Sunrun - Complete rip-off

We have a leak on our roof in our master bedroom and water is getting into our covered porch as a direct result of negligence on the part of Sunrun. We had a licensed roofer look at our roof and take pictures. He states that Sunrun never should have cleared our roof for solar panels and that we needed a new roof installed before Sunrun placed the solar...

Sunrun Well, I normally don't write reviews unless I'm upset about something, and I was going to leave a positive review because of the professional

Well, I normally don't write reviews unless I'm upset about something, and I was going to leave a positive review because of the professional installation, and courteousness of the installers, but they made a very big mistake, and now I'm upset! The installers told me that they would have to make a hole in the painted plywood of the inside of my garage, to run the wiring. I figured that there would have to be a hole made, and I understood. But, I made sure I told the installers that this needs to be taken care of ASAP, as I had to move a bunch of stuff out by the breaker box so they can do their thing, and also move a car out of their way. Well, it's been THREE WEEKS, and nothing has happened. Whenever I bug the salesman, he's always like "I'm looking into it", but nothing happens. So, two days ago, when I got the same song and dance, I called up Vivant, and had to pretend that I was a NEW customer, because when I press the prompt for and existing customer, I'm on hold forever! Anyway, the lady I talked to was understanding, and transferred me over to the repair department (which there's no prompt for in the menu). I gave the guy my name, and town, and he found me right away. BUT, he said that there's NO repair order for my property! Apparently, the installation crew that I PLEADED with to move this along ASAP NEVER BOTHERED TO SEND IN THE WORK ORDER! So, he emailed ME the work order, and I had to take pictures of the inside of my garage, and fill it out MYSELF!If that wasn't bad enough, I got a phone call late last week, from someone from Vivant, and he said that he needed to take pictures of something. So, I arranged for him to come over at a predetermined time, when my wife gets home from work. My schedule varies, but hers doesn't. Well, my wife was waiting for this guy to show up, and never came! Of course, the salesman said that it's the first he's hearing about it, and will follow up, but you know what it's like with salesmen from anywhere...their your best friend, but once the job is done, or the car is sold, you're "who" again? The salesman originally told me that there will be something similar to a breaker box cover, with a door, so that could be accessed. We even went to ***, and *** and tried to find just the covers with the doors, but we would have to buy the whole box, and just use the cover. One of the excuses the salesman told me over the phone, was that he'd have them just send me a check for an amount, and I'd put the cover on myself, which I had no problem with, if it would get done sooner! That's why we were looking for the cover ourselves. But of course, I never got that answer either!I'm very upset, as you can tell, and want this situation remedied! I'm not going to be waiting all summer for this to get fixed! I have to leave one of my cars outside all the time, until this gets fixed! It's bad enough that I don't even know when the system will be "turned on", so I can start building up the credits, while it's really sunny out!

was thorough with their proposal the execution of the proposal and did a very competent job of installation. Having done some of my own electrical wiring their installation was a work of art. In the panel boxes wires were run neatly, easy to follow and safety is very obvious. I am very happy with my systems.

Sunrun I wish I could give Vivint solar zero stars

I wish I could give Vivint solar zero stars. Buyer and Renter of Vivint Solar BEWARE!i'm now stuck in a 20 year contract with Vivint after believing what the salesman told me in front of 2 other witnesses and then signing the contract! Live and learn! There are companies like Vivint/Sunrun that have their salesman tell you whatever it takes to get you to bite and them youre stuck! For 20 years, no less! Our salesman, *** said he took my medical discount with my electric company into consideration when calculating if solar would benefit me and decided it would. he used an incorrect amount that my electric company was charging me and so he said solar would benefit me monetarily when it won't!He also promised that my bills from Vivint each month would be 1/3 ofwhat I was paing my electric company. The bills from Vivint have arrived and they are in essence the same as what I was paying my electric company! He lead me to believe I'd be paying for the electricity I was using but after I signed the contract, it showed that I was actually going to have to pay the amount the panels were producing, NOT the amount I was using. So that when I found out I was only using 800 kilowatts in a month, I got charged for ***! That also means that if I go away on vacation for a month and use no electricity, I will still be billed a chunk of money like normally because my panels will still be producing electricity!Vivint sent me an email and note on my ap saying my panels were turned on Jan 1, 2021, but after Jan, Feb and March went by, My electric company sent me a statement showing I owed them $300 for electricity! Vivint also charged me for that same period ($139 plus, $97 plus $34)! They admitted the panels were not actually turned on but they said when that happens, they esimate what they think the panels would have generated and charge me that! I have called several times and they said they would look into whether or not they will give me any money back due to their error and/or possibly a wrong estimation amount but I have yet to hear back! Also, Before I agreed to have solar, I checked with my condo assoc to see when they would be replacing my roof. They said it was due for a replacing but that they were behind. I told my Vivint salesman *** that maybe I should wait on the panels but he said that Vivint would pay for them to be removed and put back on when the roof had to be replaced. I found out later that he did not have that put into the contract and I will now be responsible for the charge to remove and put the panels back on. And, the contract says if it takes my HOA more than 30 days to replace the roof, Vivint will then estimate my panel usage and charge me that amount!Ofcourse I tried to get ahold of my salesman *** and alll signs point to him having left the company. No one answers the cell number he gave me and that he was answering during the sale.!This is a NIGHTMARE! A 20year nightmare!I'd advise everyone to stay away from Vivint AND Sunrun since Sunrun owns Vivint , which happened in the midst of the solar process for me.Please, please, please, don't et this happen to YOU!

