Fox Rent A Car Rental car charges

I recently rented a car from Fox. It was a Kia Sportage or something similar. Booking [protected]. When I went to pick up the car I was told there were no compacts left and would have to upgrade to a full size for an additional charge of $570.00 I found it hard to believe there were no compact cars left. I feel this was a scam.Having just arrived from New Jersey I needed the car. I would like to have someone look into this.

Fox Rent A Car Paid twice for rental car

On 9/3/22 I arrived at the Fox rental counter in Tampa FL to pick up a jeep Wrangler or similar that was booked and paid for through Priceline.com on 3/21/22 .

I was told that I was to receive a Minivan and not a Jeep Wrangler.

I then had to settle for a car I didn't want. At this point I was told I had to pay for the car again even though I had paid already through Priceline and was also charged a extra amount because I didn't want to rent the Minivan .

Desired outcome: Refund of $360.55

Fox Rent A Car Hidden Fees, Additional Charges

We booked Fox through priceline because it was the cheapest. We paid around 400 through priceline just for the daily rent, but we didn't know there would be additional charges when picking up the car. When we went to FOX the car we booked was not given to us because it is not "guaranteed". We paid 459 in fees due to additional driver(100), toll pass (which he said he was going to take off if we didn't use it), taxes, and a $1000 hold on our credit card. The total we paid at FOX that night was around 1,200. Upon inspection of the car we realized that the power box was missing, we then informed the worker in which he offered us a minivan but we denied because it was too big. He had also told us that he was going to take off some money because of the missing power box. After bringing back the car, we recieved a 450 refund but that meant we still spent over 800 for a damaged car. We went in store to lower the cost, and get some money back but they could only offer us the removal of the toll pass ($76) and ($20) for the missing power box.

Fox Rent A Car Car Rental from Fox arranged through Priceline

My wife was traveling to Salt Lake City. She made arrangements through Priceline. She was to go to Fox Rent A Car. When she arrived, she was informed that they do not do third party rentals. She was charged an additional $339.28 for the rental for 1 day. My wife had just lost her son in an accident and her daughter in law was in critical condition. Regardless, the fact is she was taken advantage of.

Desired outcome: Refund the excess. And an apology to my wife would be nice!

Fox Rent A Car Rip off on toll charge admin fees

FOX rental car service is misleading.

I rented a car from them and was not given a rental agreement nor allowed to read the {very small screen} before signing. I also was not told about or shown any notices about there toll admin charge of $15.00 per toll.

The toll was $2.82 and the admin fee was $30.00.

This company is a rip off and it shows in there practice to be misleading and not up front with customers.

Desired outcome: I will pay the $2.82 and a modest admin fee of $10.00Notice # 7630236437057I would like FOX to post the toll admin fee at there counters and inform customers of toll road charges.

Fox Rent A Car Roach infested rental car

The suv rental we got from fox rent a car in fort lauderdale airport is uncleaned, bad odor and roach infested. The car is also past due for oil change and maintenance according to dashboard. We saw a couple of roaches the first day and thought it’s just from the humid weather. Until the third day, we all have unreasonable rashes, bug bites, lesions on our body and we looked under the car seats and pulled up the third row seats. There are roaches and roaches eggs everywhere! We immediately took the car back and they resisted to provide us supervisor or manager contact information. The only comp we got is they took out the fuel charge. I will never use or advise anybody for fox rental a car again. We had a horrible experience

Fox Rent A Car Rental vehicle reservation from [protected]

My name is William Bohmer and I am filing this complaint on behalf of my wife (Marcey Bohmer) regarding a vehicle rental which was done on June 4, 2022 for an upcoming trip. As you will see by the contents of this complaint there are numerous concerns that need to be addressed.

On June 4, 2022 after calling several rental car companies we rented a vehicle with Fox-Rent-A-Car as they provided us the cheapest estimate of 1774.96 for a Hyundai Santa Fe or similar vehicle. During this phone call on June 4th the representative was very helpful and based on our needs helped us confirm the reservation.

