They charge too much for COVID testing at Marque Medical. They asked for $100 for an authorization and $250 for the test, even though I have Medicare coverage. The test should be free for Medicare patients by federal law. The doctor's call and test administration were quick, but they charged me $350 in total. They were testing people in a strip mall next to a store, and some patients weren't wearing masks. When I complained, they told me to stay six feet away from others in public. I was angry and called the mayor, police, and county health department in Mission Viejo.

I went to Marque Medical in July for a covid test. They were the closest clinic to us, so we scheduled an appointment right away. But before we could get the test, we had to go through a screening. They scheduled a virtual screening for me and my husband, but my appointment got moved to 11:30am instead of 9am. The screening was just some basic questions about our info and how we were feeling. It only took about 8-10 minutes. But then I got a bill for $320 for "Medical Services." I have insurance, so they should have covered it. And why are they charging so much? It feels like they're taking advantage of the situation. I'm worried that they're doing this to other people too.

I called and asked if they were in network for Blue Shield and they said yes. But when I went there, they charged me $160. I told them my copay is $25 for urgent cares, but they said it depends on the deductible. I believed them and paid before my visit. The doctor examined me and recommended an ear irrigation. I asked if it would cost extra and they said no. After my visit, I called my insurance and they said urgent cares are not subject to the deductible and my copay should have been $25. I called Marque again and they said they weren't the right type of urgent care. My insurance offered to pay the difference, but Marque didn't send the claim. I called back and the manager said I didn't understand insurance. When the Blue Shield rep said that wasn't true, the manager transferred us to voicemail without saying anything. The billing person said the ear irrigation was on there now, even though they said it wasn't a charge before. They're changing their story now because they're wrong.
