I received this letter today also, and I knew it was a scam from the beginning. Came here and discovered others also received. I wish people like this would get locked up and the key thrown away. I feel sorry for people who believe this junk.

I received a letter from Tri-Star inc with a check in closed in it. The check was written for the amount of 4250.00. So I read the letter stating that I needed to call a number to active the check. This seem really funny to me. So, I Had my sister look at it since she is a banker. One look and told me that it was a scam.

Beware when signing up for Direct TV. I recently signed up for Direct TV. Two days later, I called to cancel because the service turned out to be inferior to my cable service. When I spoke to Direct TV, they informed that service could only be cancelled within the first 24 hours. After that, I would have to pay a two-year commitment fee (over $400) if I wanted to cancel the service. Additionally, although I initially signed up for the service by calling Direct TV directly, they told me the service was actually installed by a third party, and therefore the cancellation issue out of their (Direct TV's) hands.

First, I was never informed of the 24 hour cancellation policy, nor of the two-year commitment when I signed up. Nor was I informed that the installation service was being performed by an independent third party not directly affiliated with Direct TV -and whose business name I don't even know - which means that any issues outside of the satellite service itself are between me and the unknown third party installation service provider.

This is a crooked business practice that makes you a slave to Direct TV, leaving the consumer with no other options once he/she is trapped in their web. Buyers beware. Direct TV is inferior to cable service in every way possible!

My receiver crashed and they wanted to charge me for a new one. I said no let me cancel my service since my contract had expired. The customer retention person told me that she could send me a receiver with out charge and no new agreement. She also said I could bundle with Embarq. When I called later to bundle they said they don't do it with embarq so I said cancel my service. They then told me I will have to pay an early termination fee. I said for what. They said my extended agreement when I got the replacement box. They are the best cons in the satellite business. The reps are super rude. They are excellent in the business of being rude to customers and not giving you vital info and lying about everything.

I upgraded to a DVR in 10/07, I recently got a better deal with another company after paying such extreme prices with DTV. So when I called to cancel them, they informed me that I signed a 2 year contract and that I was informed about this when I got the DVR. Now if they would have told me this I would have said no, but that’s how they get you. So now they want me to pay them 187.00 on top of my last bill. Well they informed me that they would take the finally fees out of the credit card I have on file, well one problem that card has expired, so it suck to be them uh. I refuse to pay for a fee that I was not informed about. I also called back and requested the contract that I signed, the lady told me it would be 7- 14 days. I only signed a work order. I really think we should get a class action law-suit going, because there full of it.
Blue Hippo hs took 99.00 dollars out of my account after i cancel my order with them within two days after i have order them. I refused to let me talk to a manager and refund the money back to my bank account which is now overdrawn because of them. They told that managers does not talk to customers and they will not give me corporate number to contact them. I was interested in the computer on August 5, and canceled after receiving the paperwork on August7. They talk my money the day I canceled when they was supposed to take it out on August 10. They said that I could not change my mind and i could only get store credit. When i denied store credit, he said that i would be refunded but have not done so as of yet. I really need help to find out what i can do, so that they can refund my money.
I ordered a laptop computer on February 2nd 2008, it is now October 4th 2008 i have not received the product i have payed for. I have payed exactly $1078.72 and they are still debiting money out of my account, but still more excuses and no product. They say there is no number to there corporate office, and they lie to me and telling me that they will have my shipping date in 7-14 days, . THEY HAVE BEEN TELLING ME THIS FOR ALREADY FOUR MONTHS NOW.
I initially opened this account with Blue Hippo in May of 2006. I still have not received my Free Printer or my $900.00 rebate. If you try to contact these people all you get is sales people answering the phone. They refuse to give you any other contact information and if you try to contact them via email, they NEVER answer back. I even had them leave a message with the Higher Management as they call it and still have not received a phone call or anything. All I get is that the matter has been escalated to upper management and they will contact me. What a CROCK! When they finally delivered my computer they left it on my FRONT STEP of my house. How stupid is that? What if someone saw it before I came home from work and just took it? This company plays on the the consumers that need to rebuild their credit and then... SCAM them. Why hasn't anyone done anything about this company. They still run their TV ads for computers and seem to still be trucking along with their profits while the consumer is still being ripped off!
I kept getting advertisements from these people in every email account I had with messages that this or that person was looking for me (which was not true), and they advertised membership for only $5.00 a month. Since I am on disability I figured I could squeeze $5.00 into my monthly budget, but the next day I discovered they had debited my account for $60.00. I immediately wrote them by email stating that their advertising was false, that I could not afford $60.00, that I had 72 hours legally to change my mind, and to please refund my money. I never heard a word.