The department that was invoicing me had a different email than the department contacting me for panel installations. SUnrun wants to charge me for late payments. I *** as a Vivant lient, and am still charged by them on my cerdit card. Sunrun now has twoo accounts on my residence and no one at their customer service can imagine aht I am talking about. This non-auto pay fee is immoral and probably illegal. We deserve a thorough audit.

Sunrun If I could give "negative stars," I would!

If I could give "negative stars," I would! Where should I start?!The horrible Vivint company has made my life a living hell! They have caused horrible stress and anxiety in an already sorrowful and stressful situation in caring for my Mother, cost excessive amounts of money for a service which was supposed to decrease costs, and wasted many, many hours of my time trying to resolve the issues with their shoddy, fraudulent company.First, their invalid contract (because Mama was not of sound mind,) was made with my elderly Mother who had many mini-strokes which caused severe dementia over the years. She was deceived/bullied into a 20 year contract (of which there is no copy!) and believed the electric bills would be less. Instead, fees remained at least the same amount, but were just divided between SCE and Vivint. In addition, Vivint made another fraudulant contract, and added additional panels which added ANOTHER ***, but did nothing to really decrease the cost! In addition, equipment was very often not functioning- either at all, or correctly, and several times appointments had to be made for technicians to come in to resolve the problems. Many hours were spent setting up and waiting for the appointments. In between appointments, the system woud be shut off, was not functioning, and yet the costs never really changed! The equipment seems to be very, very low-quality, and very inefficient.I stayed with my Mom to help care for her, her animals, and the house (which she had in a reverse mortgage; she used ALL the money, so left none for any probate.) Part of the bills were paid from Mama's account, and part of the bills were paid from mine. I did not have funds to purchase this home after Mama passed on Feb. 1, 2019. I cleared out the home in which Mama had lived nearly 60 years, found new homes for her rescue animals, and had to move. I was out of the residence in May. Vivint continued to deduct funds from the accounts even though Mama was deceased and I was not living in the residence, and do not own the home.I sent not just one, but TWO copies of the death certificate to Vivint. One was sent to their office in ***, and another to their office in Oregon. Also, I sent the information of the company to contact regarding the reverse mortgage on the home. After repeated and very, very lengthy waits on the phone, I informed them of the situation. They stated they had "no record" of Mama's death. I told them I had moved, and I did not own the home, and to stop taking funds from the accounts. After many, many attempts to get any type of customer service, (one day i was over two hours on the phone, being transferred, waiting, transferred again, and waiting, and transferred again and again, until the call was transferred to the original person with whom I had spoken. Seriously?! How very infuriating. It was at this point I realized that Vivint has no desire or inclination to resolve any of the issues, and removed the access to the bank accounts.I sent copies of the statements detailing the amounts of funds that Vivint continued to take from the accounts. I want this money returned to me- about $1,000.00, and for them to handle the situation.I believe that Vivint is also hindering the sale of the home, in an attempt to make me liable for the 20 year contract. I have sent numerous emails, as there has been no resolution by phone, and Vivint stated I should contact them by mail. When I did email them, they did not contact me back. When finally I complained about that, I was sent to another person to contact, and then again, another. I emailed and received no answer for an extended period of time.I hired an attorney, he sent a letter. There was no response from Vivint; rather they again ignored my grievance. I contacted the attorney. Again, he sent a letter- no response. I contacted him again, and still, no response. It has now been more than a month, and Vivint has done NOTHING to resolve any of these issues.I want my money back! I want to have the Vivint people held accountable for the fraudulant contracts with my mother who had dementia. I want them to stop interfering with the sale of the home. I want a written and public apology from Vivint for the horrible stress and anxiety, the panic attacks, and lost hours they have caused me. I want to be able to move on from the grief and sorrow of losing my beloved Mama as she disappeared furthur and furthur away each and every day over the course of many years. I want to be able to let Mama rest in peace, and for me to be able to remember her as she was before her dementia stole her away from me, and we were lost to each other.Grieving with no end in sight

My system is down since 6/2022 and no one seems to care about resolving the issue, I made many phone calls and email customer care and every time they confirming that "someone is going to follow up within 3 business days" and nothing. we are on 1/2023.. they are giving me the run around and no one seems to know what is going on.. I will appreciate if someone at Sunrun takes care of this issue as soon as possible. PLEASE DO NOT BUY/LEASE FROM THIS COMPANY*** look somewhere else.

