overcharging at pump
Today I purchased gas for $20 at a Lukoil gas station with my AmExpress card. Lukoil charged me over $100! I never authorized more than the $20 for the amount I purchased. The guy at the gas station said the rest would be returned to me in a couple of days and that all gas stations do this. What is this about? Why on earth do they need to charge me $80 more than the amount of gas that I actually wanted? I have a small car and $30 will fill it up. Is Lukoil doing this to millions of other customers every day? Are they making money on all of the money they are "holding" for a couple of days? If you are using credit cards, keep an eye on them so you don't get ripped off. I called AmExpress to dispute the amount I was charged and it was credited back to my account immediately. I won't be going back to Lukoil!
bad fuel
On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, the Lukoil service station on Stelton RD in South Plainfield, NJ pumped 5 gallons of water into my fuel tank instead of 5 gallons of fuel. My car suffered extensive damage and the total menetary costs were over $1, 200.00. I am searching for people who also had the same problem.

I was at the pump and the man came to my window I told him 18 dollars of regular. As I was sitting at the pump waiting for the man to pump my gas I noticed him and the older man behind my van. Then the man walked around my came up to my van with the other man that was working and they were smiling, I asked him what was so funny and he asked me if I wanted some "Dick"? I told him that I wanted my 2 dollars to get me back over the bridge. I am very appauled that this would happen when I was trying to get gas at a cheaper pri ce than in Pennsylvania. I had my little girl in my van and she knew that I was upset and asked me what that man said to me. I am calling my lawyer tomorrow mourning to file a complaint and file charges against this gentleman which I don't even think that is the proper word for him. I would expect you to do something about this because I am sure this is not the first time this thing has done this. You will be hearing from my lawyer soon about this matter. The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
One should not blame Lukoil Oil and Gas Company but the station owner about his/her employees. The service stations operating are a complete different company than the supplier. They operate as Lukoil North America and are a separate organization than Lukoil Oil and Gas Company based in Moscow, Russia.

When you buy fuel at a gas station regardless of the brand, the credit card company pre authorizes your sale in the amount of either $100.00 or $75.00. The reason for this is to make sure the funds will be available after the sale. Unlike going to the supermarket you can not return the gas if the sale is denied. After the transaction your credit card company not the gas station refunds the difference to your account. This may be immediately or 24 to 48 hours depending on the credit card merchant.
