Remitly Double charging ! Be careful being overdraft!

I initiated a transfer of $300 in 10/09 and they charged me $300 on my bank account, which is fine. On 10/11 the transfer was not successful. The system told me there is something needs my attention in my account. I went to the app and click cancel transaction.

Now comes the surprise. When I logged in my bank account, I saw it was charged for $300 again! Yes, a total $600 charge for a failed $300 transfer! I have no idea what the second charge on 10/11 is for? For canceling the transaction?! The double charging almost overdraft my account!

I called the customer service to get it back. I was told that I need to upload the bank statement. OK, you know most the banks (including mine) issue the statement at the end of each month, and they were asking something that don’t even exist yet. Asked whether I can provide the screenshot and get rejected. Now they can withhold my fund for another half a month.

Very bad experience with Remitly. Unethical double charging just to keep you fund longer for interest. Customer support is not helpful at all. (I was told because they work from home so they don’t have a manager to transfer me to.)

Remitly Do not use Remitly

Please don't use Remitly if you want a smooth transaction. They claim that the money will be available on a particular day but it's not the case. Also on cancellation, it takes 10 business days for your money to be back to your bank account. They have mentioned on the website that if you cancel a transaction within 24 hours, no money will be deducted from your account. However when I did so because I was getting a far more better rate on Xoom, they deducted my money from the bank 3 days after I had already canceled the transaction (within 24hours). When I contacted the customer care, they were rude and non-cooperative and brushed away my concerns. The amount I was sending was not small but in thousands and it mattered to me that my funds reached on time. Now I'm left with no option but to wait for another 10 business days to transfer my money.

I was so disappointed that I immediately uninstalled the app and decided never to use Remitly again.

Advice to Remitly: The customer service is the worst. Please help your loyal customers or else all the other money transfer services that give better rates and smoother transfers will soon take over.

Remitly Don’t use. Beware. Shady practices

They had a problem completing my transactions. They blamed the bank. The bank stated it was not them. The Remitly Supervisor said he would honor my original rate. The call dropped, I called back. They did not honor the rate.

Remitly after leaving a negative review contacted me. They stated they wanted to help resolve my issue. They don’t want the negative attention. At first it seemed like they were going to honor there commitments. I try to proceed two transactions. I’m asked to verify identity. The most ridiculous process to transfer 1500 us. They asked for bank statements in full and asked questions like a Customs screening. I am verified and told to go ahead and process my transactions. One goes through. The 2nd is delayed according to a Remitly email due to the partner bank working slow. I receive an email today stating the transactions was canceled due to activity on my account. So vague no real answer. The money was taken from my account three days ago. They stated I will have it back in 5 business days. I have learned my lesson. Don’t use Remitly. They seem very shady and don’t honor there commitments. I will go back to using xoom.

Remitly Where is the money?

I made 3 transactions on May 8, for 3 diferent people, in 3 different bank and no one receive the money !
It’s being 8 busines day that I reach then. The people that I send the money don’t receive anything yet, and Remitly people don’t have a answer.

First time they ask for 2-3 business day to reach the bank, and see what it’s going on.
No one calls me or send a email.
So before 3 business day I talk to then AGAIN and they ask for MORE 5 business day To reach the Bank... ‍♀️
And now May 20, I was talk to Rafiq S, that simply finish the chat! And don’t give me a answer!
I try again, and Frank B says that my transaction it’s complete. And he can’t not made a refund.
And ask me for MORE 2 days to reach the bank!‍♀️‍♀️
I need a intervention! Because this is totally wrong!
I will never use these app again!
I already send the bank statement, for the people I made the transactions, and this is so uncomfortable!
I know that it’s not to much money, but it’s all I have and everything my family’s need! My grandma broke her leg on May 07, and need to made a surgery... because the money it’s not where it suppost to be, my grandma it’s in home, with a lot of pain!

I’m so frustrated!

Remitly HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Please, please, PLEASE. Do not use remitly. I had use the app some time ago and had activated my account. Everything was fine and I was able to do transactions without a problem. I tried to do a transaction like a week ago and was told my account was locked and had to contact customer service which I did but they could not do anything for me. They suspended my account without a reason and when asked about it, the person on the phone kept on telling me she could not do anything about it and my account would be permanently suspended. When asked why, she could not tell me anything because “of your protection.” ? What does that even mean? How can you not tell me the reason for suspending my account and on top of that tell me its because of MY PROTECTION. This was a very unprofessional way of handling the situation on their part. The customer service agent kept on telling me that if I wanted to get an answer as to why my account was suspended, I needed to read the user agreement which did not answer any of my questions. WHAT A HORRIBLE APP AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have been reading some of the reviews, and this is a reoccurring issue that needs to be addressed! PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS APP.

