We arrived at above Donnybrook cottage at the agreed upon time. The cottage was freezing. There were heaters in the lounge and kitchen only, but none in any of the bedrooms.
There was NO toilet paper. We checked in the bathroom vanity and drawers.
There were NO towels. We checked on all the beds in all the bedrooms.
This is obviously totally unsatisfactory.
I messaged the owners to say we have left the cottage as we found it.
I demanded a two night refund to be accredited to my credit card of $420AUD.
They told me to contact booking.com

This is our response as the owners of Riesling and Clare Valley Cottages.

The facts are these:
This guest arrived at the property and sent an aggressive text at 3.57pm stating that the cottage had no toilet paper or towels and no heating in the bedrooms and that she had left. She made no attempt to contact us before leaving.
The cottage had 2 new rolls of toilet paper in the vanity in the bathroom. The guest is mistaken when she asserts there was no toilet paper.
The guest states that there was no soap. There was a bar of Olive Oil soap on the basin and a jar of liquid soap on the spa bath.
There was a towel chair in the main bedroom with towels and face cloths. Apparently, she did not see this and kept referring to no towels “on the beds”.
There is a reverse cycle air conditioner in the kitchen/dining area. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner in the lounge room across from the main bedroom. There is an additional heater in the lounge room. All beds have electric blankets and extra bedding.
The guest made no attempt to contact us and discuss her issues other than by sending aggressive texts and demanding a full refund. She clearly feels that she can bully people to achieve her ends.
We contacted Booking.com and the Customer Service gentleman explained that she could cancel her booking and that we were entitled to take 100% of our money as per our policy with Booking.com. We took 1 night (50%) as a goodwill gesture, which was fair as we were unable to rebook the property. We are out of pocket $210.

We would also point out that we received a rating of 8.6 from Booking.com guests in 2017.
