I was laid off due to covid pandemic... Filed for benefits and began getting payments.. Months later received overpayment notices and expected to pay back. They said their was a waiver which I filled out that could get rid of overpayment. It's been months and months since I submitted the waiver and they haven't said if I was or wasn't eligible to get overpayment waived... Totally unprofessional.. A study was done and found that they overpaid claimants $250 million either due to fraud or their ignorance of not knowing what benefit amount to pay claimants... I think it's a joke that our governor gave away $2.5 million to one person who got the vaccine and several $1000 or more prizes if you got a vaccine.. On top of that she just extended the eviction process so basically people can apply for benefits to pay their overdue rent and supported offering $300 more to unemployment claimants till september and now they're also giving parents money if they have kids... I just think they are helping those that don't necessarily need the money or are not hurting for income... Yet they want all the overpaid claimants to pay up because of their mistakes.. They don't want to admit how inefficient their system is and all the errors they made... Why is it that recently the governor made them do a massive rehaul of all employees and the department and the secretary bill mcalmy stepped down claiming threats when really he didn't want to be held accountable for screwing over overpaid claimants and an inefficient call system and operation center.. New mexico government and all its agencies has turned its back on the people who were wrongfully overpaid.
Desired outcome: Overpayment of benefits waived