On June 21st my wife, her mother and our 9 year old daughter caught a flight from Atlanta (Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport) with a layover in Austin (Austin-Bergstrom International Airport) and eventually landing in Salt Lake City (Salt Lake City International Airport). Once they gathered their baggage a shuttle transported them to the Fox-Rent-A-Car pickup location at 460 South Redwood Road which according to my wife is near Salt Lake City International Airport. My wife had the e-mail information from her phone call reservation from June 4, 2022. Upon arriving at the Fox-Rent-A-Car location she encountered many issues.

Complaint #1 (Availability of vehicles)

The Fox-Rent-A-Car location informed my wife that no vehicles were available in the category we requested which was Hyundai Santa Fe or similar vehicle. According to my wife there were approximately 30 other customers at the South Redwood Road location who were experiencing similar issues with their car-rental reservations. I will be attaching the e-mail from June 4th regarding the initial reservation. My wife was quoted for a Hyundai Santa Fe or a similar vehicle but she was told that one would not be available until 10pm (Mountain Time) or later if it was returned on time. The employees at the Fox-Rent-A-Car South Redwood Road location failed to provide good information as they didn't know what time a vehicle in the category we requested would become available. My additional information will show that there are others who have experienced this problem.

Complaint #2 (Fox-Rent-A-Car Liability insurance)

When we reserved the vehicle on June 4th my wife was never told that we were required to get the liability insurance offered by Fox-Rent-A-Car. My wife wanted to decline the Fox-Rent-A-Car liability insurance but was told by the employee at the South Redwood Road location that Utah is a no-fault state and liability insurance is required. We have rented vehicles in the past and have been able to decline the offered liability insurance. We have an active insurance policy. I will be attaching information about this problem as well to show there are others who have experienced this problem.

Complaint #3 (Charges my wife wouldn't agree to regarding the rental)

My wife was told that the only cars available were a minivan or a Toyota Forerunner. She was told there would be an upcharge for both vehicles instead of giving my wife a lower rate due to not having her requested vehicle available at the time of pickup. This resulted in an additional charge of $540.00 which should have never happened as they should have honored our contracted estimate of 1774.96 with no additional upcharges.

Complaint #4 (Deceptive and shady business practices)

When my wife read the electronic signature machine it indicated the early-return fee would be $20.00 but the attached Fox-Rent-A-Car paperwork from the South Redwood Road now indicates $61.76 dollars a day not to exceed $1330.56

My wife couldn't see their screen and was only allowed to see what they wanted her to see at the time of the rental.

The initial reservation quoted us an estimate of $1774.96 which we agreed to at the time of the reservation.

The document from June 21st now shows a price of 3100.60 which were forced to agree to as our requested vehicle was not available.

The initial quote of $1774.96 is more than half of what she is now being charged.

Complaint #5 (Non-refundable fuel charge)

My wife was charged a non-refundable fuel charge of $116.38 based on their cost of $5.06/gallon.

Complaint #6 (Ultimatums/Verbal Threats/Poor treatment of a customer (lies-deception-bait and switch-fraud-endanger the safety of my wife and family members that accompanied her on this trip)

My wife was forced to get a vehicle for more than we agreed or wait till the one she reserved was available. The staff were not able to tell my wife when her requested vehicle would arrive back at the pickup location. I have provided the Fox-Rent-A-Car document pertaining to the Toyota Forerunner.

My wife had been up since 315am (east coast time) on [protected] as she flew from Atlanta to her layover in Austin Texas and eventually reaching her destination in Salt Lake City.

My wife was threatened with an ultimatum of the following options:

-rent the minivan at the higher rate instead of honoring the original reservation

-rent the Toyota forerunner at the higher rate instead of honoring the original reservation

-be forced to wait till the vehicle she reserved arrives at the pickup location and becomes available

This is totally unacceptable treatment of a customer. We had a reservation from June 4th which Fox-Rent-A-Car didn't honor to my wife as a customer.