Tonight I received one of their notices in my email, and when I went to log in I was told that I did not have a membership. I was outraged and sent them an email to that effect. Most of the time when they send messages that someone is 'looking' for you, that in fact is not the truth. It is simply a ploy to lure you to their site.

Please do not be suckered in by these people. Their business practices are sleazy at best.

Directv does not take care of its good customer service technical agents. The employees that really value that customers and take what time and research needed to resolve the customers issues. These good csrs are penalized by the company by not getting their incentive payouts and some time their payroll checks which in the end causes these good csr reps to leave DTV. The Customer Service Reps that remain are low caliber human beings that have tattoos, noise rings, have moehocks and are overweight and filthy poor uneducated individuals that can't get a job anywhere else loser employees that make $9 to $13 hour. These are the people handling your DTV account. DTV rewards csr that do not roll trucks for sc, send out remote controls or receiver replacements and who do not issue credits because these stats tie into incentive payouts so instead of the csr doing the moral and just right thing for the customer they disc calls for searching for satellite to avoid setting up service calls, tell customers to get remotes from retailers and refuse credits that the customers entitled to. DTV also tracks seconds between a call, how fast a tech gets off the phone and if a tech says everything they should on the phone and if they transfer a call. Its a model for poor customer service to the customer and I'm sorry I work for DTV and have done this to customers to earn a living.

I had direct TV for a year. When we called to get it, they told us it was a 1- year commitment. When we called to cancel after waiting through outages and poor service for a year, they decide we had agreed to a 2-year contract. Although we told them this was not what we agreed to, they said that's their policy, and they were going to charge us. They billed our final bill to our credit card, despite having told us that the card number was only to secure the return of the equipment. They refused to reverse the charge, so we had the credit card company do it. I've complained to every agency I can find, and I'm posting in the hope that everyone who gets taken by these illegal and unfair practices also complains. Enough people complained in 2006 that class action lawsuits got people some of their money back. PLEASE COMPLAIN TO YOUR STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL. We can force DirecTV to change if everyone works together. I have another year and a half of law school, or I'd try to get another class action suit going myself. Above all, tell everyone you know not to use DirecTV.

We signed up for direct tv and thought all was good. over the months that went by the channels we received were less and less. They never bill us. Expect us to log on and just pay when were suppose too. Well I decided to just not pay after they called and said in a recording that it was very important to call them. Especially after trying to watch tv and more and more channels say not purchased. I will be calling them and saying I'm not happy with service and want to cancel. Will probably get some offer or be told I have to pay an early disconnect or something. Well more fun for my life I guess. Some one needs to take these suckers out to court!

Being a customer for 7 years to have a $400 dollar early cancellation fee for a box I thought I bought, activated and then told about a contract I've just entered and a termination fee after the fact of activation. I explained the issue but they couldn't give a ***. I asked if he could look at the last person I spoke with regard this issue and said he does see who I spoke with. I asked if he could place HER on the phone only for him to say "It really doesn't matter what HE said, you still have to pay the fee". This shows me he didn't even look at the notes or even listen to me since that the person was a female. He didn't care about my issue. Being treated like a second class citizen, DTV should be thankful I had been a valued customer. As a service provide, you should be ashamed of yours. Very unprofessional.

So I meet a former Direct TV employee who explains to me that no one gets the portable DVD player, it's a scam. He explains the "boiler room" Direct TV call center where everyone is a nervous wreck wondering when there will be a raid. Direct TV call center workers are told to say that service calls are free but every one of their sub contracted service techs want a check or cash when they show up at your house. When will there be a class action lawsuit?

I was working in Augusta Ga, one day I checked my balance only to find out that my account was overdrawn. I went into my local branch office to see how this happened. I was told that I had transaction from two companies that I have never had any business dealings with. So I filled out the fraud form and assumed that all would be taken care of.

Well it was not, and after many months of trying to get this issue resolved, just today I was on the phone with Wachovia headquarters and was told that this matter can be resolved if 'I' paid the $194.00 in overdraft charges!

I need to pay overdraft charges in order to correct a problem that 'They' allowed? Also when I moved to Virginia Beach I was in a branch office still trying to resolve this issue the lady whom I was talking to informed me that there was just (as I sat there) another transaction being done on my account, I thought surely this would help my case..