The company and employees are terrible. Installers left holes in our roof, causing water damage to the inside of our house. Communication is awful. Very unprofessional. Every time I called for an update I was told someone will return your call within 2 business days. Never received a call. As expected it took 5 months before the work was started. However, it's now been 6 weeks since the equipment was installed & the system is still not working. I would never recommend Sun Run. They are worse than *** Airlines.

Sunrun I give this company NO STARS!

I give this company NO STARS! The only bright side about this company is our sales rep for he did all he could in his power to advocate for us. And later to some degree our solar install coordinator, she seemed more responsive. But all of these people aren't decision makers and ultimately weren't in a position to solve our problem. I'm going to lay everything out. Surveyors: sent an initial surveyor and concluded that we didn't need a whole reroof even after signs of shingles granules in the gutters and pouring out of downspouts. I disputed his assessment and requested another *** sent one after 2months which started the add on the delays. Solar Designers: we spent 2-3 months arguing that we needed a main panel upgrade due to its age and relocation based on it being inside a doghouse & next to gas meter. They were adamant that we didn't and our installation will be via a Hawaiian tie. Fast forward 6 months, Solar installers came and weren't able to connect to our main panel because it was in the dog *** wouldn't comply with city code. You maybe asking why wasn't this not caught by their surveyor or design team? Simple, when a company focuses on cost reduction at the expense of qualification & experience, this is the result. Now we have to wait at least an additional month due to their ineptitude. Roof *** showed up at our house telling us they were instructed to replace half the roof. That was sorted out, thank goodness I was there. Mind you on their package, they claim that home owners don't need to be present when this was done. Just imagine if I wasn't here. End of first day, they didn't clean up properly and I had to spend an hour spraying my front porch and driver way because it was filled with roof dirt. They left debris in my neighbors property. On the 2nd day, I came home earlier to find out that they had taken 2 propane tanks without asking permission out of the outdoor heaters and used them to torch our roof. He didn't even apologize but simply said that he'll refill them after they're done as if he was doing me a favor. They didn't refill the tanks as promised when they finished and it took me several phone calls to them & complaining to their supervisor and finally 6 days after they replaced them with filled ones. They unscrewed and took out an old Transite vent pipe structure that is connected to our furnace. I had told them that this had an asbestos pipe inside and asked if they were qualified to handle such hazardous material prior to removal and they said yes. Almost a week later, my wife felt sick suddenly; nausea and throwing up. We thought it was an allergic reaction, food poisoning or Covid which she tested negative. Later that night when I went to close the basement *** few minutes after that CO alarm went off. Then we started to realize that she might be poisoned by CO. PG&E came and confirmed that there was a leak by our furnace flue that was dislodged by movement. Asked if we had anyone working at our house and said roofers and solar panel installers. They told us to call them so they can come rectify the problem. In the process of roofers unscrewing an aging pipe, it jolted our flue duct out of alignment. Also when the roofers came back to verify the problem, one of them unscrewed another Transite pipe in our crawl space. When I sent a video of this to his supervisor, he said that the roofer wasn't aware that it was asbestos which I find it hard to believe because I did state that. They sent an hvac company who refused to work on the furnace flue until and asbestos abatement company takes out the pipe. This is when I realized that the roofers were not qualified and they had tampered with it twice now. Sunrun home upgrade supervisor had the *** to say that our vent was an old system that we should've taken care of a long time ago but Sunrun will handle it out of good faith. His roofers messed up their work and placed me and my family in danger. It's been 2 nights that we don't have heat because PG&E red tagged us, Sunrun is dragging its feet and can't restore heat until next week on Wednesday. A week after they had left, I was still cleaning up debris from the roof replacement that included both small & big pieces of sharp metal flashings. We have toddlers and now I've to worry about them being hurt. We had a CO leak that caused my wife to be violently ill, red tagged by PG&E & caused us to lose heating in this winter, a possibly asbestos contamination at our house that was handled by their roofer who isnt certified to handle asbestos, 6 months delays due to their solar designers and surveyors ineptitude. Now ask yourself if this is a company that you want to hire?

My solar system was connected last week and I couldn't be happier with the company and its' employees. Everyone I dealt with was courteous, efficient, and professional. The whole process was so easy. They handled all of the necessary paperwork, installation, and scheduled all of the required inspections.I recommended Sun Run to friends, relatives, and neighbors without hesitation. It's nice to know that there are companies that place a priority on customer care. Sun Run is a wonderful example.

At the time of installation of our solar panel there was some damage on our roof. The installers did notify us of this condition. If we were informed we could have fixed that problem. Instead we had a leak there and was told later by our swamp cooler service man. Honesty is not one of your installers credentials.