Complaint #7 (Attempts to resolve this issue on our own)

Since my wife informed me of this disaster on [protected] I have made numerous calls in an attempt to try and resolve this situation to my satisfaction. Unfortunately these attempts have been unsuccessful.

Despite the numerous attempts to try and resolve these many issues on our own I am now forced to file complaints with the following regulatory agencies:

A-Better Business Bureau-Utah

B-Better Business Bureau-California as the Fox-Rent-A-Car headquarters is located in California

C-Utah Division of Consumer Protection

D-Federal Trade Commission as it is the government agency responsible for overseeing rental car companies

Due to not being able to speak with employees from Fox Rent-A-Car I was forced to attempt a call to the Fox Rent-A-Car headquarters located in California. I did speak to an employee in the accounts payable department as all phone prompts had internal issues. The employee was very rude, disrespectful and yelled at me during the call. I feel that the Fox Rent-A-Car headquarters condones this behavior and doesn't take any action to address complaints.

Additional information provided to me by my wife:

My wife is very upset and is trying not to let this experience ruin her vacation. My wife is a Fox Rent-A-Car customer and should have never been treated this way. They need to honor the estimate from June 4, 2022 as our requested vehicle was not available.

They also need to knock the price down and take off the Fox Rent-A-Car issued liability insurance as it wasn't required.

My wife told the Fox Rent-A-Car employee she didn't want the Fox Rent-A-Car liability insurance but was told Utah is a no-fault state and liability insurance is required. That's fine but we have an active insurance policy with our insurance company.

My wife has rented vehicles in Utah before and has never had to get the rental car agency liability insurance.

My wife stated that when they went to get their vehicle she observed a couple who was behind them in line get into a sedan looking vehicle. How did this happen since my wife was told that no vehicles were available other than minivans and SUV vehicles.

I am requesting financial reimbursement of all charges from [protected]. When the initial reservation was made on 6-4-2022 we agreed to the estimate of 1774.96 but I understand if no vehicles were available the Toyota Forerunner should have been rented at the estimate we were quoted. This situation was preventable and they should have honored the estimate from 6-4-2022. That would have been an acceptable result.

As you can see by my report all included attachments several concerns need to be addressed:

-illegal acts

-deception

-bait and switch

-verbally threatening customers

-fraud

-scam like activities

-the employees from this company are crooks and cheat people out of their hard-earned money

My wife and I hope this situation can get resolved to our satisfaction.

Fox Rent A Car complaint on unauthorized charge to my credit card

My credit card was charged by $84.34 by Fox Rental when I fully paid for the car via Booking.com Booking no. [protected]. I returned the vehicle without any damage and a full gas of tank. This is a small amount but I still should not pay for it. This has caused me a little distress. Thank you for your cooperation.

Three problems with the car:

1 - Car felt like it didn’t have any shock absorbers at all. Very rough ride. At first we thought it was just Chicago roads. Later on smoother roads we thought it was just an old abused rental car (72000 miles). After 10 days we finally discovered that the tires were way overinflated, 80 PSI in the front tires, 70 PSI in one rear and 40 PSI in the other rear tire. Recommended is 36 PSI. Not only did this make for a terrible ride, it was probably dangerous as well.

2 - On the first night driving we found one headlight out. Again not very safe and probably illegal.

3 - The car registration certificate in the car and the sticker on the license plate both showed the registration had expired 1 1/2 months before on March 31, 2022. Again probably illegal.

I called customer service when I found the headlight out and the registration expired. I was told the registration was ok and good to March 2023 even though the certificate and sticker were not with the car. I assume that legally they should be with the car. For the headlight I was given two options, return the car to Chicago or take it to the closet Firestone dealer to have the headlight replaced. Being that we were 4 hours (8 hr round trip) from Chicago and 2 1/2 hours ( 5 hr round trip plus repair time) from the nearest Firestone dealer these were not good options. We were not going to take a day or two out of our vacation to fix Fox car rental problems. I didn’t know about the overinflated tires at the time but I also complained about the rough ride. I was told to live with it or return to Chicago, rental cars are in short supply and they are working with what they have.

