Emergency Assistance Plus It's a scam

It's a scam. They used a third party to send Mom, with dementia, their deceptive scheme and she paid them thinking it was a bill and not a scam. Got the renewal some weeks ago, called them up, on hold for nearly an hour, spoke with someone who made me jump through hoops and refused to tell me what services they provide. I jumped through all the hoops (because you aren't getting over on me!) and called back today. They hadn't even processed all the paperwork the first operator had demanded. Having read the countless terrible reviews of them here, I started off in a bad mood and made sure they knew it could get MUCH worse. The only reason I give one star is that the operator I got today DID actually help me (without the requirements the first had demanded, by the way) cancel the subscription Mom didn't even know she had signed up for. I'm going to go back and promise to expose the entire scam unless they give me Mom's money back as NO ONE NEEDS TRAVEL INSURANCE IN THE MIDDLE OF LOCKDOWNS. Scammers like this live to exploit seniors. Fight back or these lowlifes will drain you dry. PS. The bill said they are based in Pasadena CA but the fax number (the first operator had suggested I snail mail the paperwork she lied she said she needed to try to charge Mom's card again while the stuff was in transit) was Phoenix so they're evading and avoiding.

EA+ left me stranded in Brazil. They denied my claim with a smile. Will not be renewing. Much better travel insurance companies out there. Your credit card may have better coverage than EA+ for no extra charge!

I just noticed a $149 preauthorized debit in our checking account which I do not remember doing. We have not travelled in 3 years due to Covid and will never in the future due to health issues. So this company has been going into our checking account for the amount of $450 during times we could not even travel. When I asked fora refund for the amount of $149 taken on Dec. 28 I was told it would be a partial refund because it takes them 30 days to process cancelled policies. Why should we pay for the time it takes them to process. This is a total scam. They say I checked some box authorizing them to rob me each year. Avoid them like the plague (which we can't avoid).

My husband and I travel often so when we received a mailing about EA+ we decided it would be a smart idea to have in case something ever happened while traveling. When I was in Paris I tripped over some stairs and landed on my shoulder. I went to the hospital and the doctor confirmed that I had broken my shoulder but would not need surgery; they gave me a shoulder sling and pain medicine. The next morning I was in pain and wanted to know what EA+ could do for me if my situation got worse and I needed to go home. I called EA+ and spoke with one of their representatives who was so kind and helpful, it was nice hearing a friendly voice while being injured in an unfamiliar place. She went over the services available to me and what would happen if I was hospitalized and needed to return to the US. I felt better after that phone call knowing that someone would be there for me if I needed it. Luckily I was able to continue my trip and enjoy all that Paris had to offer. After this scare, my husband and I will keep renewing our EA+ membership.

I have no idea about the actual product except that they scammed my almost 80yr old Mother into buying it for the entire family. My husband is AD USMC and we have no need for any additional insurances. My Mother barely leaves the county. From what she thinks they'll transfer us anywhere, anytime and for any reason. From the research I've done that is completely incorrect. Now she won't let me do anything about it and she already lives below the poverty level. SHAME ON YOU!

Emergency Assistance Plus I received paperwork from Legion Department Florida soliciting participation with LIT/Emergency Assistance Plus

I received paperwork from Legion Department Florida soliciting participation with LIT/Emergency Assistance Plus. I tried the emergency number, the customer contact number, the any questions number. The numbers rang once, no one on the other end, and after about a minute to a minute and a half the call terminated. Not impressive at all. The Legion should be ashamed and LIT is a no go in my book.

I received advertising material from Emergency Assistance Plus directed to CalRTA Members -- which I am. The advertising does not include what I consider full, complete details about the services offered, exclusions, etc. It only specifies: “100% Money-Back Guarantee: I will receive a Member Guide that gives the full rules and regulations of this plan. I can take up to 30 days from my effective date to read it over." I would want to read this Member Guide, and have this full information *beforedeciding to enroll, not after when it would involve the extra trouble to cancel and have to keep track of a refund. I called the “Questions?" number given in the material to request a copy of the Member Guide. Although the customer service rep was very courteous, she did not know how to provide me a copy and then made some several minutes effort to find out, but came back with the answer that there would be no way to receive a copy to review prior to enrollment. I fail to understand how any conscientious, reputable insurer could/would fail to provide such information in advance to any interested potential customer. What's up with this?

