Samsung potential privacy concerns with new samsung televisions

I am very concerned about some of the "innovations" Samsung is proposing to introduce in its new and future TVs.

Although this problem is not exclusive to TVs, I was planning on buying a top of the line Samsung TV next year, but I will NOT purchase any TV that incorporates bugging devices such as microphones and/or cameras!

I ask myself, who has the most to gain from such "features", and the answer is simple: personal user information merchants, spy agencies, and of course, hackers. So why is Samsung proposing to introduce such Orwellian devices hard wired into their products?

I need a microphone and camera in my TV like I need a hole in my head, and if the TV gets hacked at some stage and my personal information or video footage ends up on the Internet, Samsung will be the first to deny any responsibility for the problem.

Samsung repair service

I am very disappointed with Samsung service. I sent my phone to their repair center three months ago and they haven't fixed my phone yet.
They said that it'll take about 4-5 weeks to fix it, but it is now three months! I contacted them several times and asked how things were going and they replied one and the same thing - they need more time.
How much longer I need to wait?
I am extremely disappointed with Samsung, they are very slow and unprofessional. I expected better service from such a well known company. Recently I sent them a message and asked them to return my phone but they did not reply.

Samsung galaxy note 5

Samsung handsets have been my favourite and only handsets I have bought in many many years which is why I have recommended Samsung phones to my friends, partner and my sister whom are also enjoying the Samsung products. Prior to the note 5 I purchased, the note 2 was the best phone I'd ever owned.
However, all has been well until I purchased my galaxy note 5. I had nothing but issues with the note 5. After only a few months I had to get the motherboard replaced. Soon after that happened I was unable to use the note pad as only one side of the screen would work with the s pen and even then the pen when writing characters would only half write some characters in part and about a 1 cm from where the nib of the s pen touched the screen rendering this function impossible to use. Samsung then sold me a new s pen but that did not remedy the issue.
The phone had never been dropped until just recently when although the phone showed no sign of damage the led had cracked inside causing a blue and purple bleeding so was unable to back up before taking to Samsung to get fixed. After a few days was told assessment for repairs would cost $299 which I consented to in order to fix my phone, this was no issue for me as I was responsible for the damage caused. I waited a few more days then received an email saying now that the phone had water damage and that they were no longer going to fix it yet the phone has never been exposed to any water/moisture in the time I possessed it. I understand that Samsung repairs personnel must hear those claims regularly and although I had dropped my phone a couple of times, I have never exposed my phone to anything that might be wet or damp so this made me very angry especially as I was told the handset would be fixed and water damage wasn't mentioned in the assessment. I now need to buy another phone but I am in two minds weather to buy Samsung again as I don't feel confident in outlaying so much more money for another Samsung handset in fear of it being an unreliable product like my note 5 was. Please find below some ref numbers and two copies of latest correspondence below. I no longer have history of the previous issues but I'm sure Samsung does.
Dear customer, Ref.#[protected]

Kelly email-1Dear customer, Ref.#[protected] Please be advised your Samsung unit has been confirmed to be [Liquid damage]. Your unit will be returned unrepaired. Thank you.
As I feel that I have been such a long time loyal customer I would greatly appreciate either a free Galaxy S8 on release or a significant discount on a purchase.

Samsung 26 cu french door stainless steel refrigerator, 3 door

I have attempted to contact Samsung multiple times with detailed information regarding my concern and never received a follow-up call or email.

During my last attempt on 1/31/17 I was told my complaint was closed out with no reason why I was not contacted. The representative I spoke with simply told me it was out of warrranty and nothing would be done

Concern: The door panel that has my water/ice dispenser has rusted. Not only beneath the area where the water/ice is dispensed but also on the bottom of the panel.

Whether in warranty or not a door panel should not rust. This is an obvious defect in the paint or production of this panel.

Samsung phone galaxy s4

So my phone does an abnormal factory reset, requests a Samsung Account email and password (which we never set up). I call customer service and after approximately 5 calls, the result is... NOTHING. On the last call, after being told to submit proof of purchase, being given a new email and password that does not work, I am told that I have to send them another bill and this time include the IMEI or my request to return the product will be denied!
I understand a company choosing to outsource to save money, but at least 3 calls had individuals with accents so thick that I had to have them repeat almost every sentence. I was rude, not proud of it, and maybe someone on the other end decided to retaliate, but by the 2nd or 3rd call, I was disgusted. We cannot use the phone at all. I hope Samsung really gets it together, this has been the ABSOLUTE WORST customer service experience. Enjoy their products for the most part but would choose a different product if I had it to do all over again.!

