on Jan 9th and informed them that my water heater was not working.

4. The agent wanted to know if there was any water leaking? I said yes, there is water leaking from the bottom of the water heater and it was dripping into the garage area. I also said, if this is not fixed, I will have water damage and requested an emergency repair.

5. I was informed that to assign a technician, it will take 2 - 4 business days. I informed the agent that this is unacceptable and that if I could talk to a supervisor.

6. The supervisor came online and said, that they will escalate this and try to get a technician scheduled the next day. During my call, even the supervisor wanted to know if there was a Water Leak? I said yes and explained to her that I had not seen water leaking before, but could be because something could have been damaged inside and that is the reason the water heater is not working. I also informed the supervisor, due to the inclement weather in California, the temperature goes down to about 40 degrees Fahrenheit and having young kids at home, requested immediate attention and getting the water heater repaired.

7. Then I was informed that somebody will be in touch with me the Tuesday Jan 10th.

8. Next day, Tuesday Jan 10th, since I had not heard back from Select Warranty, I called again to inquire about the claim and repair. While I was on the call, I was informed that my claim has been denied and the agent read this statement to me, "the water heater is leaking and unfortunately Leaks are not covered by your policy. Please see section 6.2.7 of the policy agreement"

9. Not only was I frustrated and disappointed, and felt that the money I had paid to get the home warranty was a scam and that my claim was being denied when a technician has not even diagnosed the problem.

10. Since, I could not wait any longer to get my water heater fixed, I promptly called Water Heater Specialist, a local repair company to diagnose the problem and resolve the issue.

11. I was informed by Water Heater Specialist that there is an $89 Service Charge/Diagnostic Fee, and the fee will be waived if the repair was done.

12. Finally, a water heater specialist diagnosed the problem. It was determined, the heater was old and the rumbling noises had caused a minor explosion inside, in turn it caused the water to leak. The water heater was replaced at a cost of $2350.00

Select Home Warranty Claim #[protected]

We submitted a claim before Christmas 2022 specifically on 12/19/22. The heater has not been working since then, only blowing cold air. We have only received a lot of run around since then about how technicians could not be found and we ended up having to find someone ourselves. We paid their consultation fee of $49 that I wish to have reimbursed. The company tech that came out submitted reports of diagnosis and repair and costs which we sent over to you for review and approval. We called today as a rep told us finalized approval would be done today, and now you all tell us another 48 hours to review. I have had it! We are in the cold season. We have had to go out to purchase 3 personal heaters to keep our kids and dog warm. It is unfair to think we paid for warranty on our home, and you all are not doing your job. We have read the policy and understand what is covered and not and cannot believe you all do not have a response to get this repair done already. I will be reporting Select Home Warranty to the BBB and reaching out to Headquarters!

Desired outcome: Fix my heater asap or refund me my premium that was paid for your coverage.

Select Home Warranty Cancel my contracts

I purchased two home warranties and tried to cancel the same day. I called and was told I had cancelled and was given reference numbers. Then someone claiming to be a “supervisor of the whole company” called me and told me that I could not cancel until after one year, despite the language on the contract that says you can cancel within 30 days without penalty. He said that provision in my policy did not apply bc I have a multi-year contract. I told him I was exercising my 3 day right of recission and he told me that I still could not cancel.

Select Home Warranty Think twice before purchasing a Home Warranty.

I purchased warranty service from Select Home warranty. I put in a claim about a water leak on my main line, located about 3 feet from front of building. They answer back stating that since the leak is out of the house, repair is not covered. They give me the following section:

"6.3.1. Plumbing System. This Agreement covers the following plumbing system components: (i) line leaks in water, drain, waste or vent lines not caused by damage resulting from freezing or from roots; (ii) line breaks in water, drain, waste or vent lines not caused by damage resulting from freezing or from roots; (iii) toilet bowls; (iv) toilet tanks; (v) toilet flushing mechanisms; (vi) angle stops; (vii) risers;

Excluded: (i) water softeners; (ii) slab leaks" I don't see where it states out of building is not covered, or living areas. So I want to report this so other clients can be aware of the tactics these companies use, they advertise one thing, but when it comes to respond they dig up a thousand of excuses not to respond like they paint themselves to be.

Select Home Warranty repairs

I have filed several claims to get items repaired within my home and yet select has failed to do so and tells me to find a vendor who will work with select in repairing these items. Select gives me the same line each time. "We are so overwhelmed with claims" This is ridiculous for the following

1. It is not my job

2. I pay select to cover and repair my home items and if I have to find the vendor then there is no need for me to pay select and I could save hundreds of dollars in doing so.

