Bad tanzanite
I have a real problem with their tanzanite. I bought a so called AAA tanzanite ring and when I got it I wasn't sure of the color and the more I look ed at it the madder I get. It is definitely not a AAA not even a real color tanzanite, it has very little color. I took a trip to the caribbean and their tanzanite was absolutely beautiful and blue. I am so upset... I also bought a blue diamond from them that is the oddest color blue diamond I have ever seen and I am really upset with that also... You have to be really careful what you buy from them, I have bought a lot and most of it is alright except for the most expensive things I got. I will stay with their cheap stuff..

color enhancement
PURCHASED A MADASCAN RUBY RING, LOVED IT. HAD IT SIZED AND IT WAS RUINED BECAUSE IT WAS COLOR ENHANCED...MEANING IT HAD BEEN INJECTED WITH SOMETHING TO MAKE THE COLOR MORE EVEN AND REDDER, NOW THIS IS LEGAL...BUT THEY SAY IN THEIR INFORMATION ONLINE THAT THE PRESENTERS WILL LET YOU KNOW IF A GEM IS ENHANCED IN THIS WAY BECAUSE SPECIAL CARE IS NEEDED DOES NOT TAKE THE HEAT OF SIZING. STONE NEEDS TO BE PULLED FIRST. NOT ONE OF THE HOSTS HAS EVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THIS TREATMENT, SO THE JEWELER WHERE I TOOK IT HAD TO SEARCH FOR 2 MONTHS TO REPLACE THE STONE, THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING AND I TOLD CS SO, THEY SAID THAT IS WHY THEY GIVE YOU A BOOK ON GEMS WITH FIRST PURCHASE, WHAT A COP OUT, WHO READS EVERY DETAIL IN A BOOK WHEN YOU RELY ON THE COMPANY TO BE TRUTHFUL AS THEY STATE ON LINE IN WRITING? I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED IN THEM AND THEIR EXCUSES, I ALSO HEARD ONE OF THE HOSTS STATE ON AIR THAT THESE RUBIES ARE NOT TREATED IN ANY WAY!I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EARS, THEY NEED TO DO WHAT THEIR MISSION STATEMENT SAYS THEY ARE GOING TO DO, BE HONEST WITH THE CUSTOMER. I WOULD OF BOUGHT THE RUBY ANYWAY SINCE THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMOM PRACTICE, AND HAD THE STONE REMOVED FOR SIZING, INSTEAD I WENT THROUGH MONTHS OF WORRY WHETHER I WAS GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET THE RUBY FROM MY JEWELER, I WAS SICK ABOUT IT. I KNOW I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO .

ALWAYS assume that gemstones are treated. 99% are. If it is untreated, it very well may be out of your price range. Don't ever believe for one minute, where ever you purchase gems, that they are not treated. Most companies/jewelers don't disclose this info -- so look for a company that does. I shop at one. They don't give out booklets, they put it on the screen and the hosts say it constantly. Collecting colored stones can be a lot of fun, but you MUST be careful.
Dawne --
You are in a state that has a fabulous jewelry station. Check you channel listings. They only sell jewelry and gemstones - nothing else. You are missing the boat if you continue to purchase tanzanites with bad color. They are the largest retailers of tanzanite in the U.S. at this point.
I have bought several AAA tanzanites, all of which had bad color. I bought a ceylon sapphire, I was so disappointed when I got it, it was almost clear, I call a rep. and she said a person could get any color with a ceylon blue sapphire, and K aren Connelly purely states, If it is not blue, it is not ceylon . She was the only one that said, the ceylon blue are suppose to be blue, what I got and paid for was one of the worst pieces gotten from Gemstv. I would rather the one of a kind, that way, I know what I am getting. these large games, is like cracker jackers, you never know what you are going to get. Dawne Myers from Kingsport, Tn.
I have never had a single problem with them. I also do not work for them in anyway.
