On Friday the 13 March 2020 I visited Mr Price Malmesbury to make some purchases. After the purchase was done, upon leaving the store, I slipped and fall down the stairs. The root cause of the incident was because of a puddle of water running from some air conditioner of the Store.

No warning signs of or any other warning signs were visible to indicate that there is water running or some problem with any equipment on the premises of the store. I reported the incident immediately but the store manager was not available at that time and was told to come back the Monday 16th March 2020. I also had to go back to the store to bring my statement 18 March 2020.

The next morning I could not even get up. My whole body was stiff and sore and could not stand on my 1 leg. Due to my wedding on Saturday morning 14 March 2020 I could only go to the Dr on the Monday 16th March 2020. While attending my own wedding that was supposed to the best day of my life, I was very discomforted by the immense pain. The doctor diagnoses was a swollen leg and blue spots and he also alert blue spots all over my leg. Also due to the repeated impact at falling from the top to bottom of the stairs has caused this injury. I was booked off for 3 days and enough rest is needed.
A letter was sent to me that I claim the amount of R580.00 whereby I don't know that I agreed to this amount. I am seeking compensation for the injury-related damages I suffered because of the stores negligence. (Dr Certificate and petrol slips was given in by the Store Manager).
DAMAGES
Dr. Kortje - R380.00
Medicines and painkiller - R150.00
Lost Wages - R1235.00 (5 days)
Out of pocket expenses (petrol from Riverlands to Malmesbury) R600.00
To compensate me for the physical pain, emotional distress, and the financial losses I sustained, I demand the total amount of R2365.00 to resolve my injury claim.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Ms Liezl Lingeveldt.