3. If select can't do their job for which they are paid then refund me my monies.

4. There are no vendors that are willing to work with me and select. Thus I end up paying out of pocket in full.

5. Select has failed to live up to its own contract and makes up excuses not to pay out claims.

Desired outcome: Refund of monies paid to select and or appliance and other claims which have been filed to be repaired and select to perform their jobs in finding vendors to fix these items within my home.

Select Home Warranty Home repair - plumbing

On Dec. 19, 2022 I had a leak from the upstairs bathroom to the family room below. It got the ceiling wet (damaged) and the carpet below. I called my home insurance to fix ceiling and they sent a mitigation team out to make sure the damage was limited. They had a company come out to test the walls for asbestos but when that came out negative they were ready to take out the ceiling to expose pipes so plumber could come out. I had already called Select Home Warranty to send a plumber out to fix the leak bu they sent a contractor who looked at the ceiling with a device on his mobile phone and said there was black water in the ceiling. The mitigation team who took out the ceiling said black water is potentially from the toilet. They cleaned things up. When I called Select Home Warranty to come back out they said that the WD Contractor inspector said that there was mold. My mitigation team said there is no mold. I kept trying to get Select to send another plumbing company to fix bathroom which we haven't been able to use in more than 2 weeks and finally today they told me the leak wasn't normal wear and tear so they couldn't cover it although leaks are covered in the contract.

Desired outcome: Get plumber out to fix the leak asap.

Select Home Warranty Refrigerator

Submitted a claim 12/26/2022 because refrigerator stopped working. After two days a tech showed up and determined it was a compressor issue and sent the finding to Select. On the 28th I called to get an update and was told it normally takes 24-48 hours for a reply to check my email. Nearing 120 hours later (food already spoiled) I received the email offering me $200 toward any repairs that I have done, myself. What happen to repair/replace covered item? My first claim with Select has been a nightmare and a total waste of money. I had to also pay the tech $75 service fee and the only way I can get the $200 is when I send Select a copy of the paid receipt. What a joke!

Desired outcome: I want all my monthly payments return as well as my service fee and contract cancel.

Select Home Warranty no response

I filed a claim, #[protected] om 12-27 and still have not received any results from anyone. Therefore I am asking you to cancel our contract with you and refund any money. This was our first claim with your company and are very disappointed with your lack of service.

The reason we went with your company is because the last company we had failed to respond to our claim and we almost froze to death.

Select Home Warranty Repair to hot water heater

Select Home Warranty was contacted on December 23, 2022, by myself to report that my hot water heater was not producing any hot water. Through a series of several more phone calls and several more email communications, five days later (now breach of contract) Select Home Warranty never contacted a single service technician/plumber to come to my home (I live in a highly populated area) and when I had to find a plumber on my own, I had the plumber talk directly to the authorization team to approve the diagnosis and repair (the gas valve needed to be replaced), they would only approve $200.00 or an $800.00 bill that I had to pay out of my own pocket! Let me also add that this was during a winter storm and I had Christmas guests coming for several days. It was literally like Little House on the Prairie around here, having to boil water on my stove for dish washing, sponge bathing and hair washing. The level of incompetence is monumental. This is also the second time I had to place a service call where I ended up having to contact a local service technician to come to my home because Select home Warranty failed to do their job. I did not have any hot water for a total of five days.

Desired outcome: Full reimbursement of repair bill $800.00, formal apology, plus an additional $200.00 fee amount due to the fact that Select Home Warranty was completely in breach of their contract with me. Five days of No Hot Water.

Select Home Warranty 5 year platinum plan

Purchased a 5 year Platinum plan with SHW 08/21. The platinum plan covers everything including roof leaks. haha. 1st claim was AC unit in 05/22. Sensor went bad. Fixed with no issues. Took longer than my previous company but it was fine. 2nd claim is been a nightmare. 12/22 Water heater overflow tank cracked (could be from resent cold snap in GA, IDK cause I am not a plumber) and caused a geyser of water in my attic. Had to turn off the water to entire house. Filled claim with homeowners Ins for damage. Collapsed second floor and kitchen ceilings, Capet and hardwood floor damage. Claim with SHW warranty denied claim without even sending anyone out to assess the issue, saying they do not cover leaks. This is not leak. My water heater basically erupted. My contract and their website clearly state that Water heaters are covered. I quote: All components necessary for the water heater to function. Water heaters do not have many parts. Anything that fails on a Water Heater besides maybe the the power supply will cause a "leak". Leaks to me would be the pipes leading to and from the water heater. Anything else should not be considered a leak! They claim to fix or replace. Feel this is total BS. My plumbing is also covered under this warranty but I have no faith in this company if they do not cover leaks. What good is a policy for water heaters and plumbing if it does not cover leaks? Not sure how they are even in business. The CSRs just read from a script and repeated over and over that leaks are not covered. You can't get to a supervisor. They say one will call me back but I doubt it. The one I talked to would not even give the number for corp. Said they are not allowed to give it out. Second one gave me the number and I left a long and heated message. Being a older single lady, I thought I was covered but apparently I have been scammed. Stay far far away from this company! I will be calling my own plumber to fix this and I will be filing a complaint with anyone that will listen and probably a law suit to get my money back by looks of the other reviews.

