Dear Consumer Protection BC,
I am writing to seek assistance regarding a defective product and poor customer service I received from RONA.
On June 26, 2026, I purchased a Craftsman 3.0 Gallon, 1/3 HP Air Compressor from RONA. The compressor was used only for light hobby projects at my home and for less than 30 hours. After approximately one month, the compressor stopped working.
On July 27, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m., I visited the RONA Park & Tilford store in North Vancouver to ask for assistance. The customer service representative called the store manager. The manager quickly stated that the store could not help and appeared uninterested in listening to my explanation. I was not offered any guidance or information regarding warranty options and felt dismissed as a customer.
I later visited the RONA store in Burnaby, where an employee was much more helpful. He advised me to contact the manufacturer's customer service department. I called the 1-800 number and was informed that I had to submit a warranty claim online.
While I appreciate the assistance provided by the Burnaby store employee, I believe the customer service I received at the North Vancouver location was unacceptable. I am disappointed by how my concerns were handled, especially given that the product failed after very limited use.
I am requesting information about my consumer rights and any assistance that may be available regarding this matter. I have attached copies of my receipt and other relevant documents.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Moussa
