This is the first and last time I will be visiting Q&M. I've visited the White Sands outlet for an appointment of scaling and polishing on 11 Apr, 2pm. However, as one of my teeth got chipped off the day before, I told the dental surgeon, James Kwek Kok Kuang about it. He ordered an X-ray straight away without explaining why. It was when his assistant brought me to the X-ray room and she shared that it is to check whether the nerve is exposed and whether a filling can be done. She told me that the cost of the X-ray services is $120 before GST before proceeding. I appreciate her transparency in this regard.

I went back to the treatment room and James explained that my nerve was not exposed and told me the cost of the X-ray and filling to be 120 and 200 respectively. He also did not ask if I would like to proceed and proceeded anyway. I knew that I want to have the tooth fixed so I did not say anything and I am actually ok to pay for the services. After cleaning the hole, he showed it to me and said that he will be putting medicine. I said ok. He did not mention anything about having to take oral medicine. I was taken aback when I saw the medicine (antibiotics) stated in the invoice and asked the receptionist about it. She said need to take if the doctor prescribes. I questioned back and asked her to ask James. James's reply was the nerve was exposed a little after cleaning and I have take the antibiotics to prevent infection. I thought James could have communicated it better to me after the whole session before I leave the room.

During the treatment, after the filling was done, he also did not inform and straight away proceed to do the scaling. The scaling was done so fast that I could hardly breathe and had to endure through the pain and all.

After the treatment before I leave the room, I asked him what could possibly happen to my tooth. All I got was quite a nonchalant reply stating that I might have a filling done before and I did not do it at Q&M so he would not know and when it happens, it happens. I am appalled to hear such a reply coming from a dental surgeon who is not professional and just doing his job fast and quick so that I can leave the room.

What happened next is also a joke. The receptionist (may not be Singaporean, as she talked with an accent, could be Burmes/ Vietnamese) showed me the amount that I had to pay on a calculator and the amount shown was 400+. I requested to take a look at the breakdown of the services before I paid. The bill came up to $500+. When I asked her, she said, oh, maybe I keyed wrongly, but this is the amount that you have to pay. The corporate rate could also be better explained by her.

When I saw the invoice, I noticed that there were many hidden charges which were not made known to me. Like the stain removal, sterilization and disposables etc. I would like a review of the above and Q&M dental surgeons to be more professional in future.