Remitly Do Not Use! Waste Of Time! Use Xoom!

I would give this 0 stars!

I was recommended this app by my mom. She watched the advertisement in the morning. I saw the exchange rates which were great; I filled out all the information processed my transfer. 2 days later I get an email to verify information. I call during my lunch, they bombard me with person question...why are you sending money? Who is the person your sending? Why sooo much money? Also I needed to submit a copy of my bank statement to prove my account was joint since I did say it was a joint account.

It took a me a couple days to get the statement. I finally submitted it online and was told in an hour I would see a response. At the end of my work day no update was given. I called customer care and was bombarded by more questions. She dared to ask me if I was put up to send money. She kept asking me to state my name and if i was lying. Do I have to explain why I can speak English? Then I get an email that my transaction was canceled. I was soooo upset, this was a family emergency! I was patient to let’s all these days pass to get canceled for suspicious activity. I called to find out why and they read me the agreement and I hung up.

I went to Xoom and my money was sent in less than 24 hours with no questions asked. What a waste of time. Do not use this App!

Remitly Holding onto my funds for since 18th may 2023

I transferred fund to my sister in Australia on 18th may 2023 using remitly’s express service. She was in urgent need of fund for her fee which was due on 23rd of may 2023. Remitly first held the funds until 23rd of may I called them time and again to resolve and they kept on saying its commonwealth bank in Aus holding funds and when I escalated it to a manager they started showing the funds as delivered. I called back informing that its not a true story she hasn't received anything. To which they said we will escalate it will take 3 business days and they have been doing same thing every time I call they say we are going to escalate this and its 1st of June now still they haven’t done anything. And telling me same story we will escalate. Who is responsible for the financial loses me and my sister went through. They are just fraud and scamming people.

Desired outcome: I want my money back and I want them to compensate for my time, stress and financial loses I incurred due to their incompetencies

Remitly Payment not received

There are 2 transactions sent to Spain with remitly transfer numbers

R5770708294 and R59622099352 sent on Feb 05 and Feb 07 2023

Both were sent Banco Santander in Spain.

Banco Santander keep requesting the Swift number or any proof that they received the money.

I have already called 7 Times to the customer service and always the same response, your problem have been scaleted but no solution so far.

After 2 weeks no response yet.

Desired outcome: Money to be returned to my account or to be delivery

I have had a similar experience. I sent money through Remitly deposited to a bank in Canada (CIBC). Two chat conversations with their agents confirmed I have entered the right bank account number. However, they said that it will take another 7 days for them to investigate what happened to the money I deposited through Remitly. On January 23rd, they sent me an email that the money was deposited. On another date, came an email saying the money I deposited will be available to my recipient by January 28th. Used to be, Remitly is quick to refund money that is not received or they do not charge you until the money is deposited. This is very disappointing both on my part as the sender and most of all on the part of the recipient. I hope and pray that Remitly will stand by its reputation. I hope they will not block my account as one customer has mentioned.

Remitly Money transfers

Fraud transactions happened in my remitly account between dates of july 5th to 25th july 2022, total of 12 transactions. I contacted remitly customer service, they did not provide me refund or any sastifactory reponse and they locked my account without any reason. Then i contacted my bank and i filled a complaint, investigation happened one month and they told me to contact remitly, as they cant do anything. i am suffering from this from last 4-5 months. Please pay attention to my complaint.

Remitly Swift transfer

My name is Rodolfo Lizardo

On 10/16/22 I tranfered $850 USD to my cuusin in Dominican Republic tranfer # R82384700263 by 10/17/22 8:13 am est it showed recieved be reciever yet it had not been deposited. My cousin Daltoom Lizardo called is bank and they stated they showed no deposit nor any funds in transit but that international swift tranfers can take up to 3 business days to recieve the 17th was a monday and by friday the 21st the funds still where unavalable I called remitly and for 3 days theyd been running me around with the escuse that the funds had reached its destination and the problem was with the recieving bank I explained this to my cousin and he went personaly to his bank wich is banco Popular. Thiere he called me with the general mannager explaining to me that remitly is not partnered with them thats why they cant even see the transaction that remitly has an intermediate banc that recieves the funds and then deposits it in the popular bank account. I called and the rep was suprised by hearing that I now new this information and could not use the escuse that it was the recieving banks fault so he requested I send a bank statment of the recpient wich I did that same night on 10/21/22 and explained that they would send an email requesting for the transfer to be canceled and I reimbursed. I have been calling every day ever since and yet to see my money on my last call on 10/28/22 I requested a superviser they said one would call within 3 hours wich I am still waiting for the call. I need help with this situation.

