Recently responded to an ad on hoobly on October 15, 2026 for a puppy adoption.
Scammer tag name Bellathebulldogs.
She advertised puppies that need homes for a “pet foster parent”. It’s a scam. Called “foster parent” and had conversations about a time to meet up to bring puppy home. She asked for a retainer fee of $75 which I paid with CashApp. I called today, October 18, 2026 to confirm plans to pick up puppy, and both numbers given were disconnected.
I contacted advertiser bellathebulldogs and told her I was reporting her. She sent back a long winded reply about that the foster parent had told her the puppies were “sick” on Saturday the 17th. Then proceeded to berate me for reporting it as a scam even though I “knew” they were “sick”. (“Foster mom” has made absolutely no attempt to contact me over the weekend at all.)
Claimed loss: $75
Desired outcome: Expose the scammers

I am so sorry, that whole story is a script and the sickness excuse is just the next line. Do this now: open CashApp and report the payment as a scam, then message support and request a reversal, because speed matters. Screenshot every message, the ad, and both phone numbers before she deletes anything. Report the listing to Hoobly and file the scam with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov. If you want the police involved, your local non emergency line can take it. Then block her and do not send another cent, no matter what sob story comes next. You did nothing wrong here, you just trusted someone who did not deserve it.