I have been very frustrated with the logistics of this service. My mother fell and broke her facial bones and had some eye and brain trauma. She had 2 surgeries, and an 8 day stay in the hospital. It has been 3 weeks and my mother has been convalescing at my daughters house in Atlanta. We live in Florida. Due to extreme nausea and pain, she can not sit up for more than 20 minutes at a time. This necessitates ground transportation instead of air travel. EA+ will only cover the cost of a plane ticket home. They will not give us any estimate of what our out of pocket cost will be for ground transport. Additionally EA+ requires a doctors' personal visit and a fit to travel form within 72 hours of travel. She cannot make it to the doctor to get this filled out, and he doesn't do house calls. OT and PT have been coming regularly and take vitals and know of her condition, but are not allowed to fill out the form. EA+ is definitely not set up to deal with this kind of situation. A broken leg, maybe. A brain injury, no way. One other thing, I filled out all the forms to release medical records to them. They spoke with the case manager at the trauma center. Now EA+ tells me they have no medical records. It seems that they put it on the family to obtain all records. Not helpful at all in this respect. We have all we can do taking care of mom, why can they not call and get the records?

Negative reviews do not seem to reflect what is being purchased. This is travel assistance to return home from medical events which disrupt travel. It is not advertised as medical coverage insurance. Difficulties with contact etc. are happening on every customer service phone call to almost all companies. Fewer employees with increased demand is our current circumstance in life. There are numerous positive reviews on this site and others where travel assistance home was provided in extraordinary ways by EA+. So it appears that where the purchased service is needed that EA+ is doing a super job. In our culture of instant gratification people have no patience or tolerance having built expectations in their head which may not match reality. I travel with confidence that EA+ will be there if ever needed. It appears they have been so in many examples. I encourage all to carefully read what services are actually provided and make decisions accordingly. It is wise to ask questions before purchasing any insurance and not to make assumptions or have expectations beyond what was agreed to. i

We received a bill for $189 for a renewal of their service, even tho, over a year ago, we cancelled this service due to Covid. We weren't going anywhere. Then about a month ago, we see a renewal for $189 charged to our credit card. First of all, my wife and I never sign up for auto-renewal. We need to see the bill and decided if we want to renew something. My wife called, went thru the hassle of explaining the situation, and they acquiesced and said you did cancel and credited us back the $189. Today we received a late notice saying we owed $189. My wife called again, explained the situation again, then was put on hold for ten minutes, and then was told to disregard the bill and they then abruptly hung up. No apologies for getting caught trying to rip us off. Stay away from this company.

Emergency Assistance Plus They cannot do two things at once

They cannot do two things at once. They were supposed to provide a hotel but fixated on the "Fit to Fly" form and decided to overrule the doctors recommendation the doctor provided on the form. Like what good is the form then? When asked about the Hotel issue that said well we were only working on the flight. 6 hours and nothing accomplished. Then they told me I was going to talk to a supervisor. They called back and said the Supervisor would get back to me in the morning. SO where was I going to stay for the night? As Forest Gump said "Stupid is what Stupid does." They kept on saying their medical team did not like the recommendation of the "real Doctor". So their "medical" team that never talked to our Hospital Doctor decided that my wife should stay for 7 days with a nurse before taking a plane back home...which the Hospital Doctor approved. What a waste of time and money...they provided nothing. Sorry I could not give a lessor rating.

Emergency Assistance Plus My wife and I signed up for Emergency Assistance Plus (EA+) over a year ago

My wife and I signed up for Emergency Assistance Plus (EA+) over a year ago. We have never received a membership guide. Our cheesy cards do not have a member number, which seems important according to log in FAQs. I got this protection primarily for medivac situations arising on fishing trips to Yucatan and similar locales. For 15 years, I have insured each trip with AIG Travelguard. The one claim I had with them was handled equitably but most concerned with emergency evacuation capability. To "test" EA+ I called their USA "emergency" number. It took 15-20 minutes on hold for an agent to answer. I then called Travelguard's emergency number and got an instant response. This tells me that EA+ does not even have a dedicated line to handle emergencies in this country. Would a call from Yucatan be handled more expeditiously? I'm not going to find out. I'm going to cancel, which does not, thus far appear easy either. I shall keep you informed as to that effort. Also, I DID NOT sign up for automatic renewal. J ***s MD