Sunrun I would leave a ZERO star review if possible

I would leave a ZERO star review if possible. Here is the history: May - launch request to have solar panels installed by Vivint/Sunrun. The company came out quite promptly to review our home and property, taking measurements and reviewing the electrical breakout panel. The initial design was completed and "final" inspection was scheduled for about two months later, in July, and when that was completed, the system was denied because we had unknowingly, three layers and even four layers in one area, of roofing shingles, meaning that panels could not be installed. We as recent buyers of this house didn't know that, but having already proceeded through site surveys and the initial design inspection, neither did Vivint/Sunrun - prompting the question, what did they inspect? We were told we couldn't install until we had a replacement roof. December - launch new request for solar system using previously established account information with Vivint/Sunrun. January - contract is signed February - initial electrical inspection and site survey is completed. We were then told by our rep *** that it would be about another week and a half to set-up installation. March - no communications returned from Vivint/Sunrun - emailing and calling multiple times each week, sometimes multiple times daily. April - on April 20, I finally received communication from Vivint/Sunrun that our account was still pending. We would have to wait a little longer, likely 3-5 days, to have the final design sent to the town for review. May - no communications returned from Vivint/Sunrun - emailing and calling multiple times each week, sometimes multiple times daily. June - no communications returned from Vivint/Sunrun - emailing and calling multiple times each week, sometimes multiple times daily. July - no communications returned from Vivint/Sunrun - emailing and calling multiple times each week, sometimes multiple times daily. August - finally we get in touch and hear from a new rep named *** who ultimately tells us that in June, our account was closed due to inactivity and that there was no record of us requesting a solar system since 2018. *** very apologetic, does offer immediate responses all of a sudden, and then by the second week of August, we have new contract terms signed, and news that he has arranged a make-good check payment to cover our electrical costs that have since piled up due to lack of installation. On August 28th, the solar system is installed, but only after me confirming that the installation supervisor was truly with Vivint/Sunrun, because *** had no idea that installation was scheduled. Following installation, the crew supervisor tells us that the next step is to really make sure we constantly call National Grid to make sure they are going to install a net meter. I didn't have anything else to do other than that follow-up according to both the installation supervisor and the account *** alike. September - no communications returned from Vivint/Sunrun - emailing and calling multiple times each week, sometimes multiple times daily. October - October 29th I receive a phone call and email to confirm that we would be having our inspection done between 8am and 4pm (large window) on 11/3. November 3 - The inspection has failed to take place. I am now writing this while still on hold for the majority of what has been a phone call lasting over ONE AND A HALF HOURS. I have received no indication that there was anyone actually scheduled to come out, it took 20 minutes just to locate my account, and it then took the last hour just to determine that indeed they'd have to reschedule the inspection and that I would receive a call in 3 to 5 days. Not 3-5 minutes, Days. This is just the latest in what has been an absolutely embarrassing display of customer service, communication, and actual service provided considering how many other Sunrun/Vivint customers are even in our neighborhood. This is not a supply chain issue, nor an issue about a shortage of employees - it is a problem with their internal processes and how they follow-up with customers. I shouldn't have even continued with Sunrun/Vivint, but here we are. I have a roof full of non-functioning panels, months with no communication, months without inspection, and a strong desire to remove these from my roof and just sell them because I don't think Sunrun/Vivint would care nor follow-up whether the panels were ever even connected. I am constantly put on hold for "3-5 minutes" during any call with customer service, only to be asked to be put on-hold again for, you guessed it, 3-5 minutes. I am going to launch a full-scale complaint with Sunrun/Vivint. How anyone has rated them 4 or 5 stars is beyond me. I cannot describe how frustrated and dissatisfied I am.

Oh my gosh, what a horrible experience!

I am a long time Sun Run client, since about 2009. I never had a reason to contact them except this past month, Apr/May 2025, to ask for information on how to get rid of a birds nest under our panels. Their pricing for the panel fencing was outrageous, so I began to look for another critter guard installer. I just today got approval for my 3rd party company nest removal but I am still waiting for the amount SR will bill me for the inspection FEE. They are no longer in Arizona so I am wondering after 7 requests about the amount this FEE will be, before I proceed, I think using a local solar company would / should be the best thing.

I will finish this comment and add a rating when I have completion of my critter guard installation.