Sadly it did not. All I can say is consumers beware and if it is at all possible find another financial institution to handle your hard earned money!

We mailed a $1, 300.00 check for deposit to our Wachovia Bank checking account in Dothan, Alabama. September 1, 2008 the bank admitted receiving the deposit Tuesday, September 2, and told me it would be processed after midnight. They would not, however honor my debit card to purchase necessary prescriptions on Thursday. Automatic bill pay was suspended. The bank will not refund "Late" charges. They used our money for a week; paid no interest and gave us no access to our funds. This action is obscene and an insult to their so called Senior Citizen friendly policy.

Well the last place someone wants to open an account should be Wachovia. They have big posters on buses stating #1 five years in a row. I guess they rip normal people like you and me to pay off their executives as well as advertisement. Last week I made some transactions using my debit card and you see how much money you have left on wachovia.com. I kept a track of my expenditure looking at those available balance. Three days later I see I was hit with 205 dollar of insufficient fund fees. I walked in the branch pissed so as usual they told me it was my fault and I should have been more careful. I was suppose to receive my pay check with didn’t come through. So after arguing for so long they gave me a 77 dollars courtesy fees. I asked them y did they let the transaction go when there was no money in my account as any else bank will do, I got an answer it could be an emergency that is y they didn’t stop it. Yes I had an emergency for a smoothie that coasted me 40 dollars instead of 5. I wrote a check next week for 700 dollars and guess what I had 18 dollar less in my account and Wachovia cleared it. Well can you imagine a bank that pays your checks or debit card purchases even when you don’t have money in your account? Well here is a bank called Wachovia who will rip you off no matter what. I want to see if I write a check for 100o dollars and I don’t have any money in the account to back it up and see if they cash it... honestly if you work hard for your money and you want to keep it safe from banker turned thieves open your account in chase or bank of America... I have already filled for complaint with bbb and would request people to do the same against this robbing institution...

This Month I was going through the drive through and gave the teller the order check blank to have them send me more checks. Mysteriously, the charge was taken out of my account like someone strategically waited until it would cause my account to be overdrawn by a whopping 17 cents. That has already cost me $235.00 in fees!

I have read through all of this post and my express opinion is that these algorithms that the banks servers use are a major rip-off! It should be immediately outlawed and the Feds or someone should expose the programming that is creating this ridiculous form of robbery. We should all get together and offer a cash reward to the programmer or employee of Wachovia that comes clean and provides the evidence needed to bust these banks for what they are doing.

To those here that do not think that this could happen to you, think again! Even your perfect accounting could not have avoided this one!

I tried to make a payment on the Chrysler Financial website and it was down, so I called to inform them that I would make a payment as soon as it was up. The first person said to return a call before 5:00 to verify again, and when I did, I spoke to this person (last name Jones), she said I had no option but to pay by phone (for a fee), or go to W. Union and had to do it by 5:00. This person was VERY rude about it and this wasn't the first time either.

Because they are loading a truck with 15 to 20 Stops and 60 to 90 Pieces to delivery and assemble, so they are not delivering pizzas this is not mail service, this is furniture, and heavy furniture to second and third floors. plus they are not in the same zip code, they do this to save money on Deliveries, instead of having two trucks with decent stops (10-12) and pieces (40 to 60) they load a full truck and sometimes overload it, so drivers need to go back to warehouse and then come late to a customer house sometimes 11:00PM.
Went to the Just Brakes today to ask about a simple worn pad change. They said it would fall under their $99.88 deal, but as they took the car in the manager stated that the pads would have to be specially ordered from the dealer and that my total went from $99.88 to over $240.00. Of course, I said no way and had called the local Autozone to see if they carried them.

BTW, Autozone does have my Infinity brake pads for $22.99.

Don't ever go to Just Brakes unless you enjoy being ripped off.

Lady of America did not post my payment of $144.90 and when I sent them the proof (mind you I sent it 5 times to five different reps) that I had already payment they sent me to collections. Now I’m stuck in collections and cannot get out till I pay $144.90 again with late fees added. Customer service is a joke they don’t know anything and the collection agency knows even less. I mean if they can’t make important decisions why put them there they should just have an answering service that said "there is nothing that I can do", " I don’t know how to help you with this". I just want them to tell collections that it was already paid is that so hard. I really don’t know how to handle this problem, what should I do, I have the proof that I have paid all my bills but no one cares, any suggestions.
