I live in rural Indiana on a fixed income. My dishwasher failed in early January 2026 (around January 8th). Despite filing a legitimate claim, Select Home Warranty has never sent a technician, never provided service, and has left me without a working dishwasher for quite some time.

Pattern: Company uses multiple shell addresses and mail‑drop offices, making it extremely difficult for consumers and regulators to reach a real corporate decision‑maker.
What Happened:
My dishwasher failed in early January.
I filed a claim immediately.
Select Home Warranty repeatedly stalled and refused to send a technician.
They admitted in writing that they had no technician available to service my area.
They refuse to reply in writing to my questions or provide any documentation.
They refuse to provide proof that their assigned technician is “qualified,” even though their own contract requires a qualified technician.
I submitted a formal demand letter.
I filed with the BBB — the case is now posted publicly and marked Unresolved.
I filed with the New Jersey Attorney General — the case is active, but the company continues to ignore all channels.
Meanwhile, they continued charging me monthly premiums for a service they never provided.
Why This Matters:
This is not just a customer service issue. This is a New Jersey company:
taking money from out‑of‑state consumers
refusing to provide contracted services
ignoring regulators
refusing to communicate in writing
refusing to prove their technician is qualified
hiding behind shell addresses
leaving a rural, fixed‑income consumer without an essential appliance
continuing to charge for services never rendered
I have a complete timeline, all emails, the demand letter, the BBB posting, and the AG complaint documentation. I can provide everything.
This is what I sent to BBB as a resolution and Select Home Warranty has not responded in any way. I have been fully responsive and have repeatedly requested written communication. The company has not provided service, has admitted they have no technicians available, and has delayed this claim for over a month. Their statement that they “attempted to contact me to no avail” is inaccurate, as all communication has been documented in writing.
Additionally, the company has repeatedly attempted to circumvent the BBB process by contacting me directly outside the BBB portal and pressuring me to call them. They also sent messages threatening to close my claim if I did not call, despite the BBB’s requirement that all communication remain within this portal. This behavior is inappropriate and undermines the BBB process.
Select Home Warranty has also violated the terms of the contract by failing to provide service within the required time frame per their contract and by admitting they have no technicians available in my area. Their conduct constitutes deceptive business practices and a bait-and-switch scenario: they sold a service they were unable to provide, then attempted to shift responsibility back onto me by telling me to find my own technician.
I submitted a formal demand letter requesting:
Full refund of all premiums paid $1,325 in goodwill compensation due to the extended delay, lack of service, and documented impact on me. The company’s offer of $477.50 does not address or acknowledge my documented demand and does not make me whole.
I am asking for your help to hold this New Jersey company accountable. They have taken my money, refused to provide service, ignored regulators, commited Elder fraud and left me without a working dishwasher for quite some time.No consumer should be put in this position and companies need to be held accountable

Claimed loss: no dishwasher 8 weeks, no idea how much to repair or replace with fees, labor, installation, diagnostics, trip charges

Desired outcome: Make me whole, honor contract and send qualified tech for repair or replacement or refund all premiums paid to date as well as $1325.00 goodwill compensation to cover all real world costs I now face for having to do their job
