Sea Marine Workmanship

I had a very bad experience using Sea Marine to perform bottom painting of my boat. For reference, it is a Bayliner 2452 so not a lot of painting required.

- Initial setting up of an appointment delayed because the person I was working with exited the company without letting me know so the paperwork (contract & insurance forms) were never processed.

- Boat delivered on March 7th and I was told it would be done on March 23rd. I finally got the boat back on May 4th. Other work scheduled with another contractor no longer able to be done due to my appointment missed.

- Wife picked up the boat for me the first time and when I checked it after work, they had not prepped and painted the areas where the support blocks were. Still the old paint and barnacle spots. Had put a 12"scratch in the new paint on the starboard side when loading it on the trailer.

- Took 4 days for them to respond to my emails & phone calls about how it would be fixed. During this whole process, most of my phone calls voice mails were never returned. Very hard to get ahold of.

- Took the boat back for fixing the missed areas. Finally called them to see if it was done since they never inform me even though they say they will. They had run out of the BLUE paint that they originally used and decided to paint the areas missed with BLACK paint. They thought this was OK. Nope, I had them fix it correctly. Another delay.

- Painted my depth finder transducer and stainless steel trim tabs. Not sure why.

- Charged me 5 extra"laydays"for supposedly awaiting parts. This was for a tachometer that needed replacing that they never ordered until I asked about it... long after the boat was already supposed to be done. I even researched the part and sent them the information on what to purchase. They reluctantly removed this charge.

- Never once assisted my wife with loading and unloading the boat. As I was working, she had to help out and did an awesome job!

Needless to say, in my opinion, this was horrible service and I would never take my boat back to them. I would not recommend you do either.

To quote Chris Bakken, the General Manager, in an email he sent me,"You are welcome to your opinion." Yes I am.

Being in the customer service business myself, I am just amazed at how poorly they treated this customer.

Desired outcome: Let other customers understand what they are to expect when dealing with Sea Marine.

Sea Marine Invoiced for work not performed. After reading reviews it seems to be common practice at sea marine.

Sea Marine kept demanding payment and we kept saying there are incorrect charges. Finally after pointing out bogus charges Chris Bakken the manager said, oh we just gave you a quick invoice but were going to call and go thru the the billings with you, but never meant it to be correct. This was my experience. I hope some day they will give me the money they owe us.

I believe the understanding was that Chris presented an invoice upon departure, as he is supposed to do, with the understanding that corrections would likely be needed, but could be corrected upon final invoice. That was our final invoice.
