Hi all, am so disgusted by the arrogance I got from the staff and the manager at Engen City Deep convenience centre, I've just put in R500 petrol and ask if I can get a toilet, The attendants and cashier claims they don't know where to find the keys, I asked to speak to a manager he is refusing to speak to me . I have been waiting for about 20 minutes now. I will never used Engen ever again. SB Shole0720552150

Engen Petroleum Baf customer service

I put diesel in my car. Only afterwards the tenant ask me to pay inside. He don't had a card machine available. So I went inside and tried to pay. After abou 15 minutes inside they decided to tell me it os the network and loadshedding fault. I must draw cash at bank till outside.

So I said I am not drawing money from another bank. It cost me R80 per R1000 for bank cost. The manager then mske me out as a crook. I have to leave something beh and go and get money and will report me to Engen all over South Africa. She will aldo go and report me at the police station. She was very rude with me. So me and myson just climb in the car and go anf draw money at FNB. We went back and she was again very rude with me and my son. I paif the cash ask for my slip snd left. This is very unprofessional and bad service.

The attendant was Jackson.

On slip is no reference number. Only Zama 9930

Desired outcome: Hope they will take this seriously and in violation of me and my son's integrity.I have used this garage for past 15 years. Will not go back.

Engen Petroleum Bad service

I went to fill a fuel at Engen garage in Evaton next to Evaton mall in the morning around 4:40am. I waited for more than 15 minutes while the petrol attended were busy helping taxi drivers that came after me . I will Never go to any Engen garage again and this is not the first time I will rather go to Shell garage were I will receive a good service. I had to drive like a crazy woman because I was late to work...

Engen Petroleum Terrible service attitude and misinformation

Date of incident 12/09/2022

Place: Engen on Elgin road Birchleigh Kempton park

Name of cashier: Mokgadi

This cashier refused to give me a discount on a clearly visible and branded

special of 2 ice creams for R31.

she insisted I pay the full price only because she said she cannot subtract the discount amount.

I then insisted to speak to another staff member who was working in the back office. Only then did I get the discount clearly visible next to the merchandise

She had a terrible attitude and treated me as though me spending my money there is a favor to me.

Please resolve this or I will take the matter further. Since these ice creams were for my daughter who was with me during this incident

Engen Petroleum Charging VAT on basic food

On Saturday 3 September i baught the basic food namely braed and milk from the engine quic shop Umfula 1 Stop. Hartbeespoort Damdoryn crossing.

Sunday 4 September went back to discuss the matter that follow, after the purcuse i noted a VAT charged on milk( Clover 2ltr full cream). I consulted SARS website and obtained clarification from a manager from PnP if there is a VAT charged on milk, as from the understanding it is a basic food.

The manger/owner kept me wating for 15min to explain why the vat charged.

I left and informed them that i will use other avenues to escalte the matter

Engen Petroleum Diesel in a petrol car

Good day

I was at engen garage in Hanover park on the 2nd of may 2022 to put in some petrol

The then threw diesel in instead of petrol

The manager a mr waleed then threw in the same amount of petrol with the diesel and said I must drive that everything will be ok against my better judgement I drove and only got 2 km from garage and car went to stand

I took the car back to garage and they said they will sort it out

The called me and said car is sorted I went there but car was still in same condition

They then towed the car to my place and the manager said he will get in contact with the owner and sort my car out

I have been trying to get in contact with them since that day on the 02 of may 2022 but no joy they never at garage and read all my wassup messages but no reply

What am I to do my car is standing now since then went to the garage with a perfect driving car and got towed home from there and it’s 2 months later and they still not helping me I sent engen heard office in Cape Town a email no reply from them either

Engen is getting a really bad name

My next and only option is going to have go to the papers because I am out of options

Engen Petroleum Unprofessional service at Engen garage Fourways

Just after 17:00 on the 20th May 2022, I arrived at the Engen garage on William Nicol Drive Fourways. As per usual, I do what I always do. Take out my empty container and a petrol attendant would take it and while his gone to fetch a full one, I go inside and pay and then I give my slip to the attendant and I take my exchanged cylinder. I get there today and I put my empty cylinder outside the door and I see a tenant by the pay window. He ignores me after I greet him. The guy at the till even says help the lady, he responds in SeSotho that she must pay first before I help her. I proceed with my cylinder to the till cause I am not sure why if that is the procedure, which I am not aware of, why cant he just explain to me professionally what I need to do. I ask the guy at the till that is that the reason why your attendant did not help me cause I didn't pay. I inform him that I have been coming to this garage for years and he responds that he knows I have been coming for years but I must pay. Then the one who refused to help me says, " she wants me to give her a full container and then drives off". I took my card back and left. I take exception to this treatment. Yes there are these issues going around on social media, but they can not assume cause I am black, we are all guilty of this crime. All he needed to do is to explain to me why he will not help me and I comply with the new procedures. But the audacity for him to assume I am here to commit crime. I am very disappointed by the attitude I received. And they would never see me there ever again.

