Having dispute with Sunrun regarding the performance of my newly installed solar energy system. The core issue is that the system is underperforming due to installation and failing to meet the promised energy offset, leading to higher-than-expected utility bills and an additional solar bill. Timeline and Key Dates: September 27, 2024: The Sunrun Agreement was signed. March 27, 2025: The system was activated and commissioned (In-Service Date) without notice. June 21, 2025: Notified Sunrun regarding April, May and June electrical bills. September 28–29, 2025: Outage occurred; breaker replaced the next day. October 16–20, 2025: Outage occurred; I had to request a temporary breaker on the 17th until the permanent fix on the 20th. October 20, 2025: A technician visited the home, identified a damaged 70-amp feeder breaker, and replaced it. Design Flaw (Incorrect Property): The system design was based on an incorrect house model that lacked a suitable west-facing roof. This is a fundamental error, as a proper design should account for the actual property to ensure optimal sun exposure. Insufficient & Unbalanced Production: The system consistently underproduces relative to the promised energy offset estimates. The system produces energy in a single, short burst in the morning, which doesn't align with afternoon/evening peak usage. There is little to no production in the afternoon. This results in excess power being sent back to the grid for minimal credit in the morning, and forces the household to purchase expensive electricity from the utility company in the afternoon and evening. Battery Misuse: The Powerwall battery is being drained prematurely during peak evening hours to cover the household's usage because the solar panels are no longer generating power due to their poor orientation. The sales rep promised a 100% coverage of my electricity. Sunrun is offering me $1,294.34 to keep quiet about their design and wants me to sign a general release waiver.
Claimed loss: Additional electricity bill(1,294.34). Production of electrical usage.
Desired outcome: 6 additional panels on the West facing roof and compensation of my electrical bill for the year.