I believe after 6 years of leasing, they can opt to purchase the solar panels. My whole thing is if you want to provide good relations with your customers that pay your wages (us the consumer) you may want to be flexible with this agreement so we can put good reviews on Yelp. But that's not what happen.I sat on the phone for almost 2 hours with no escalation to get this resolved. The two customer care employees were probably sitting at home taking my phone call and could care less on what i was asking. All they said was "I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for waiting"The 2nd *** employee said that a supervisor will call me back when they are available. Still waiting and it's been 6 hours from the phone call.So until this is resolved. I will come on Yelp, Complaintsboard.com, Sunrun, Vivint Solar website and leave bad reviews until someone wants to resolve this.Day 1 is today.yours truly Disgruntled Vivint Solar Panel

Sunrun Two years ago, in 2018, a Vivint sales rep sent out to scour our neighborhood, came to our door numerous times

Two years ago, in 2018,, a Vivint sales rep sent out to scour our neighborhood, came to our door numerous times. We had been contacted by a dozen solar companies in the previous six years we lived in the house. One of the companies did a study of the house and came back saying, "It would not be in your financial interest to go with solar panels because of the way your house is positioned...not enough kw or whatever to justify the expense. So we repeatedly relayed that information to other companies and said "No, thank you!" Vivint was persistent. The sales rep had moved from *** and said he was making Stockton his home. That was a stretch as he was here to complete his sales mission and then vanished. I've found that with other Vivint reps who come canvassing the neighborhood (usually early 20's or so and can't reach them after a week or so. Anyhow, this rep came armed with a study that we let him generate and aided by graphs and such, we sat down with him for a marathon sales session. He told us that we could put up enough panel on the NORTH SIDE of the house to realize a good savings on our PG&E ***. Of course (as others have mentioned), the installation would be free (our roof was in good shape) and Vivint would own the panels and sell us the energy generated by the panels on our home at a much reduced rate from PG&E. I questioned hard because of what the other company had said, AND HE ASSURED ME the savings would be significant. He eventually wore me down and I did something I rarely do, i.e., make a big financial decision without sleeping on it. I go by the adage, "If something sounds too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true." The installation and activation happened quickly (installation two weeks later and activation several more weeks later). I am VERY dissatisfied with the arrangement. I've been tracking now for two years and comparing those bills with pre-Vivant PG&E bills. I can't express how disheartening and maddening the results are. Some months we are saving a little and some months we are paying more than we did pre-Vivint. The kicker is the "True-Up" which we are just paying to this year...it's $452.40. In the last month I've had two Vivint sales reps (again early 20-somethings) working our neighborhood stop to visit and, of course, sell. This time I was armed with my research and challenged them hard. They said they were disappointed with my True-Up costs and wanted to sell me more panels to "lower my costs." They took my information and actually did a credit check if you can imagine without telling me that's what they were doing. One of them, *** stopped by the next day or two and said, "They didn't think they could install more panels." Really Vivint was not looking to save me money at all. They wanted to make more profit and stick me with a second *** a long term lease where they have all the power. PROFITS OVER PEOPLE, PERIOD. I said I didn't want them anyhow...what I would really like is to buy the panels and be done with it. He said he would contact his manager and get him to help me. No contact followed. I texted *** twice and no response. Radio silence. Another 20-something Vivint rep came about 3 wks-1 month later. He wanted to help us too as he "understood" my frustration with having to pay such a high True-Up. When I explained to him that I really wanted to purchase the panels outright and that waiting 6 years was too long...that we might be moving and selling the house before then, he said he would get his manager to come the next day. We made an arrangement for after 4:00 the following day. No show. No communication. As an aside, I was having issues with our Vivint Home Security system and he was going to have someone follow-up with that. Nothing. So, I called Vivint and talked to 3 people. I refused to take "no" for a scripted answer from the first two and finally spoke to *** (a supervisor/manager). *** listened as they are trained to do..."Uh-huh...Uh-huh...I can sure understand" as I laid out for him what had happened and promising unfulfilled. He gave me the party/contract line that I could not buy the panels outright before six years and they could not even give me an estimate of the buyout total until 3 months before the six year anniversary of the contract. I told him that we might be moving well before we get to six years and we staying with the arrangement would be a big deterrent to a potential buyer. I said I wanted to eat the cost and purchase the panels just to remove barriers to selling the house. He said, "I understand but no can do until six years." After protesting again (and reminding him of the false promises), he said, "Okay, there's one thing we can do." He said they could calculate the power generated by the panels over the next 18 years and *** me for that. That way, a buyer of the house would have no bills from Vivint and could use the power from the panels for electricity. But, at the end of the 20 years, the panels would still be owned by Vivint. It was incredulous. Can you believe the gouging? I told him so but that I would expect nothing less than that based on my experience with the company. But, I said, send me that calculation. He said, "Sure, I'll have it sent to your email in *** minutes." He then double checked our email address. Here we are a day later and nothing has been sent. Again, why would I be surprised. If I have learned anything in leadership and management it is DWYSYGTD (Do what you say you are going to do!).Please, please beware of this company. Let this be a cautionary tale. I will tell all my neighbors and friends to spare them pain and aggravation. When I checked yesterday, Vivint has 10 solar companies rated ahead of it in *** by Best Companies...and that is for a reason. Do your homework. Do not take their word for it. So sad they would not work with me.