Rubies and Emeralds are always fracture filled and heat/color treated. The... Madagascan... Ruby you bought that came with the free book... gives you all the information on how to treat it and care for it. If you refuse to read "the whole book" the very least you could do is read information about the gemstone that you have purchased. Their motto is not "be honest to the customer" it is "Luxury Within Reach"... Most of the time you hear that the COLOR is not being filtered through the camera lens and I am sure that is what they meant. Your Jeweler should have also been aware of the above facts that I just stated... You made a blind purchase... perhaps you should brush up on some knowledge before investing is such important pieces of jewelry.
You are not the only one. I also had this happen to me. Wish I knew what to do to fix this and make them tell the customers if the stones are enhanced or not so this doesn't happen to other people. Their CS sucks.
Ring scam
I bought a blue and white diamond ring from Gems TV and they say that they have a 30 day money back guarantee if you leave the tag on it. They also tell you to wear it and see if you like it. Well I wore it for a few days and sent it back before the 30 days with the tag still on it and I find a return and it is them sending it back to me because the tag is worn. I have bought numerous items from them since last August and I am a valued customer ordering from them all the time... I am very upset with them that they sent the ring back to me knowing that the ring is unharmed. Now they are loosing a good customer...

Hello I would like to complain about a woman that's on gems tv a white woman that generally wears royal blue, I belive from what I have seen that she thinks she looks like Kate Middleton and tries to be like her aswell well she doesn't, I can see what she's thinking and so can anyone else and something should be done about this as its not nice.

Gems TV prey on people with little knowledge and are probably housebound or bored on their own so they feel watching the Gems TV sites lessens their loneliness. Gems TV sells over priced rubbish, stones fall often fall out within days, on one occasion the same day. I used to nuy presents for my friends and family and couldn't understand why they were not worn, eventually I asked and their embarrassment in having to tell me that stones had fallen out, clasps broken or that the colour fron the so called gems had disappeared. Do buy jewellery from ebay, amazon but please avoid Gems as you are buying overpriced rubbish.
I have purchased many different jewelry pieces from many different places. I too purchased a lot to mainly resell. You need to remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just because the local jewelry store says they're crap doesn't mean they r the final word! They r just mad b/c these other dealers r stealing customers and in fact driving market prices down. I went to a jeweler n they told me my ring that I pd 1039.00 usd for he would by for 200.00! That these places tell u these colored gems r rare and valuable when they r not. I even had an IGA appraisal for it with a value of 4200.00. So his 200.00 was a joke and I know that. He was trying to scam me thinking I would sell and he would then make a fantastic profit. Unfortunately I think another poster Hollywood got scammed as well just cause they agreed doesn't make them right! You should have kept them and resold as u planned. Some things I've sold went quick others I still have 4 yrs later but I made a profit on all items sold and I think Hollywood would have too. Local Jewelers don't want u to trust anyone but them. That's how they make their money! People buy jewelry b/c they love it not b/c they want an investment. At the very least Hollywood should have been able to break even. If they can sell it at that price then u should have been able to do the same! So sorry to hear your story that's a huge loss!
This is all amazing to me. The first year they were on Directv, I bought my wife several hundred dollars in rings, pendants, and earings. All were colored gemstones, no diamonds unless they accent stones. Since then I have bought more each year. Birthday and Xmas were the times I bought the most. Probably ten thousand over a 3 or 4 year period. I have never had a problem, NEVER! If I return something they credit my account. The only thing close to a hassle was a 200.00 pendant this xmas. I didn't like the color but when I returned it, they sent it back telling me it was past the thirty days. And you know when I called them, they were right 41 days had past, I had mis figured. When I asked if there was anything else we could do, she replied let me ask my supervisor. She came back on the phone in about a minute and said she had taken care of it. She gave me a return authorization number, ans asked if there was anything else she could do? I thanked her and returned the ring again, in about ten days I got an e mail from my debit card bank. THEY HAD RETURNED MY MONEY. I will miss them. Dan in the South
It's amazing to me that GemsTV would sell stuff that isn't what they say it is. I hope you contacted the proper authorities to let them know. No one should claim diamonds and gold and sell otherwise.