Me too, yesterday. 477 Euro. I managed to block the transaction from my bank to remitly. Will it hold? It's new year's eve. 2 more national holidays to come. These Ukrainian scammers are b@st@rds! 2 minutes, from the transaction to picking it up. You know what? It seems like an inside job to me. There is no way they have hijacked my computer. Impossible. On top of it, I'm on a VPN. And while it happened, I was sitting behind my computer, programming. No way, they broke into my computer. Remitly have to kick out any worker who has anything remotely to do with Ukraine!

Remitly Money transfer

Complete joke, I provided more legal documents (live photo of passport, drivers license) and current bank statement, and that wasn't enough for identity verification... They called me several times and asked inane questions about my life that had nothing to do with the transfer, etc...

Dont waste your time with this pathetic excuse of a company... Totally unprofessional, completely sub-standard, and likely just a scam to acquire your legal information

Buyer beware, you"ve been warned!

Dont use remittly, what a sad joke ;- (

Remitly I used this company for 2 years.

I have sent money to the same person for 2 years. Four days ago I tried to send 75.00 to her. I immediately got a phone call asking who this person was. I told him the same person I always do. He then ask what the money was for. I said whatever she wants to buy with it. Wrong answer, the man said! I then said for food. Today they wanted information off my debit card. No way am I giving that to a company like this. So after them saying they were still investigating me, enough is enough. I cancel the transaction tonight. I will cancel my account with them after the money is returned to my account. I have used this company many times with no problems. OI will never use this company again. I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau. Something is wrong with the way they are treating lpong time customers

remitly is nothing but a scam company they blocked my account and when i talk to a person at their help line he was nothing but rude and a [censored] could barely speak any english and would not answer why is was blocked, i have sent letters to home office and have never received anything from them telling me anything i have contacted the BBB here and also reported them to the office of finance here in the state to get them removed from doing business here. Remitly Delayed transaction

I have had sent money yesterday by Remitly under the reference number R74190645819 on 24/05/22.I was informed the recipient will receive the money on the same day. But unfortunately the transaction has not gone through even on next day .I am very disappointed by using your service. I hope you will solve the matter urgently. Remitly I am complaining about the money I sent is not delivered to the recipient

I sent money for displaced people due to war in Ethiopia on April 9th and 12th. The money is not delivered the recipient. here are the reference numbers R35130961006 and R18397393863.

I sent an email twice. And I have been calling the customer service since the 15th of April almost for 3 weeks now without my issue is resolved.

1st, I called and left my number for call back. One of the customer service representative called, but when the phone was disconnected, he never called back; he took the my phone number just to fulfill the protocol not to serve the customer.

2nd, I called again, and reached the customer representative after 10 or 15 minutes and it was disconnected again, I don't know if they disconnected it on purpose; again never called.

3rd, I called for the 3rd time, and first the automated system expressed the estimated wait time was one hour and 20 minutes. With previous customer representative, I requested to speak with a supervisor; therefore, I was purposely left on automated system, neglected. In addition, my waiting time increased from 1 hour and 20 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes. each time the automated system announced the waiting time, it continue increase, because someone was reassigning my call. All activities was recorded.

Now, don't think I don't have a power and don't do anything. If the company can't solve the issue peacefully, I can go to the media and expose what this company is doing to the customer. Report BBB and more to legal action and so on. I have been patience noticed. However, Remitly is playing a Game with poor customer service.

Please resolve the issue as soon as possible.

How they may not respond 3 month, if Remitly send request. I think Remitly is illegal organization, so they did not responding. Hi there I make one payment from Uk to pakistan its near about £236 date 1 September 2021, they cancelled transaction not send money in Pakistan, and not sending me back as well .Amount is not delivered to client or not refund, If i contact help center they say send your bank statement from which account you make payment, i sent After this say wait 2 business days i wait money come back, After this say again wait 24 hr with in 24 hr money refund, still not refund they are keep gaving time not give me money back please sort it out this for me help me here