Samsung Samsung buy and get promotion

I bought a Samsung washing machine from Makro in December 2015. At the time there was a promotion called the "Buy and Get Promotion". I've repeatedly contacted the Buy and Get team to make a booking and I'm getting no response from them. I've also had no direct response when I posted this on Hello Peter.

I would like Samsung to contact me and honour the promise they made when I purchased my Samsung product.

Samsung 65" smart tv 8500 series

I purchased this TV in March of 2015 so it is exactly 2 years old. The TV will not turn on. It simply makes clicking noises and has a black screen. There are a million videos on line of Samsung having this problem and yet no one is able to assist. A couple of years ago there was a class action for the LED Samsung tvs having this same problem. I will continue to call and get nowhere with Samsung while I go buy a new TV .

Samsung television

So our 2 year old Samsung "Smart TV" has developed a thick black line down the middle of it and Samsung says there's nothing they can do about it because it's out of warranty. Needless to say, I will never be buying Samsung products again unless they do the right thing... We had a thin purple line a couple of weeks ago which turned into a Thick Black line this week, running through the middle of the tv screen. This makes it almost impossible to enjoy any tv shows and we can not see everything on the screen. I was told that this tv is "out of warranty" but it is less than two years old so I think Samsung would want to do the right thing. I wanted to give you the chance to resolve this before I contacted the better business bureau or any other complaint boards. Thank you for your help

Samsung top-load washer

In July 2016 we purchased a Samsung Top-Load washer from Home Depot. a few months saw a report on TV of a Safety Recall of certain Top-Load washers and confirmed the recall included the brand we purchased.
I contacted Samsung Customer Support on 3 occasions and was told there were two options. Request the washer be repaired or purchase a new washer - Samsung or other brand.
I relayed and opted for the second option to purchase a new washer (non- Samsung brand) and the rep instructed me to purchase the new washer and submit the receipt for reimbursement to Samsung. I told the rep this was not possible because I initially purchased the washer and paid for it in full at the time of sale. I asked her to send a check to us so that we may purchase the washer and return the old one to Samsung. The rep relayed this was not an option and I would have to purchase a new washer with my own money and request reimbursement.
I let the rep know that this was unfair and would require that we use our own money ($900) to purchase another washer. I was told I had until May 2017 to make a final decision, as no exceptions would be made.

Be aware, Samsung top loader washer have a major problem. Ours destroyed itself even though we have ALWAYS operated it in a conservative manner, NEVER used spin speed higher than medium. The wash load when it happened was one twin bed mattress cover, that was it. It did sound like an explosion. Fortunately no one was in the laundry room. Damaged the dryer, NOT covered, comedic. damaged the wall, covered the wall, if you get bids from licensed contractors and submit them. You laundry room would be out service for who knows how long. We are rid of Samsung phones, now have iphones, and now the washer and dryer; being replaced by Whirlpool. We will NEVER own Samsung anything in the future. It was not 2 years old. Also had a problem with our dryer, a cracked dryer door cover. Samsung said it was"cosmetic" Home Depot took care of it, thank you Home Depot. if there was a no star rating that is what I would give Samsung. Tried add photo of self destroyed washer but it would not up load. It is on Amazon.

Samsung washer

I am frustrated beyond belief! My washer was one of the recalled washers; I elected to have mine replaced. Before doing so my husband and I called Samsung not once, but twice to make sure the washer and delivery/installation would be covered and was assured it would be. Purchased the washer, had it installed and sent in all neccessary paperwork. My check comes and they did not cover the $70 delivery/installation fee even though it is clearly marked as a separate line item like they requested. Spoke with Samsung rep and she agreed that it should be covered and someone from their "ECR Team" would call me to resolve this. Of course no call so I call again, this time a rep named Karl told me that it would absolutely not be covered which is news to me. After asking to speak to a supervisor six times and being refused by Karl six times he finally put me on hold, came back 30 seconds later and said they were all too busy to speak to me and assured me once again that someone from their "ECR Team" would get back to me. Meanwhile the credit card used to purchase my new Samsung washer is incurring interest until this is resolved.