Desired outcome: I want an apology. I will not be treated like a second class citizen when I am bringing you business.

Engen Petroleum Customer service

What is it with your staff that they feel a mask has to look a certain way before you enter your convenience store, Eastlake Engin Motors in this case.

SA law clearly defines a mask as follows:

"67. (1) For the purposes of these Regulations, a 'face mask' means a cloth face mask 𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth."

Therefore it includes holding your tshirt over your nose and mouth right?

I can assure you that my t-shirt is far cleaner than the majority of masks that people wear when they enter your premises. Perhaps they just need education on the actual law?

Desired outcome: Talk to your staff and explain the law.

Engen Petroleum Bad customer service from manager - Kim's Service Station/Engen Atlantis

Good evening

Would like to convey my disappointment to the owner of Kims Service Station / Engen Atlantis industria.

They are distributors of Totalgaz LPG Cylinders.

Date - 28 April 2022 - 17:00 pm

When my wife returned the cylinder due to a leak, he was very disrespectful, speaking to her in a manner that left her very traumatized.

When one of his petrol-attendance wanted to intervene he told him to shut-up in front of my wife.

I can’t see in 2022 that staff is treated this way…. they are probably scared to complain…. scared of losing their jobs.

I am sure you frequently do customer and staff surveys and cannot see how this site has passed.

Please address this …. this is the type of scenarios that brings a brands into a bad light.

Engen Petroleum Customer service

I have a problem with Thobela Mvelase from Engen garage city deep convenience store. This is a second time she gives bad service with an attitude. She is the lady that makes pastry there. I even had to ask for her manager which did not help since she was screaming at me in front of her boss.

She didn't even serve me after the screaming match she left me standing and was unbothered even when I mentioned that I was gonna report her. The manager had promised to call me until today I have not received any phone call from them.

Desired outcome: Disciplinary or discussion with her and a formal apology.

Engen Petroleum Rude manager and fraud

I was at vorna valley engen garage to refuel for r80 today (13/04/1022 20:30), I was passing to my house so I just didn’t want to get stuck. I refueled and my car never reported any km loaded. I then ask the attendant if we fueled, he gives me an attitude to say “ you poured 3litres what do you expect”. Being a victim of faulty calibration on pump and fraud at petrol stations, I got concerned. I told him I will drive around and see if the fault is on the car or what? Still my car couldn’t pick up the fuel. I went back and ask for superiors, the staff told me the person who assisted me is the supervisor. I then asked for the number for the manager. I stayed for about 20 minutes with ignition off to see if the problem is with the car or what. Meanwhile I called manager and he was not available, his name is reyaaz essat. I decide to drive home, from home I send him a whatsapp voice note. He respond by saying “ how dare I say his staff is fraudulent, its not his problem that my car is not reporting, the guy who helped me is good guy, I must just not come to his garage again, he is all about business, he cant believe I just disturbed his fasting and prayer for just useless 3litres.” at this point im shocked at how he is angry and unprofessional in handling this. Please intervene as this is bad reputation for the company which is a franchise which a code of conduct for all branches.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology and refund. Also as a staff member of Clicks i will raise this within the company how our clients are treated at Engen garage. My email is [protected]@gmail.com

Engen Petroleum Workers at the engen garage swearing, assaulting and chasing customers away!

On the 3rd of April 2022 at the MacKenzie Park Engen Garage around 14:21pm. The attendant was very unprofessional and aggressive towards a customer willing to put fuel.

He chased me away arrogantly. He was speaking to me in his language and when I confronted him. He used his language and swore my mother. He then became aggressive.

As I defended myself, the one came running out from the petrol room with a stick and the other one came running out with two big truck spanners wanting to assault me. The one short guy picked up a brick and wanted to break my car windows. As I tried to stop the guy from breaking the windows.

The fat guy ran picking up te windscreen washers and broke it on my head. My father tried to stop the fight and then the short person purposely hit my father's glasses off his face causing the lenses to break in pieces which cost about R7000 to make a new pair.

This is very upsetting as I know that fighting at work is a huge offense and customers should never be treated in this way. My son was in te car and witnessed such a terrible service and experience.

I asked to speak to the manager and was refused. I was told to 'bugger off'.

I am very upset due to this incident. I will attach below pictures of the aggressors and my father's broken spectacles.

I would like a response to my email as soon as possible as to what measures will be taken to deal with this matter.

If I do not hear from you, I will be contacting Manogari Moonsamy and sharing my terrible experience with video footage and pictures referring to te above incident.

