On October 6, 2022 I purchased a 5 year protection plan for a bed I had bought for my Grandchildren. I filed a claim on August 3, 2025 for a broken bed. After 2 months of going back and forth with numerous customer service representatives, on October 1, 2025 I was scheduled for a Technician Service visit to see if it could be fixed. The technician concluded that the bed could not be fixed and needed to be replaced. On October 8, 2025 I was offered $68.49 for the purchase price of the 5 year policy that I had purchased. They verbally told me that the decision was based on the fact that Overstock no longer carries Guardsman. This company had the option of offering me a full refund of $589.73 for my grandchildren's bed as stated in their service procedure 5.1.5: Cash Settlement. I never received written notification of the reason why my claim had been denied in the first place. They failed to pay the covered claim within 60 days as stated on their agreement and by law they should have provided a working number for the underwriting insurance company, Old Republic as the one on the agreement was no longer working.
Finally, on December 16, 2025 they asked me to have my lawyer contact their office. Because I live on a fixed income I have been unable to replace my grandchildren's bed, much less hire a lawyer. However, I do plan to pursue this issue with my State's Department of Insurance because this is not right.
Recommendation: Do Not Ever Consider Purchasing any Protection Plan with Guardsman.