Desired outcome: I want a full refund of the premium for the remaining YEARS so I can get the coverage I need from a real company.

I have a similar issue with Select Home Warranty. I bought a 3 year plan. My first call was handled fairly quickly - shower nozzle wasn't turning off all the way. The plumber didn't seem to be able to get the water temperature right when installing a new handle and doing something with the pipe in the wall.

Then I had an water pressure regulator go bad and when I told them they said they would send someone out. they didn't ask me if it was outside the house which is was and when the plumber got here he said its not covered by Select. I still had to pay the plumber just for coming out. His quote was fairly outrageous and I had a local plumber fix it for much less.

On Dec. 19 I had a leak from the upstairs bathroom down through the ceiling of the family room below. I called Select after calling my home insurance since insurance doesn't pay for plumbing. The contract says it covers leaks. Select sent out a company called WD Contractor and a supervisor came out and pointed his phone at the ceiling which was still in place and said there was black water. the company doing mitigation for insurance took down the ceiling and saw no signs of mold. I called several times and after I sent an email from mitigation company and sent pictures of pipes I was told today by Select that it wasn't normal wear and tear. They never inspected the plumbing, bathroom or pipes. They said a Manager would call me but I didn't receive a call back. I'm cancelling my contract.

Select Home Warranty Claims service, sales division, customer claims

I filed my first claim on Friday December 23, My claim case# is [protected] Policy # contract policy# 1577612 So far no repair or service, Only excuse, Lies, and what I call gate keepers that are rude, lie, and hang up, or keep you on hold then hang up. I'm a 74 years old senior with stage 2 cancer, leukemia, blood and bone cancer. My heat pump stopped working I only get form emails with the answer we are in possession of your service request, still nothing is done, One agent said they do not have any Heat pump service companies, or. supervisor available. They SHW Claims do not allow customers to speak to a manager, only claims representatives that read a scrip, two SHW just hung up on me, two put me on hold then the call just hung up after listening to classic music for over one hour. Nothing has been done to service my Bryant Heat Pump. I suggested that SHW check in Tucson AZ. or Phoenix AZ. I live in a small city; Sierra Vista AZ.. I do not understand why a company can be so rude and nasty to customers. Please help settle this claim, My home is only 53F inside, outside temperature is 33F in the early morning until maybe noon. My home address is: 3774 Camino Arroyo, Sierra Vista AZ 85650. My home phone is a land phone, I do not TEXT, [protected] Arizona is in Mountain Time Zone. Why does Select Home Warranty claims just (LIE) or and make excuses? I'm on a fixed income of only$24,000 per year, I can't afford a outside contractor and pay the added service call expense of$30.00, than wait for approval from SHW. Select Home Warranty The warranty

I have a contract ([protected]) with Select Home Warranty (SHW). My dryer broke and I submitted the claim online as suggested. A day or so later, I received a call just, to answer the same questions, I submitted online. I was instructed to fill out a time slot availability for the convenience of the repair person. I then received another call that I would not get my dryer fixed for another week or so. By week 2, I received an email, to call SHW again, or my claim would be dismissed. I called and was told, they would get me a repair person, the lady called a company while I was on the phone and returned to tell me, the answering machine picked and that I should call myself, the next day. I told her I paid more than $500 for the warranty and I would not be making the call. Two days later I received and email, and was told I could find my own repair person and they would pay a preset payment of $100. Needless to say, I paid for the repair myself and I informed them, I would be filing a complaint because, it seems this is common practice, they do not want to complete the complaint process but have the customer do the work, pay the warranty and pay out of pocket for the repair. My husband and I are so disappointed and disgusted with the lack of service, we will not be renewing the contract. Lisa Parker, [protected]