Desired outcome: I would like aggressors to be brought to justice so no one would ever experience what I have have been through. I would also want my father's glasses to be replaced as he is old and cannot do without it.

Engen Petroleum Fuel tanks

Yesterday the 12th of March 2022 me and my fiance bought a second hand Renault Sandero Dynamic 900T. We stoped at the engen garage near Mooirivier Mall in Potchefstroom. The tank still was not on reserve and we could drive around 150 still. We asked to fill up the tank. When it was full it was 59.74 liters. I tool a photo of the pump to show my fiance as I was confused, because I though it was n 50liter tank. We drove to the place we were sleeping the night checked the owners manual and saw that it definitely was a 50liter tank. We drove back to engen showed the manager the picture that i took the slip and the manual that says its a 50liter tank. He said that he couldnt do anything until the cashed up in the morning and we should come back. Today 13March 2022 at 8am we went back To engen. The manager told us that there was no errors on their side and that he read somewhere that a tank can take up to 10-15 liters more than is stated in the owners manual and refused to give us our money back for the at least 15 liters extra that was charged. This is more than R300 worth. He got very agressive when we tried to explain to him that it is impossible and threatened to take us to court if we dared to complain or put anything on sosial media, and it turned to a total screaming match and they threatened to call the polise. When we asked for the calibration certificate he only continued to scream that his tanks gets calibrated every 18 months ! 18 months? I can see that a tank can maybe take a liter or 2 of you fill it up to the brim but 15 liters?

Desired outcome: We wanted the 300 back that we were charged for something that cannot be.

Engen Petroleum Payment

I went to engen garage at musgrave durban on Saturday around 19:30pm. I asked the petrol attended to fill up R300 petrol for me which he did. On Monday as I check my transactions for the weekend I see that I have been charged twice R300 infact I got 3 bank notifications of R300 the first one the balance changes the second one the balance does not change so I thought to myself it might have been a network issue only to see a 3rd notification and the balance changes again. I contacted my bank and they confirmed I was charged twice and not 3 times so I than went and got a bank statement during my lunch break at work and after shift I went back to the engen garage to query this mind you I still had the receipt with me aswell. Unfortunately the guy I spoke to Sfiso Mchunu did not show any interest in what I had to say he didn’t take a second to look at the proof I hd with me all he said was he can’t help the manager is not in and I should come back during the day and he dismissed me like that. Wednesday morning at 8:30 I called the garage asked to speak to the manager so I can make an appointment to come in when he is there so we can sort this out but he also just dismissed me and said I should speak to my bank it might have been a network problem I tried to tell him that I have spoken to the bank it was the first thing that I did the manager by the name of Raj(not sure of spelling) didn’t even want to give me a chance to explain he kept talking over me during the telephonic conversation until I screamed at him and told him to give me a chance to talk. I than told him that I have spoken to the bank I have all the proof that I need when can I come and see him he responded by saying it will be useless coming to him cause he knows that I was not double charged. I asked him how can he be so sure when he hasn’t even taken a moment to check the information on his end. He than said to me he has checked and there is no charge I asked him how can he check when he hasn’t asked for the receipt number or the petrol attendant name or the day and time when I came to fill up petrol or the amount that I am claiming I was charged or the bowser number that I filled up petrol with he than went quiet on the line and eventually dropped the phone without responding to me. I called again and I asked the guy that answered the phone to put him back on the line and I could hear him say he doesn’t want to talk to me. At first I thought that this was an honest mistake but I now see that this is how they operate by scamming people. I want my money back it might be just R300 but I want my money back and on Monday when I spoke to Sfiso I told him that he could either give me the money or fill up my tank with R300 petrol cause there I was thinking it was an honest mistake and his response to me was that he is busy and I should come back when the manager is around cause he can’t help me. To say I am angry is an understatement

Engen Petroleum Noise pollution.

The worst part for me stopping at an Engen garage is when those hand air dryers get used in the rest rooms. The decibels coming from those dryers must exceed the allowable decibel ratings for use in a public place. I suppose it will be to much to investigate the noise levels in the rest rooms. Should call them noise rooms.

I just had a problem with cashier in Engen baseband service station in spruit, I normally buy my drink there and swipe without any problem, today the lady by the name Phumelele 9120 told me she can't swipe my drink because is R20 she suggested that I should buy something more or withdraw she will not swipe for me, when I told her that I can't withdraw that amount and I normally buy here she resued and set down telling me she can't

I had a problem at Engine petroleum station at Soshanguve block L (Engine Boss Service Station)

I want to buy Airtme today in the morning at 08:18 I greeted her she kept quiet, I said to her I am greeting you, you keep quit and I am your customer.

Shem responded"you are not my customer I do not own a garage, she said"

She started to call me by the names

I went out