Overall, we were not at all happy with the car or with customer service and will think long and hard before renting from Fox again.

Desired outcome: We'd like an apology and at least a partial refund for putting up with this terrible car. Please do something about the employees in Chicago that prepare the cars for rental so that other customers will get a good, safe car.

Had the reservation well in advance and was paid for in full. We get there to pick up the car after a long day of traveling and they refused to rent us the car. Do not count on them. Do not rent from them.

Fox Rent A Car Charge snuck on invoice

Aloha, I am reaching out to dispute the charges of my recent rental with fox at la. I booked the car on expedia for the dates of may 29th til june 8 and paid expedia on may 17th at the time of booking.

When I arrived at fox rental office on the morning of may 29th, I was told by the assisting agent, olufemi that my assigned time of pick up, 7:15am was not available. He requested for me to sit in the lobby for 30 minutes or so until a vehicle would be ready.

No problem, I was tired and a bit distraught having been on a red eye and having had no sleep. At this point, I was just going through the motions of how to best manage getting to my destination.

After the requested time was up, I again approached olufemi, and he proceeded to begin completing the process. He asked, "do you need coverage", I said "no" (as I also did not reserve the vehicle from expedia with coverage). He then said, "just the basic rental then?", I responded "yes".

Olufemi asked if I would like to prepay fuel, I responded "yes".

I was then instructed to the pin pad for signature requirements. My eyes were blurry... Lack of sleep and clarity on the pinpad was difficult.

Olufemi guided my signatures as typical agents would.

I new my car total was around $400 when I rented it so I inquired, "why does this read $500 plus?" olufemi responded, "yes maam, the car is $400 (not exact) but you also have prepaid gas."

I said, "oh yes, of course, thank you, I am sorry... I'm so tired from the flight.

Upon returning the car on june 8th, the agent alerted me the charges were $800 plus. I was confused, he then showed me on the contract where I was charged for a ldw. I never approved this, and it was snuck on my bill without my knowledge.

I then approached andrew moore assisting agent, where I was directed by the returning agent. Andrew was apologetic and said there was nothing he could do.

He directed me to theo bond, acting manager, who also would not help me.

All I got was this an email. It's unclear what the manager responsibilities are if they cannot engage with a disgruntled customer who was improperly charged.

I have a history of renting through fox, and never do I need additional coverage. Like most responsible adults, I am safeguarded through other means therefore have no need.

I rented the car through expedia without requesting additional coverage, fox representative olufemi should not have taken it upon himself to decide for me that it was okay to charge me for services not needed. As previously described, when asked if coverage was needed, I said no. The disquise of his response of"just the basic rental then?"was his ploy on deceitfully adding whatever he added.

I was taken advantage of and treated unfairly. The location offered no service once I realized what had occurred. I understand agents get some sort of compensation for these"upsells" and am a victim of a fox employee fraudulently mistreating me and attempting to take my money.

Please respond with how this matter can properly be corrected. I have disputed the charge with my credit card. I would like to have my charges completely reimbursed, then a properly corrected invoice/contract to be presented for me to pay what I am responsible for.

I am ashamed for fox rental car company for being so loose with their representatives abilities to take advantage of people.

This is the worst company to rent a car from in San Antonio. The customer service at the counter was awful. I will never rent a car from them again. They even had the light on in the car. I was told to take the car to get it looked at myself. The guy at the counter walked off from me as I was talking to him. Never again. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Fox Rent A Car Undue charges in 2 locations

I rented 2 cars in March 2022, however, different charges came from what was hired.

- Reservation San Francisco (03-03): It was expected to charge 272.01 and was charged 360.25!

- Reservation Las Vegas (03-07): Also expected to be charged 271.99 and was charged 282.30!

I contacted fox rental and wisecars but they didn't solve the problem. One plays for the other and to this day there has been no solution or explanation.

I do not recommend using the site wisecars and the fox rent a car!

Fox Rent A Car Rental in Mexico, but customer service will not help me.

