Discover Cars review: Unexpected extra charges and disappointing complaint handling
I booked and prepaid a rental car through DiscoverCars, including Full Coverage, for pickup with CarFree at Katowice Airport in September 2026.
At pickup, CarFree refused my valid physical Mastercard because it displayed my given names as initials. This specific restriction had not been clearly disclosed before booking.
I was left with no realistic alternative but to pay an additional 599.99 PLN for a protection package or leave without my prepaid rental car.
I also booked a GGAH Hybrid but received a vehicle documented as SFAV/Petrol. I subsequently disputed an additional 180 PLN fuel charge.
Despite submitting a detailed complaint and extensive supporting evidence, DiscoverCars issued a final response refusing any refund.
I rent cars regularly and have never experienced such disappointing support from a booking platform.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend DiscoverCars.
Recommendation: My recommendation: choose another car rental booking company. Based on my experience, I would not book through DiscoverCars again.