My experience with them has always been very good. I bought a ruby and diamond ring for between 3 and 400 and it appraised at my jewelers for over 1200. My pink sapphire was bought for just over 200 and appraised for well over 500. I bought a Zambian emerald ring for just over 500 and it appraised for over 1400! And a paraiba tourmaline purchased for around 500 appraised for around 1200.
There was once a mix-up in their label department and I got the wrong item. When I called she had UPS pick it up free. I never recieved the item I bought, so never got charged, plus they sent me a $25 gift card for my inconvenience. Recently I bought something, and the promotion of the day was you recieved a silver chain free with purchase. When my purchase came, I couldn't find the chain, so I called and told them. They said they'd send another, no charge, even postage. Later in the day, I literally ripped the envelope apart and found the chain, so I called and told them so, and not to send another. A few days later it came anyway!
So although I feel badly about those who have had problems, in all fairness I wanted to say that I've had very good experiences with GemsTV.
I have purchased quite a few things from Gems TV and have not had any problems with returns. The secret is just dont buy anything too expensive from them. I loved my first ring which is supposed to be aquamarine but there is not a hint of blue in these stones. I suspect they maybe white topaz. I still love the ring, it is crafted well and I cant complain to much about a 70.00 dollar ring.Like I said I wouldnt invest a whole lot on something that looks too good to be true.
I recieved a ring from gems tv. It claimed to be white gold and diamond, but when it arrived it looked a ###. I took it to my nearest jewellers to have an valuation. When it came back it turned out the diamonds were in fact diazepam and the white gold was a pigs ### sprayed silver. I am still so upset. So much so I have to keep sniffing my ring to stop myself having panic attacks. This ### ring cos me £1.800
I recently purchased a ring from Gemstv, when I received the ring I was not happy with the quality. I like a heavier weighted ring, I kept if for about two weeks before returning the ring - thinking I may change my mind. I kept the tag on the ring, however I did wrap the tag around the band to try to see how it would look it if was sized to my correct size.
The ring was returned to me, apparently touching the tag at all is a big "no no" because that is considered "tampering" with the tag. I called customer service and was told that because I tampered with the tag, they counld not accept the ring - they say the tag was not legible. the bar code was hard to read, but the statement, "DO NOT REMOVE TAG IF RETURNING ITEM" was still legible (I took pictures).
I called customer serivce, the rep I spoke with was rude, I was asked why I didn't return in it immediatley, usually his customers return things the next day. I said you have a 30 day no questions asked policy - but if you must know, I wanted to make sure that I really didn't like the ring. I was told I should not have wore the ring - I explained that I was trying to see how it would look if it was sized to my size 5 fingers and not their standard size 7. He said there was nothing he could do - I told him I would dispute it with my credit card company.
I have received a statement from my credit card company - they were not able to get their money back from Gemstv, so they will not refund my money. I still have ring, pictures of the ring and the tag and I am now trying to determine my next step.
I don't like the ring - IF I had wore the ring, I would not have walked around with a tag flapping in the wind while I was wearing it!
I have ordered tons from Gemstv and i have returned alot too, when i decide it doesn't go with what i bought it for. I have never had a problem with returning. I've returned two necklace at once and they took both of them back. There customer service is wonderful to me also, not sure how these other people say they suck. There prices are amazing and the jewerly is amazing. People should stop complaining jewelry stores would never give you the flexibility Gemstv does.

Gems TV treats their employees terrible.
'Very professional' - of JTJ.
If you wish to promote your professionalism and your education, I suggest your choice of vocabulary should be delivered with a little more caution.
I certainly wouldn't purchase anything from you, if this is how you address problems.
I agree. I purchased a so-called Pariba Tourmaline here in UK only to find it wasn't worth half the money, and it wasn't as described. So I sent it back I'm still fighting to get my £1194 back i's been 6 years now they try to ignore me unless I get a resolve I will take this up with a no win no fee solicitor. And DRAG them to court.