I rented a car from FOXRENTACAR.com and purchased the insurance online for the vehicle. I rent in the US and in Mexico. I rarely have an issue. I have rented from FOX (or my business partners) about 20 times in the last six years at the GDL airport. This time, I had the worst time ever. When I went to pick up the car, they told me I had purchased the wrong insurance and they marked it up 400%. I told them I had called corporate to confirm I had purchased the correct insurance and corporate said, "YES.". Instead of $25 per day, they charged my $96 per day. If I wanted a car with insurance, THAT is what I would have to pay...or walk away with no car. Here I am, in a foreign country and FOX is trying to overcharge me. I didn't have a choice. When I returned from my trip, I called FOX and also sent them an email. They told me, "There is nothing we can do because the GDL airport is an affiliate and not part of FOX Rent A Car. (The 'Affiliate is Europcar WHO OWNS FOX RENT A CAR.) Nobody answered the phone number they gave me. I tried 5 times. I emailed the details to the affiliate 6 times only to have my email returned to me all six times as "rejected' because my email was deemed "SPAM." The one person who did respond to my EMAIL in the US said to email him back if I had any problems. He does not return emails either. It is really said when a company treats a loyal customer this way.

Desired outcome: I would like a refund or credit for the discrepancy and an apology for putting me through this. This has been going on for over a month now.

Fox Rent A Car car rental -

Absolutely horrible customer service. I made a rental for my business. I sent two people to pick up the car. The sole driver is 26, but did not have a credit card. They made the person who did have a credit card, the driver. I originally got a quote for $398.23. They then charged a surcharge for the new driver who is not 25 and charged a new amount of $940.89. They will not work with us. Customer service can't answer questions and simply says, "sorry this is the policy". Worst car rental company I have ever worked with

Fox Rent A Car Gas refuel charge and toll administrative fee..

We arrived on April 5 to pick up vehicle at Fox rental .. many people waiting to pick up and there were a few issues at the counter. The agents at the counter at the time we’re a little overwhelmed with all the situations going on. When we finally got to the counter we were never 100% explained how refueling the gas at the end of our rental or the toll situation. We were charged a complete full tank of gas at the end when we actually had over a half a tank of gas. The agent made it sound like they just you pay for 4.14 a gallon for whatever the remainder of the gas is needed to refill the tank. And I had to completely pay $78 to fill the tank when there was over a half a tank of gas in the vehicle. That’s absolutely ridiculous. Also they were never explain to us how the toll situation works, if they had explain to us that we were going to be charged the administrative fee, naturally we would’ve been able to take care of it prior. But I really don’t know how do you take care of that just can’t have a easy pass in the vehicle to just pay the five dollars worth of tolls instead of $90 in administrative fees that is absolutely unacceptable. I know that they stick all of this information in a contract but when you’re coming in from out of town to vacation, and you’re in that excited mode, you should be 100% explained how these work so you don’t get charged astronomical fees after you finish your rental. Just to finish I, paid $238 to rent a car and ended up paying $180 for additional fees, does that sound reasonable? Explanation and communication with these two issues should be communicated to people that are coming down to vacation and expect really good customer service. I really hope I can receive a call or if I can get a phone number to further discuss my displeasure at the end of my trip with Rental from Fox company. Peter Rubino -[protected]

Fox Rent A Car Unethical behaviour from collectors

Why is Mary P***** from FOX refusing provide me with a rental agreement even though I have asked her to do so at least six times? She is threatening collections when she refuses to provide the contract. I have asked her over and over for the agreement over the last three months. She refuses to provide it and still claims that there is a fee. Where is the proof?

This is unethical behaviour from your company.

Desired outcome: I would like the fee dismissed since Fox cannot produce a rental agreement.

Fox Rent A Car Charged my card for what?

Found a charge on my card after my rental. I returned the car one day early with a full tank of fuel, they charged me 52.35 extra. When I picked up the car they were rude, nasty, took an hour and 15 minutes to complete the transaction. Priceline and fox are the worst rip off artists of all time... Do yourself a favor, don't use these jerks