Sunrun and I am a 78 year old retired high school teacher

and I am a 78 year old retired high school teacher. I would like to detail to you the events of the last 7 months while attempting to have Vivint Solar add additional panels to my Sun Run solar system. My Sun Run was installed, inspected, and turned on in July and worked fine. The sales rep at Vivint told me that I didnt have enough panels to generate the electricity I was using. I agreed to have additional panels installed on my roof to increase the solar generating of electricity. I signed the contract in February and the installation was scheduled for *** On or about May second, I was told the installation date would be May 18. On May 11 several men came to my door and told me they were here to install my solar. I was told to open my garage. I questioned him as this was not the day I was told. He said something to the effect that today is they day they are here. I opened the garage, and he told me I had to move the shelves off the wall, take the tool cabinet down and remove the tool bench as they were going to run a 13 to 18 foot conduit pipe in my garage. I said I couldnt physically do that in a half and hour and no one said I was to have a pipe in my garage. He said either it gets done or they wont install. Well that was simple, I said it isnt going to happen and they left. Fine with me. I spoke to the sales *** apologized and said they were contracted workers. He would set up a new date (what happened to the original date?) and asked to do it Thursday. Thursdays are the one day in the week nothing but nothing can be done here. I had explained that several times and said lets go with the original date. Evidently that couldnt be done. We settled on Saturday. The installers came, and that is when everything went down hill. They were here all day and got everything put on the roof and all equipment installed (without an 18 foot pipe in the garage). They left saying that the hole in the box will be fixed and they will turn in the paperwork. Well, for the next week and a half my Sunrun solar panels generated no electricity. When I called for service the customer service rep said at least 7 days before a tech can be out. In the meantime my sales rep dropped by and said Opps they forgot to turn on the panels when they disconnected them. He switched them on. Okay but that was still multiple days without electric generation. When the tech came there was another issue. Two or three wires were in the wrong place so my Sunrun was at half generation (which is shown by my readings for the Month of *** is worrisome that the installers left with a hole in the box, the operating system turned off, and wires incorrectly installed. Then I waited. I was told that the City of *** takes a long time to approve. I was also told that because I was so patient I would get some compensation as well as my True Up would be taken care of and the extra electricity I generated because I used my AC would be taken care of. I waited. Finally in July I called the City of ***. Basically what they said was that they had no request for an inspection and they would send out the inspector tomorrow. Well *** came and was delightful, but since no one here was from Vivint , he couldnt do anything. We set up another time. This time the Sales rep came, and the inspector said he need a tech with tools. Then we waited. The scheduling department set up a Monday (I believe August 9) between 8 and 11 for an entirely different matter which was to change the incorrect breaker. I cleared my Monday and waited. And waited. At 10 I received a call saying the tech couldnt come and they will reschedule. Needless to say, I was less than thrilled by the customer service. Next I get a call saying they could do it the following Thursday. I have told 6 different people that Thursday is not available ever. Period. So she said the following Tuesday. Okay so Friday a tech shows up and wants to swap my breaker out. (Not Tuesday but Friday). He does, we discuss the confusion and he texts the scheduling department to say it is done. Tuesday another tech showed up to change the breaker. Evidently the scheduler failed to tell him it was done. We have a nice chat, he looks at the system, and leaves. A few days later two guys show up, to take pictures of the system. Now the two techs took pictures, the installers took pictures, the rep took pictures, but they are here to take pictures. That was a Wednesday. I was told PGE was the delay for now. I dont remember the system passing City inspection but was told it did. I called PGE and was told that there was no request for a *** or whatever it is called, so I called the *** the meantime I get a call that a tech will be there for city inspector. What? It hadnt passed. Okay. The tech shows up; we fail. Fortunately the city inspector is a good guy and he came back the next day and passed it when the tech fixed what was wrong. (By the way it is now in September.) The rep comes to my house, and I call PGE and have him listen, and once again PGE says without reservation that they had one request for this address and it was for July , and it was approved in July, that was for my original Sunrun panels. The rep said, no way, they must have lost it At that time, September there was no PGE request to complete at this house. That is according to PGE. Then I got a nice note from Vivint saying that my system passed city inspection (3 months after installation and my calling the city rather than Vivint to get it started) and corporate will review the paper work which can take up to 40 days. Still no PGE approval. Forty days beyond the three and a half months we already waited. There are other things, but the reason I have documented and told you this story, was during this time I signed a contract saying I would install solar on the roof of my rental house next door.I don't know what to do to get out of it, but I will try. This has been a nightmare.

Sunrun PV system with 2 solar edge batteries.

We are leasing a new PV system from Sun Run. There are discrepancies regarding the PTO date. MECO says it is 12/22/23. We were led to believe we were leasing a system that would cover the household electric needs 24/7 except for cloudy days. Now we are told by customer service that the system covers on a good day electric up to 8:30 pm and starts working again at 7:30 am leaving the family to pull from the grid each night from 8:30 pm to 7:30 am. My son with his growing family paid over $600 with the bill of $216 from MECO and $365 from Sun Run. They were out of town 2 of the weeks with only a dog sitter there sometimes. We can't pay for a system that does not cover the household electricity needs. Can we have it removed please? Please help us.