Select Home Warranty Air conditioning

I am disabled I have select home warranty. I called him as soon as I realize the air conditioner was out. I called on the 25th of. November told him the problem asked him to send somebody the person that they said they were going to send was called call Bw and I called and he said oh I would not work for them if you paid me because they owe me $50,000 so then I have to tall back and tell them the one they sent does not want to come out so then they send me Marvin he comes out one week later a week later finds out the problem takes pictures and send it to him. I have to take pictures and send it to him explaining everything, now it’s the 10th tomorrow my air conditioner still not fixed. Select home warranty. Does not care if you’re disabled they don’t care if you pay your premiums, they don’t care about anything with that measly money you give them. They treat disabled people discriminatory and hateful and it’s the same spiel every time we’re waiting on resolution team now I signed out, the pictures and everything I’ve been sitting in a folder two weeks later and never been sent to the correct department. Select Home Warranty I did not renew my warranty contract. They are harassing my family with phone calls to renew.

We had a contract with Select Home Warranty from August 10, 2021 to November 9, 2022. Contract #[protected]. We called the company twice during that period but were told the items were not covered as outlined in the small print of the contract. We did not renew the contract and the company has continued to call me several times a day. Some of the calls start as early as 6am. When I called select to complain, the representative disconnected the call.

Select Home Warranty Refusal to provide service

I purchased a home warranty with SELECT HOME WARRANTY.

November 22, 2022 I opened a claim Claim #: [protected] for an electrician to fix an outlet that is not working.

I received an email telling me to hire a technician and submit a claim.

November 23rd I called them and told them and told them this is NOT acceptable as I purchased a warranty plan which takes care of this for me.

Abdul at Select Home Warranty told me he was escalating, and this would be taken care of, they will provide a technician,

No technician, no follow-up no call.

November 28th I called again. This time I spoke with Nina who again told me she would "escalate" and that the next available technician would be assigned. Same story as with Abdul, they have not technicians and or they are all busy.

Again, no technician, no follow-up and no call.

December 7th I call them again. Now I speak with a woman by the name of "Ross" who again tells me they simply do not have available technicians and that she would again "escalate".

I ask for her to bridge up dispatch at which point I am told they have no access to their dispatch department.

I ask for someone from Corporate and am told the same thing, they cannot speak with corporate aka have no access.

I ask for a supervisor, am put on hold and then told they have no available supervisors. I am told they will call me back however when that will be they are unsure.

The corporate number for these folks [protected] is a fax number.

I am told the entire operation is out of a Sheraton Hotel.

This is a SCAM.

They pretend to provide a home warranty, one stop shop where they secure the technicians etc...

That is a LIE.

They have NO contracts with technicians, they DO NOT provide technicians and reading these reviews it seems they most often do not reimburse customers who secured their own and sent in reimbursement checks.

Desired outcome: Technician to repair my outlet or FULL REFUND. This company is a SCAM.They take your money yet when you need a service DO NOT PROVIDE what was sold /paid for. This is my one and only claim with them, three escalations and NO SERVICE.

Select Home Warranty Payment not received

My furnace, heater, was broken on 11/20/22. SHW sent a technician to my house on 11/25/22, seven days later. He said the system was not fix able and recommended a new one. SHW fund a technicality not to pay.

I then hired my own technician and it cost me $1500 to fix. SHW refuses to pay or cover anything.

They should pay for a new system or reimburse me for fixing it.

They sent some one incompetent and took too long to sent him to my house.

It was 30f and I needed to heat the house ASAP.

Select Home Warranty Policy

Following up on complaint I filed on this website in the past month... three months later and I still haven't received reimbursement check for dishwasher replacement. They told me they mailed the 1st reimbursement check on 10/12/2022 and stopped payment on that check and issued another 10/31/2022. What are the odds that I wouldn't receive two checks they mailed? I called the umpteenth time 11/23/2022 and the agent told me she would stop payment on the second 10/31/2022 check they mailed and issue another. She said I would receive a phone call no later than 11/28/2022 letting me know when I could expect the check. I never received a call and called them again today 11/29/2022 trying to find out status of the reimbursement check. She said no stop payment was issued on 11/23/2022 and that I need to give more time to receive the check they mailed on October 31, that it can take a long time for U.S. mail to be delivered! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! Not wanting to deal with these thieves anymore, I wanted to cancel the contract and get a refund. We bought this $2,000 5-year policy two years ago. I knew I wouldn't see any refund if there was any but was curious what the prorated amount would be. The agent told me there was no pro-rated refund for the policy and if I wanted to cancel the policy, it would be a $75 cancelation fee. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Who in their right mind would pay $75 to cancel anything and not receive a refund? These people are total scammers.

Desired outcome: I desire for Select Home Warranty to go out of business so they can't harm anyone else and from the complaints on this website, they have harmed many. I believe in karma, what goes around, comes around.
