Geek Squad review: Transfer of photos

Hello, this is being written almost a year after the disappointment happened that I want you to be aware. Today I cancelled the renewal of my Best Buy Total protection as I do not feel it is beneficial to me. Last year at this time I bought a 24" iMac at Best Buy along with the Total protection program. Upon the purchase of the new iMac I discussed how the transfer of data from one iMac to another would be handled. I was assured, positively assured, in no uncertain terms, that everything (I repeat - everything) would transfer exactly as it is. So I happily left both computers in the experienced hands of the Geek Squad. Here's where it went bad - I picked it up and took it home and happily started to work on it. I am a big photo person, and I have made albums of all family occasions for many, many years. You can imagine my horror to discover that hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of photos are missing. A nervous call to the Geek Squad confirmed for me the the pics are indeed permanently gone. I can't even begin to express my anxiety. When pressed for further explanation, I was told that due to the fact that many of the photos had previously been transferred from another computer (a third iMac) prior to this transfer, it couldn't handle the transfer. At no time, not ever, was that possibility ever mentioned. I want to be clear that the Geek Squad reps were never rude or disrespectful to me. They were always completely professional and "helpful" but offered no solution. So I am left with dozens of occasions (birthdays, graduations, Christmas, etc, etc) that i have no photos of. I expect no resolution at this point, but could not let this go without you being aware. Why photo transfer from an iMac to an iMac to an iMac would not be possible is incomprehensible to me, and especially that the service reps were not aware of it. I love my iMac and I love Best Buy but I am horribly sad that this happened. I only need to hear from you if you believe there is an option available (a deeper dig by another agency)?