Samsung washing machine

I have a Samsung washer which broke (water pumped fell off) and flooded my basement. I spent hours cleaning up and had to rip out all of the carpeting because of smell and potential mold. A t the same time I find out this unit is under recall and so I started the whole process as anyone would. Every time you call customer service you get a different person and they don't seem to be up to speed and what was talked about before. Anyway, they did send a service tech to fix and did extend the warranty for another year. The called again and had me submit an estimate and pictures for reimbursement for the damage. I was happy about this and followed their instructions. Needless to say the "ticket" number given to me was cancelled, I had to go through the entire process again only to find out the same thing happened again. Meanwhile, the machine broke again 3 times and they are having to come back again (I just got off the phone with them). I had to again file for the reimbursement and for some reason, their "executive customer service" department can not be reached by phone. They are an "outbound" call center only. The number they always give to call back in general customer service. Absolutely crazy. This company is too big for their own good. I have had good luck in the past with other Samsung products. I own TV's, tablet and more. Never again will I purchase one of their products. I understand things break, things happen and so on but to get the runaround every time and not get the issues resolved is just poor customer service. I don't care if they outsource their call center, it's still Samsung. It's a shame they are willing to loose yet another valuable customer. Costs more to get a new customer than to retain one.

Samsung FlexDuo Range Stove. Model # NE59J7850WS/AC
I cannot and would not recommend this stove or any other Samsung Appliance to anyone. There is so much wrong with this stove that I just don’t know where to begin. But then again you probably wouldn’t believe me anyways. So! How about if I just show you. Samsung samsung refrigerator with water filter

I bought their Refrigerator and they changed the design of their water filter. I ordered water filter after water filter to no avail. I went to Best Buy and they could not help either. The service and support were clueless. Now it sits and I cannot get a glass water from it since the first water expired period. They suck and I will never buy one of their products again. The Refrigerator is Model # RS261MDBP/XAA . The orginal water filter says Mineral Water A4081. The new ones say Fresh Water A5395. They do not fit they changed the design. They cheated me and I will never buy another product from them as long as I live unless the rectify this problem since if they would do it here then they would do it with any product.

Samsung tv sound bar

We purchased A Samsung TV sound bar from Costco.. After about 6 months the remote began working intermittently. I called Samsung and after some testing they agreed to send me a new remote under their warranty.
The remote arrived and did not work. As part of the testing process with the original remote I was told to remove and then reinsert the battery as a way of possibly getting the original remote to work. So I tried this with the new remote and I found it did not include a battery.
I called Samsung and was told the remote did not include a battery. I escalated my question up the line to a Supervisor and was told the same thing.
The original remotes battery compartment was also jammed and could not open so I could not use that battery.
Now here is my complaint, they gave me a new remote under the warranty but it did not and could not work as provided. It was a warranty but it was not a warranty. All this from them for a $5.00 battery. Not a big item but it is the principal.
I found the Costco CEO's email address and wrote him and told him the type of people he was selling products for and how petty and small they were to provide a warranty that was not a warranty. Through him and after several more refusals his staff prevailed and I got another remote with a battery.
Never again will I purchase a Samsung product.

Samsung buy & get promotion is a hoax!

I bought a Samsung fridge in December 2016 because of the Buy&Get promotion. I registered according to their T&C's. I then waited for the sms's from Samsung with the relevant ref numbers for days.
You struggle to get through to Samsung call centre. Always number 2 in the queue. Some agents just hung up when asked to speak to the manager.
I have made it aware every time I speak to the agents that I need to fly on a certain date and they promise me it will be fine. Today COMAIR refuses to assist and refer me back to Samsung.
The person in charge at Samsung refuse to take my call. His name is Michelle - Manager.
The problem is the T&C's that is not accurate.
The T&C's state 4 weeks from day of reference number received but now COMAIR says a different story.

Samsung samsung tablet

I bought a Samsung tablet and everything seemed to be fine, but after one week of using it stopped charging! Every time I tried to charge it my tablet made strange sounds. I thought that maybe something happened with the cable and tried another one but it did not help. I went online and tried to find some kind of solution and tried everything but nothing worked.
I'm very disappointed with Samsung! They ask for that kind of money for their products and they do not stand behind the quality. As I said I used it only for a week and already have to take it to the repair service. Samsung used to be great but that was a long time ago and that's a sad thing. I don't think I'll buy any of their products ever again.