Let me be VERY CLEAR ON THIS SITE, I have NEVER sold any of you any gemstones, nor jewelry so if I make a comment here, i'm going to do it in my own way. I am NOT here to sugar coat my statements so if you can't handle my directness then over look my comments and post your own, because i'm going to continue responding to stories posted on this site my way, not any of yours.
Thanks And Get Educated Like I Did! LOL! i've never been burned by a JTV and any of your TV'S either! LOL!
@GEMINIBRAVEFAN: If you don't like how I answer a comment here that's your problem not mines, and I will continue answering comments here in the manner I please.
Are you a REAL JEWELER? DO YOU OWN YOUR OWN JEWELRY STORE? ARE YOU A GRADUATE GEMOLOGIST LIKE MYSELF? I think your answer to all of my questions will be NO.
CASE CLOSED!
JamesIsAJeweler, you may have all the education in the world but you can still lose a lot of business by using profanity when addressing others. Insulting or verbally attacking is never a good business practice, there are other ways to handle false comments made about you. That being said, JTJ is correct about Tanzanite being more rare than a Diamond! Do some research GTThieves because it doesn't take a gemological certificate to educate yourself on the rarity of Tanzanite. I've been collecting gems for years & discovered my favorite stone before many knew that Tanzanite existed. I have expensive taste in gems, maybe it has to do with being born in June & having Alexandrite as my birthstone. I have both natural & Russian lab Alex in my collection. I even bought Zandrite to round out my collection though none mean more than the grown only in nature gem. I know JTJ means well when advising to not buy from tv & I agree on that up to about 90%. My situation is unique & happens almost never. I used to buy gems in jewelry stores, from private collectors, and a few online stores I trusted completely. I discovred Tanzanite was becoming more known while channel surfing about 5-6 years ago. I decided to buy a few loose stones & 2 rings I liked. All the items I received were the deep gorgeous color many only dream of owning. When I took them in for my jeweler to look at he wanted to know where I got them. He was going to get a few for his personal collection because he couldn't get the size, color, and price even through an actual vendor. Unfortunately those days are long gone and no longer would I be able to buy D block color (aka AAA). That sort of material isn't even coming out of the mine any longer. That statement pains me to say because I knowmy children won't even be able to purchase Tanzanite as adults except through private collectors for an astronomical price. Thank goodness we bought each of them 2 nice stones. We also bought Tanzanite solitaire rings to give our daughters on their wedding day for their something blue. The time to get your Tanzanite is running out. I now see only light colors offered most places. I find the light color very beautiful but nothing can compare to the beauty of the darker shades. It is literally breathtaking. Those that say they can aquire tge darker color like JTJ should be sought out now before it can only be seen in museums or private collections. Make no mistake that the day will come before we know it. Oh and by the way JTJ a friendly little bit of unsolicited info: the correct phrase is I couldn't care less. To say you could care less means you still care enough that there's room to care even less than you already do. I know the correct phrase is said much less often but I promise you will find what I say is true if you do a bit of research.
In reference to the original complaint about Gemstv's tanzanite pieces, I agree/would like to add my comments/complaints. I have been a customer of that company since the begining, and I encountered a very similar problem. A few months ago, i purchased a "AAA" tanzanite ring from gemstv and was bitterly disappointed by what i received in the mail. Fortunately, i made the purchase before they went out of business, so i was able to return it for a full refund. One thing's for sure, i definitely learned my lesson about buying expensive pieces on tv or online. As a result of my experience, i was inspired to find a well educated (by GIA) and established jeweler whom i trust to sell me quality jewelry at a price i can afford.
Be careful buying colored gemstones. Always have them analyzed by a licensed gemologist to be sure their not synthetic.
To James the Jeweler and all,
Attitude alone says a lot. I just happen to come across this posting and note to self...don't use this James jeweler. You may know all that you know, but professionalism speaks a lot and you don't have it. You can tell people information without being a bully or an ###. There's a lot of other certified jewelers that are professional, reliable and helpful.
When making any major purchase...research research and buy from a reliable places.