Desired outcome: Remove system or ensure it covers electricity needs except for cloudy days.

We signed a contract in 2014 for solar panels. The company at that time was named Vivint. We are leasing the panels with a 20 year contract that increases in cost a little each year. Three years ago I signed up with sunrun to put panels on my garage & house I was to pay about $192. Per month for 25 years. When it came time to install the panels I was told my roof on the house was too steep & they could only do the garage. I thought my monthly payment would go down but it never changed. After about 12 months I received an electric bill...

Sunrun Roof Repair

I am in process of selling my home. On October 10th it was discovered during home inspection that there was a small leak in the roof due to solar installation. The leak was small enough that it never made it through to my ceiling, but a leak none the less. The buyers wanted the leak taken care of by SunRun before closing which was set for November 7th. I filed for a repair and was given a date of November 13th for repair. Despite my efforts to get an earlier date to which I was told that was the earliest and confirm or lose it, I moved my closing date to November 15th in order accommodate. Now, on November 8th I got an email telling me my date was moved to November 22 and again, take it or leave it. At this point, the sale of my house is at risk. I guarantee if I look around there are technicians installing panels in my area, but no one available for repair until November 22. It is just unacceptable.

Claimed loss: At least, extending the time until my house closing, costing me additional bills for maintaining 2 homes and at the worst, the sale could fall through.

Desired outcome: My originally scheduled date of repair- November 13th.

Sunrun Solar

I was sent a email stating my complaint was resolved. My solar is still not function correctly. My complaint is not resolved. I have not received a call or email from the company.

I guess the only response I will get is the automatic response from the compliant that was sent a few weeks ago.

I continue to incur a true up bill and pay for the solar that is not working.

Desired outcome: Fix the issue

Sunrun replacement of 1/2 of my system.

Since late in February my system was removed in order to redo my roof . they came after to replace my system , 1/2 0f the sections was replaced but they report a problem with the way they installed the roof and the personnel states that they have to redo the pictures in order to continue with the placement of the rest .

So finally after many phone calls and complaints, a gentleman came here on 5/9/2023 to take the pictures. He reports there is no question, the pictures are taken and the company will come to replace the rest of the panels in no time. I have been calling the Sunrun office many times, give different managers but so far nothing is happening. My last call was yesterday with no answer .

I have enough and I want to know what is going on.

Sunrun Solar System customer service

I have been waiting for almost 8 months to get one of my inverters replaced. System is running half of guaranteed output.

I receive no updates and when we call we are just told sorry and still not given an ETA. This has just become stupid to have to wait this long for a replacement.

I have been seeing advertisements about how great their customer service is. What a joke.

Of course during this whole process they are still getting their monthly payment.

Just to note 1 unit was already replaced and even though they are supposed to be monitoring the system I had to notify them this time and the first time that there was a problem.

Desired outcome: First I would like the inverter to get replaced.I want a credit for all of the energy it has not produced under the guaranteed amount for this whole period.

Sunrun solar bill

Do not sign up with Sunrun. They are a predatory company and will lie every step of the way. Their customer service line is totally useless. For instance, I was on the recorded line with them for over an hour trying to resolve why our online payment was still not credited. I had to make the payment manually because their auto pay didn't work properly. It's still showing after making the payment manually that the billed amount is still due. Any other company will show that you've paid. It's just ridiculous dealing with these incompetent folks. In addition, your energy bills will actually be the same or even more after having their solar panels on your roof. There will be no savings. They are making money off of you and you will be stuck paying each month to two companies (Sunrun and your energy carrier). Had the panels for 10 years and wish we could have them removed. It was a total ripoff.

Desired outcome: Finally credit our account for payment made to Sunrun.

Sunrun My wife and I purchased our home 7 months ago the solar panel system was already installed on the roof

My wife and I purchased our home 7 months ago the solar panel system was already installed on the roof. Sunrun certified that the roof was good and new. Sunrun certified the roof for 10 years. That certification gave us confidence to purchase the home. Upon our first heavy rain, we had several extremely bad leaks. Water was just pouring in 3 different locations inside our home. Shocked I called Sunrun. Sunrun said they would send a technician out. several weeks went by and more rains occurred. I removed the dry wall in the affected areas inside our home to remove the soaking wet insulation. When Mr. *** the Sunrun Field Service Technician came out,(almost a month after my request) he was shocked at the amount of water damage that had occurred. Mr *** went up on the roof to insect the affected areas. Mr *** came down from the roof then looked in the attic. Upon completion of his inspection, Mr *** explained to my wife and I that all of the flashing was missing and the roof was not properly inspected at the time of the roof certification. Mr. said that he was then new Field service representative and main superintendent and he replaced the former superintendent. Mr. stated the the former superintendent was fired for multiple bad certifications to other homes. Mr. said he would go back to his office and report his findings, and we should not be worried .Well over a month went by and more heavey rains occurred, but we had no response from Sunrun. I continued to call Sunrune and left 7 messages over the course of several more months. Now to this day we have never had our solar system turned on. Mr *** explained that it would not be safe to use. we have never had the system up, it was off upon the closing of escrow and has never been turned on to date. After many calls to Sunrun, all of which I was made to re- explain the problem to the phone representatives every time. ( very frustrating). I finally received a Call back from Mr. and was told the Sunrun wasn't going to do anything. Shocked, I then asked if they could remove the solar panels on the affected areas of our roof so I could have the roof repaired. Mr *** stated that Sunrun must charge us approx. $1,800.00 to remove and replace the solar panels. To this day 3/23, 9 months later I have not had the use of my panels and I have not been able fully repair my roof as well as have use of our living room and 2 bedrooms. We have continued to receive a monthly bill from Sunrun and we been threatened with letters by sunrun to be placed in collection. and I ( Quote) damage our credit.

