I am a former employee and i'll tell you the truth - these people from the owners to the brokers are dishonest crooks. I had to be also in order to make money. Employees (brokers selling customers the policy) are trained to lie and cheat the customer in various ways!!! It is expected of employees!!!
The parent company of freeway insurance (which was purchased in 2006 from a sole proprietor) also owns solo insurance, westcoast insurance and confie seguros.
Brokers are trained to low ball over the phone by giving no down payment and low monthly payments to* lure * the customers in the office, once customers are in front of their desk employees will charge big down payment which includes broker fee of up to $485 (this is the legal limit, otherwise i'm sure it would be higher), and of course higher monthly payments, employees are trained and pressued to lie, lie, lie, they will say it's due to your driving record, but even if you have a clean driving record, they're trained to say because your car is not registered in your name, (all types of lies and excuses which are incorrect).
Also if you go into the office to make a policy change such as adding/dropping vehicle, etc they will quote you higher dishonest prices with your current insurance company in order to sell you another policy because they can charge you another broker fee and receive money for the policy commission as well.
Freeway insurance is currently being sued by it's brokers, assistant managers and managers for unpaid overtime, along with eight other allegations. Think about it, if brokers are treated this way by the owners, you can just imagine how much customers are being ripped off by the owners!!!