I purchased solar from Sunrun with the a contract that purchased the system and the install from them. The system was installed as expected but when the *** inspected the system, there were finding with the install. I have tried multiple times to contact Sunrun to understand the the next steps were to get the system online but my customer service rep continues to not have a answer to my questions. They have also set dates for inspections and I had to have people miss work to be on site just for Sunrun to not show up or call in advance. I have emails documenting false promises from Sunrun and them continuously miss deadlines time after time. I financed my system and I am now paying my monthly payments towards my solar system however not being able to use it because of the installation has not been approved by the city. Sunrun's lack of follow up and professionalism has now put me in a place where I have to pay my monthly bill for the system but not be able to use it.

When the system was installed, the Sunrun representative stated that the battery would last overnight and then recharge the next day. In fact, the battery lasted approximately two hours, and then ultimately failed entirely within two years. Sunrun then replaced it. About a year later, I received a call from a Sunrun representative who said that the battery was still not working correctly and they would replace it again. They never did. In addition, the electricity in our kitchen began to short out on a regular basis after the panels were installed, and two electricians stated that it would require rewiring.

On October 21, 2022, one of the circuit boxes installed by Sunrun caught on fire and filled our house with toxic smoke. DWP (our local utility) came out and said that the solar system was unsafe but the representative said that he could not disconnect it. A Sunrun representative arrived an hour later, shut down the entire system, and disconnected the four circuits which were connected to the battery. The shorting problem in our kitchen immediately resolved. However, we began to experience periodic outages in one of the circuits which had previously been connected to the battery.

On November 10, a Sunrun representative, examined the system and said that it was installed totally wrong, that the box which caught on fire had been miswired and had four times the maximum current it could handle running to it. He said that the box, which was made by Generac, was meant for a generator and not a solar system. He said the entire system had to be replaced. He said that Sunrun was aware that certain batteries like mine sometimes failed, and that the Tesla batteries were much better.

On January 2 (a holiday), one of the circuits previously connected to the problematic battery, which included our heater, failed completely. We were required to buy space heaters to stay warm; the low that day was 45 degrees.

On Thursday, 1/12/22 I called Sunrun to find out if my solar panels were working properly and also to inquire about adding panels. This was due to my electric bill being approx $800 last month. I was informed that my system was in proper working order and that Sunrun monitors any equipment issues. My Sunrun app also said that there were no issues. On Monday, January 16 I called Sunrun back to request information on ending my 20 year agreement with them (initially agreed to in 2014 with Vivint Solar -bought out by Sunrun). On Tuesday, January 17 I was surprised to get a call from local company *** to say that they were sent by Sunrun to repair 11 solar panels what were not working for a while and that I mightve noticed my power bill going up recently.I would like to explore my options to terminate my agreement with Sunrun due to this intentional negligence and their lies about the status of my equipment. So far the only option they provide is to buy out the system for $38,000 (was installed 9 years ago).

Sunrun was aware that our solar equipment was malfunctioning before we finalized the purchase of our house, yet they failed to disclose this information to us. We only discovered the issue when we received a bill indicating no new solar energy production. After we brought this to their attention, they had to postpone the scheduled repair appointment twice; on the first occasion, the technician neither called nor appeared. When I sought to obtain a refund or credit for the two bills I had paid without receiving any service, I was informed that I would have to wait until the equipment was repaired before initiating the refund process. Upon review, I was further informed that I was ineligible for the credit at that time because the previous owner had already been compensated before I purchased the property, which I found to be absolutely unacceptable. Later, I was assured that my case would be re-evaluated to determine if I could receive the credit sooner, but after a few days, they contacted me to say that I was only entitled to a $9 refund, despite having paid for two full bills. Repeated requests to speak with a supervisor were met with the same response, indicating that the supervisor would only reiterate what had already been told to me, which was a clear example of poor customer service. It was only after I insisted on receiving a full refund that the representative suddenly managed to secure the full amount as a credit for me. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the entire ordeal and my sole desire now is to be released from the contract.
